Doc Bud's High Brix Q&A With Pictures

Hi Doc and gang,

This question needs a little background, so please bear with me.

Because there’s no PromixHP available here, I used pure sphagnum peat moss for my mix.

I mixed a half batch of kit soil.

Some of you may remember a discussion about this at the time I realised my (minor) mistake.

PromixHP has 27% perlite in every 3.8cu.ft bale.

I should have removed 1/4 of the SPM (which was also 3.8cu t) and added the perlite in its place, but I didn’t.

I added perlite to half the bale (25% of the amount of SPM), added doc’s recommended amount of limestone powder as buffer and half the 1st run ammendments, and 20pounds of castings.

What this means is that I ended up with a mix that’s a little on the light side in terms of calcium buffer and the kit amendment (not the castings, they should be fine).

At the time Doc, I think you didn’t see it as a problem so it’s probably not. However;

I’m starting to see some motley coloration on the leaves (pale and dark). It’s not extreme, but it’s more noticeable today than it was yesterday. I wonder a few things about this:

I wonder if it’s an issue;

I wonder if the slightly light base soil might be the reason, and if it is, whether drenches can remedy, and;

I wonder if it’s something else.

Today is day 41 - last drench was a TP 3days ago, yesterday it got a brix.

I’m not panicked about it at all, just observing and wondering. :)

:Namaste:

It was a guess---educated, not wild---with the soil. It does look to me like a root issue, however. Here's what I would do:

1. Prune off lower leaves and branches
2. Give a Rescue Drench when it dries out
3. Take not of the new growth.

That should set things right.

Doc. You think I should do this myself or do you think mine is more likely pests? My thought is that it's not pests but I've never had so not sure yet, still weaponizing with foliars (1st 1/4 strength Brix tonight since full strength leaf wash 4 days ago), do you think sme of the same that you prescribed for Amy. These have bee,n vegging for over 3 months and roots are no where near where they should be.

Those look good to me. I suspect they're just getting enough light to the lower leaves.

Good color and shine....Prune 'em up.

Is there anything I should do to the soil that’s still in the tote? (Ie the full half batch minus this 1gal)

And thanks for being about on a weekend :)

These four OG Kush (in the back) started as 100% perlite Hempy clones in 32oz pots, just like all the smaller plants in front. I transplanted them to the cooked kit soil (first run Sunshine #4) sometime mid July to 1gal pots. On their first Brix spray I had the lights turned too high and they got a bit burned (one more than the rest). They recovered pretty quickly.

I had been more or less following the pdf schedule making sure not to over water. About three weeks ago after a plain water dunking they started to droop and never really recovered. I kicked myself and assumed they were over watered but the soil was drying out quickly. It seemed like they were going from over watered to under watered every day or two without anything in between. After reading some posts here I read they were probably severely root bound (thanks @Graytail ) and not really overwatered at all.

Last week, I transplanted them into 2 gal pots and they seemed to be recovering nicely. But they still don’t seem to have fully recovered. They’re still drooping a bit and not really looking super great. I feel like if they could go into their final 15gal pots right now it would solve these issues, but I just don’t have room for that for a couple weeks yet. Any advice?

Figured I would drop a few pics here to see if you have seen this before Doc... pretty strange.
Looks like a pistil to me...

It's starting to come around now... but that is one crazy confused lady.

They look pretty dang decent to me, Droob! That said, if it were me, I'd give them a heavy Transplant drench, using Doc's dunking watering technique.

Thanks! I did a Transplant drench last week when I transplanted them, then a Destress spray a day or two later. I believe their due for a Growth Ionic drench now, pots will be dry today. Should I skip the Growth Ionic and go with another transplant? Someone else suggested a Rescue drench. I personally think I should just find the largest pots that I can fit and transplant them to them. I really would feel more comfortable if these leaves weren’t always drooping. My Hempy plants don’t ever seem to droop like this.

Hay DOC

Was just checking on some product and noticed ALL of the ITEMS are SOLD-OUT ?
Can this be correct or did the other Thing get worse

You need to order on Amazon (be sure to leave a great review!). I think there are still (again) issues with taking payments on the website but I'm sure there's plenty of product ;).

Says week one or two into flower on the PDF sheet, but I do 3 weeks into flower. With the Panama being a 12 week sativa I did another recharge around 6 weeks in I believe.

Hope your weekend is well KB:passitleft:
