QUICK UPDATE - WE HAVE TRICH'S!

OK...one more quick update. I was all jealous of WnF who has some really nice frosting going on with his Euphoria's and has been in flower for about a week less than the AK (actually, WnF, you know I'm really happy for you!), so I just scoured the AK to see if I could find any signs she was starting to frost up, and sure enough, I found a few.

So, I figured I try taking a few trichome shots. I hope you appreciate the pics, cuz' they weren't easy! I had to hold a 20x jewelers loupe in front of the cell phone's lens, focus the cell, then move the loupe/camera together to the correct distance to focus on the trichs! I sure hope this gets easier with the microscope I ordered or this journal will be real light on trich shots!

Here's my first attempts worthy of posting:

Ok, 29 pages later and I finally made it! Your plants look so amazing Krip, especially considering all the obstacles that were in your way early on. Glad you're stoked on your ladies, I remember the feeling of my first 'flowers' (was just a few months ago!)

Keep up the good work man, I'm subbed for the remainder. :grinjoint:

Thanks Marley! :thanks:

Sorry about the 29 pages. See what happens when you go away for a while? :)

At least I had lots of pics for you!

Good to have you back, especially since you shared my pain in the beginning! :high-five:

Hi Mr. Krip ! :)

Those are great pictures.....must have been really hard to do. So your getting a picture taking microscope? Can't wait to see em. I had an eyecyclops, but it's for younger hands than mine. Ended up giving to my helper.
Your grow is really rolling now.
:cheer:

Excellent Mr. Krip! Nice job on the shots too!

Your plants are looking great and are in the home stretch now. Good parenting Sir!:thumb:

Thanks, WnF! Yours are looking great, too! Can't wait for BYOND! :grinjoint:

Thanks, OMM, and once again, glad you & Jo are safe there. Frankly, I was a little concerned when you said Jo was staying. Next time, you'll have to kidnap her and bring her with you! :)

Unfortunately, the microscope I ordered is NOT a picture-taking model. But, in addtion to being portable/hand-held and lighted, it also has an attachable stand. So, I'm thinking I'll be able to snip a leaf tip, and using the stand, be able to take some pics much easier.

We'll see how it works out!

QUICK PIC UPDATE

Happy weekend everyone. I've decided to postpone the scheduled res changes until tomorrow. However, I did check on the girls this morning and there were three things I noticed worth mentioning:

1) There was no more room to raise the light and some of the colas were within an inch or so. The hanger that's attached to the light is about 14" long. So, I cut three smaller pieces of chain, attached one end of each to the light and the other ends to a ring. Now, I have over a foot more vertical space that I can adjust in small increments, if needed! :)

Here's what it looks like:

2) For the first time, when I opened the flower chamber, I could detect the smell I was waiting for. Until now, it just smelled like a greenhouse, but not the "skunky" smell I was expecting. I don't have any pics to show the smell, but most of you know what I'm talking about! :grinjoint:

3) Then, I noticed what I think is causing the smell. Where, up until now, the flowers showing were pretty much just a bunch of white hairs, now I can clearly see the buds forming and calyxes starting to swell. You can really see the difference, even in the pics from yesterday!

Here's what they look like today (notice they're starting to frost up, too! :)):

Hi Mr. Krip.

Oh! Oh! That smell! Great! Your pictures are already great. With a scope and a stand you should thrill us all even more.

Side note! Don't tell, but Jo weighs more than I do. If I make her mad she may set on me so I would have stay too! :)

Those pistils are just amazing my friend.

Thanks guys! :thanks:

I'm glad you're enjoying the "budtography"!

I've never been so into taking pics, or taken so many in such a short period of time, but MJ truly is a beautiful plant and quite photogenic, especially at this stage. Each bud is unique in its own way and I find myself spending extended periods of time staring at the pics like artwork (Mother Nature's artwork - not mine!), trying to take in every detail.

Of course, that's probably why they call it "Bud P0rn"! :)

BTW...OMM, I have friends in Oahu and they already pre-warned me about what happens to Hawaiian women AFTER they get married! They also mentioned something about sumo wrestling being in their blood! :)

Yikes! They are right! Jo is a Jersey girl.....that might be even worse. :ganjamon:

WEEKLY UPDATE

The AK just started her fifth week (29 days) of 12/12 with the Haze two days behind. I just did the res changes on the Waterfarms and topped off the hempys for girls in veg.

I kept the waterfarms at the same PPM's using the same mixture as last week. I will likely hold at these levels (1500PPM and 1400PPM for the haze) until two weeks before final flush when I'll stop the Big Bud and start adding Overdrive.

Let's start with Little Lucy today....She's definately liking the larger hempy much better, or maybe she's just getting better light. She's starting to grow a bit, which is nice, but she's still puny, and even her individual leaves are tiny. Almost no branching out, so I'll likely LST her when she gets just a little taller, but she looks good and her color is probably the best its been in a while:

The Hempy Haze is nice, full, and lush:

The Pineapple Express is also really looking good after being UBT'd then each of her four colas topped again. I hear the look and smell are better than the meds, but have to admit it is a really nice looking plant:

The AK Clone is about ready for her own big hempy, but holding off to save on floor space and hopefully slow down her growth a little:

cl19.jpg

The first PE top I cloned is still working on getting her roots to the res of the mini hempy:

cl29.jpg

And, the four PE cola tops I cloned last weekend are all still alive, none have wilted, and they're just starting to yellow, which I've learned is a sign they're using stored nutes to work on their root system, so I think they'll all take:

Next post will be update on the flower side with more good bud art!

WEEKLY UPDATE #2 - FLOWER

OK...not much has changed on the flower side since my last set of pics yesterday, but since that side is so much fun, I had to get some more pics.

First, here's the AK who now stands about 30" tall and had buds everywhere:

Here's BOTH the AK & Haze soaking in the rays together while playing in their pools:
