DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

Thank's, MacG! :thanks:

So far, the cabinet is performing even better than I had hoped, so all the time & research I put into lighting, venitllation & odor control have paid off without me needing to re-design - at least that I can see, yet!

The closer I get to harvest, the more exciting it's becoming. So, I'm sure the last couple of weeks before harvest will be the true test of my patience! :tokin:

Yeah I agree the more research before hand the better your grow space is bound to be. All that head work does pay off.

Exciting? Shiiiiiiit, watching this is better than watching my own grow, lololo!
:cheer:

I agree with all of this! Does it still look like the colas are filling in? I think they're still going to fill in quite a bit more. It's a jungle in there!

Blue, yeah, they're still filling in...I'm gonna wait at least another week or two before I even think about switching to the Overdrive. WnF & I have been discussing your expert advice on his thread! :Namaste:

BTW...it was I that recommended the pet syringe, I believe on Munki's thread. I'm glad it's working out for you. I use mine all the time and love it since the one time I tried to pour from a bottle, it was much less accurate and made a huge mess. :)

WOOOO HOOOO!!! Damn my man, Swollen an Swellin! only gonna get better from here ;)
Your in for a long harvest day :)

Thanks Bro! I was actually hoping for a harvest week but I'll settle for a long day!

LOL! I just got the regular bud p0rn! :)

+ reps for that great suggestion, and for $4!

I was expecting to pay more so that was a nice surprise.

I knew I was on the light side but I've been massively under-dosing the cal-mag and silica. Everything's in ml's now. Damn commie metric system trying to screw up our grows :tokin:

Hey man, I'm just glad I could help! Especially after all the help you've given me! :thanks:

LMAO on your metric system comment! :)

childs medicine syringe... One of my favorite tools. Def much easier than pouring into the little cup f**k that... Its for the birds...iv prolly spilled more nutes using one of those than iv fed lmao :loopy:

exactly!!! ;)

WEEKLY RES CHANGE PICS

I just did the weekly res changes on the waterfarms. I am continuing with the Big Bud and will start the Overdrive in a couple more weeks or so. I did up the PPM's this week.

Here's the state of the buds today:

Happy Harvests!

SAAAWEEEAT!!
Iv got a few questions if u dont mind :passitleft:
What size was your res??
How much do you remove when you do your res change??
Iv only done like two res changes on mine and all seems very well and I kinda dont want to mess up a good thing.
My last grow got a billion res changes im sure lol
I have been told that when you do a res change you dont want to remove 100% of the water because it contains good bacteria that the plants need (or prefer) to servive. Just like with a fish tank you dont remove all the water when you clean their tank.
The inside of my res is clean clean. Maybe due to the fact im using h202??
Plants are looking great man glad to b here :)

T2, I certainly don't mind questions. We're all here to learn! :)

The Waterfarms each hold about 2 gallons of nute solution. I've been doing weekly res changes religiously and when I do, I change 100% of the solution (I do use the old nute solution on my outdoor garden, though!).

I'm using synthetic nutes (not organic), and my res temps pretty consistantly run at 75*F or more, so the weekly res changes are to help prevent root rot, which is common when running DWC at high temps. I do also add H2O2 to the water to help oxygenate and further prevent root rot, and was turned on to Dutch Masters Gold Zone which is a root conditioner/optimizer that's worked out very well.

I was truly expecting root rot on this first grow and was really unsure I'd be able to do hydro in the warm climate I'm in, but one of the things I've learned & proven to myself is that as long as you're diligent with the res changes, you can run hydro at higher temps.

FYI, you do need to be careful using H2O2 when using organics, since it can kill the beneficial bacteria, too!

The general "rule of thumb" I've read on the Waterfarms is to add the 2 gals of nute solution on res change, then top-off during the week with plain PH'd water (no nutes). Once you've topped off with another 2 gallons of plain H2O, then you should do another full res change.

This is not to suggest you change what you're doing. If you're having good luck with minimal res changes, no need to change it! It's just what I've been doing with the Waterfarms.

I hope this helps!

BTW...when I do the weekly res changes, I also break everything down, soak/scrub all the components with bleach or H2O2, rinse it all real good, and then put it all back together...oh, and of course, take lots of pics! :)

I cleaned all my stuff today as well :) made a huge difference with the air tubes i have. No res change though. I just added a couple gallons of nute mix. Why just top off with plain water?? Why not add nutes with it?
I do have a ppm meter i just never got around to learning how to use it??

The top-off with plain water is because there are still nutes present, just not at as high a PPM after topping off, but still enough to feed the plants.

You should learn how to use your PPM meter. If your plants are drinking more water than they are uptaking nutes, and you keep adding nute solution at the same PPM's, over time your PPM's will continue to rise and you'll eventually get nute burn/lockout.

Hi T2 - one problem with topping off with more nutes is that plants "cherry pick" the nutrients and take out certain nutrients and leaving others. If you keep adding more nutrients, you are potentially adding more of certain nutrients than the plant can take/need and the balance of nutrients in the reservoir gets out of wack - I'm not sure if I'm explaining this right - but that's the general gist. A ppm meter helps measure the total dissolved solids in the nutrient solution, but you don't really know what it's composed of so it's hard to only replenish the parts that need to be replenished.

IMHO it's better to only top off with more water if needed, and do weekly res. changes so that you're starting from a clean, known slate again. I personally like knowing where my PPM's are and find my TDS pen (PPM meter) very useful. Just my 2 cents worth!

:bong:

Thanks, WnF! I am like a proud papa, but mine's not the one with the smile - mine's the one with the big cola! :)

:biglaugh: I think it was Thailand last time I saw a gal with one of those.
