DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

I think you can fit 9 easily, maybe even 12-16 if you're growing a straight SOG, single COLA clone to 12/12 set up. The one thing I see though is the total volume is going to be pretty low since the control unit is smaller than most. You could build a small undercurrent type system with 4 square buckets and put 4 plants per buckets, that is the way I would go. Although I like the thought the guys put into the construction of these units and they aren't crazy expensive.

If you buy one of them I am definitely interested in seeing how it works out. If you can get 9~12 in a 2x2, I could triple that in my 2x6....wheels turning, thoughts happening....hmm.....

Yeah, they look really well built, and it's only $50/site for the first five sites including controller, pumps, etc. and then only $20/site to expand (two sites at-a-time). The parts also look relatively inexpensive.

I'm not sure how big the site units are (I'm guessing something like 4" diameter), but it looks like the smallest spacer they have is a 2.5" spacer, then the next smallest is a 6" (my guess is that joining two 2.5"ers will be the same as a 6" when you add the connector). I think 2.5" might be a little too close, even for SOG, so, if I space them 6" apart, I can probably easily get five sites, plus the controller in the 2'x2' space. I'm not sure how much more, but if I went with the 2.5" spacers, now the number would be something like 7 sites plus the controller.

I'm definately interested in these units, so if anyone sees any grows with them, please let me know!

QUICK PIC UPDATE

Checking in on the girls this evening, I noticed the clone I took on Saturday starting to turn yellow on some of the lower leaves:

Since I know this is a sign she's forming roots, I figured I'd check the bottom of the cube to see if she had anything showing...

She didn't, BUT, when I saw the bottom of the Power Skunk's cube, here's what it looked like:

DSCN04186.JPG

Since I don't like leaving roots outside of the cube for long, I had to make a decision...either go with hempy's again, or give the bubble cloner another shot. I've had good success with the hempys, but cleaning off the perlite to transplant them to the waterfarms is a real PITA, so I decided to break out the smaller bubble cloner.

First, I prepped a couple of 3.25" netpots...

Here's what the "unmodified' netpot looks like:

DSCN04142.JPG

And here's what they look like after my modification (before cleanup!):

DSCN04155.JPG

I want to let as much roots thru the netpot and into the res as possible.

The smaller cloner is a 6-site unit in about a 3-4 gallon container, but when filled to the inside ridge, which is a perfect distance from the bottom of the netpots, it holds just about exactly 2 gallons of nutes.

So, I taped off the four netpot sites I won't be using with some panda film to prevent unwanted light from getting into the res.

Then, I mixed in 4ml of DM Zone, a couple drops of SuperThrive, and a couple of tsps. of H2O2, and some PH down. Then, put the clone and seedling in the netpots, packed some STG hail around the cubes, and fired up the cloner:

I've got two 12" airstones in the bottom throwing off a good amount of bubbles, even though it's connected to a pretty small 10gallon pump:

I'm hoping I can keep that Power Skunk going long enough to get some clones from her!

I think the 2.5 is how I would go, straight clone to bloom, single cola ala 420fied style. He had 2 liter bottles stacked asshole-bellybutton and had a great harvest. You could get 16~24 in with that config.

Geez...you're right! I was only counting two rows of three units (one being the controller plus five sites), but if I can get three wide, that means I can also get three deep, so the number with the 6" spacers is probably 8 sites plus the controller and with the 2.5" it's probably at four rows of four and possibly five rows of five, so either 15 sites or 24 sites plus the controller! Niiiiiiiice!!!! :thumb:

I'll be watching that grow closely. My mantra is always "if I can buy it for less than twice what it costs me to make it" then I will buy it. This would qualify. I would contact the company and ask if they are confident enough in their system to sponsor you. 24 site (5x5 with the 25th the controller). If you agree to follow their guidelines explicitly and document the whole grow, they should jump on it.

You have to at least ask the question, if not the answer is always no.

Wow! That means if I only averaged 10 grams per plant, I could still harvest 150-250 grams or so (about 5-10 oz.) AND cut down the amount of time to harvest (by eliminating veg)...I think I'm gonna need to try that! :)

That would totally eliminate my space issues, plus, I bet they could stay unattended for quite some time with a large enough reserve res.

Mr K., I'm going to have to respectfully request of you, to try that damn system! You know, so I can live vicariously through you!! Thing looks bad ass....I also like Steve's idea of 4 larger buckets under the sites, although, that would be a hell of a project!

Yeah, I think I'm gonna try it, but will probably be a couple grows from now.

BUBBLE HASH TIME!

I don't know if it was the hash & eggs recipe I posted earlier this week or all the talk about the BUBBLE cloner, but earlier tonight I had the sudden urge to make my first round of bubble hash.

I broke out the Wonder Washer and filled it 2/3 of the way with ice:

DSCN04223.JPG

I got my bag of trim out of the freezer. It had a mix of trimmings and small buds from the AK, Haze, and Pineapple Express and it was a mix of both dry and wet trim, but I'd estimate dry weight at about 2.5-3.0 oz.:

DSCN04234.JPG

I tossed it in:

DSCN04244.JPG

Added some more ice:

DSCN04254.JPG

And filled it to the rest of the way to the fill line with water:

DSCN04262.JPG

Once I cranked it on, I started preparing the bubble bags. I had gotten a GREAT deal on a full 8-bag set of bubble bags, but they are only 1-gallon bags and the Wonder Washer holds about 4 gallons, so I put a hole in the bottom of the bucket so the water could just drain through and run out, allowing me to put all 5 gallons through at once:

DSCN04274.JPG

I let it run for 15 minutes and when I checked it, it had the consistancy of a snow cone:

DSCN04283.JPG

So, I ran it for another 15 minutes and although it got a little mushier, it was still too thick, IMHO, to put through the bags:

DSCN04304.JPG

So, I ran a 3rd 15 minute cycle and poured the mixture into the stacked bubble bags:

DSCN04315.JPG

And, the mixture did NOT drain out of the bucket...I mean, some did, but overall, each bag had to be individually removed and drained into the next bag. So, I ended up having to do three separate run-throughs of the bags to get the entire contents of the Wonder Washer through, but as I started draining the bags, sure enough, I got bubble! :grinjoint:

There's nothing for size reference, and I'll post more pics with weights and smoke report after everything dries. Right now, it's in the food dehydrator, but here's what we got:

BUBBLE HASH RESULTS

After only about 5-6 hours on the lowest setting on the dehydrator, the hash turned nice & crispy and flaked right off of the parchment paper I was using to dry them on.

Here's the results separated by grade:

And, for size reference:

DSCN04392.JPG

Here are the yields:

160 micron: 2.5g
120 micron: .8g
73 micron: 2.4g
45 micron: 2.4g
25 micron: 1.2g

TOTAL YIELD: 9.3g

I never considered making bubble hash but I am most curious about the flavor of the finished product. Do you expect to get a true hash flavor from this process? My impression is that it would have a very "green" taste to it.

what do you guys think about re-using soil??

This would be a very bad idea for numerous reasons. Here are my top 3 in no particular order:

1). Build up in salts from past nutes. More toxic than fresh soil.
2). Decomposing matter from old roots. A home for disease and pests.
3). Pests have had enough time to colonize and multiply.

No green taste at all...it's a pure trichome extraction, so the chlorophyl, plant material, and other "contaminants" get removed during the process.

It tastes just like hash (it is, hash!) but doesn't appear to be as sticky/malleable as pressed hash. It more like little chunks of rocks that crumble under pressure rather than change shape. It could be because I dried it too long in the dehydrator but, I believe this is how it's supposed to turn out. I know if it's not dried thoroughly, it can mold.
