DIY Stealth Cab, Hydro, LED & Multiple Strains in Small Space - Oh Boy!

I had considered that Lucy might be rootbound, too. The factors that signal it may not be the case are that she has basically been stunted since day #1 (long before she would have been rootbound), and, I can't see any roots trying to make their way towards the drain hole.

So, I tend to believe she's not rootbound, but most likely I'll transplant her this weekend after I do res changes.

If she's not rootbound, do you think cloning her may result in a better plant, considering part of the problem may be that she was started in that STG cube?

I've also considered just "lollipopping" her and flowering her as a single cola plant, but I do want to try to maintain that LS* strain and after her, I'm down to only one seed!

I guess I'll try cloning her and see what happens, but taking suggestions till Saturday's res changes! :)

Interesting thought transplanting her at that size. I'm far too inexperienced to offer a suggestion on that. Reading required. One caveat I can think of is that if the strain is of high import to you, then taking the bird in hand might serve that interest more safely and in less time. If you to continue cultivating her, even if failure began to occur, you'd still have the option of taking her top. Then again my judgement may be severely muted by this new kush I got. Baked. Out. :smokin: Forgive me, I cheated and started the party early!

If the problem lies in Lucy's genetics, cloneing will give the same results, if the problem is envirnmental, such as if she she's rootbound, or due to the medium, then cloneing her may help.

NEP, I understand and agree. That's why the question! :)

So, what should I do? Do you think the ongoing issue could be related to starting her in an STG cube (or some other environmental factor), or is her dwarfism genetic so cloning in rockwool or another medim will give essentially the same results???

QUICK UPDATE - NO PICS

Just a quick update...All the girls are still doing well. I made a couple more slight adjustments to the AK LST but also have spent quite a bit of time over this last week making sure any of the dead/dying leaves on the bottom of the plant were removed to help prevent mold and increase air circulation. I've also been moving around the leaves and branches to make sure as much light gets to as many of the bud sites as possible. The canopy is pretty thick, and not as much air or light is getting through as they used to. I may end up connecting the 6" clamp-on AirKing fan just to help move the air at the top of the canopy.

The other piece of news to update on is that the PE top I cloned when I did the UBT now has a taproot showing from the bottom of the grow cube. I removed the humidity dome from her and will most likely move her to a mini-hempy this weekend. In fact, she'll most likely get Lucy's hempy when I transplant her to a larger container. :grinjoint:

PIC UPDATE WITH LOTS OF PICS!

Great day, all! I just did the weekly res changes and maintenance so it's time for an update with lots of pics this week. :)

First, on the veg side, the hempy haze is taking off nicely and, due to the LST, really bushing out for a sativa:

hh5.jpg

The PE was extremely bushy, too, from the UBT and her four tops were really cool. But, I couldn't resist going back and topping her four tops:

pe9.jpg

But, as a result, I now have four more PE clones trying to root:

cl3.jpg

The first PE clone I took when I did the UBT now has a nice root showing from the bottom of the cube. I haven't put her in a mini hempy just yet, but I'm sure that will happen this weekend:

cl26.jpg

And, the AK clone is soundly rooted, healthy, and doing just fine:

cl16.jpg

Now, just a quick little peak at the flower side:

f117.jpg

The Haze is still doing her best to claim her side of the cabinet:

hz11.jpg

I gave her a nice, healthy dose of nutes today, PPM's at 1360 and PH at 5.74. She's definately taking longer to develop than the AK, but I expected from the breeders' literature that she would finish about 10 days later, so it's not that big of a surprise. Here's what her buds are looking like:

hz21.jpg

hz3.jpg

The AK I am very impressed with and if the meds turn out half as good as she looks and grows, I'll be VERY pleased! :)

I decided to really push her nutes this week. Today starts week #4 of 12/12 for her and I upped her PPM's to 1540 and PH was the same as the haze, at 5.74.

Here's what she's looking like today:

A closer look at her canopy and you can see all the bud sites. I've counted over 20! :grinjoint: :

And, here's her beautiful bud development which has really been notable this week:

I can't wait to see what this week brings! :morenutes:

Happy Harvests and thanks to everyone for the help! :thanks:

:welldone::goodjob::morenutes:

Looking good in there K~.

Remember Bro, Cannabis not addicting! Growing Cannabis addicting as Hell!!!!!!!:yahoo:

It will be interesting to see how things turn out, considering the fact those had massive root ball loss to start with. Amazing how resilient Cannabis really is, because lord knows I tried to kill mine off before even got started; can laugh about it now (not really! LMAO).

Waited till now to chime in on Lucy; my vote is just Lollipop her & forgetaboutit! Get fresh DNA if you want to grow that strain again, IMO.

Again looking very good my friend & looking forward to your Harvest!

Happy Grows ~H~

Thanks guys! :thanks:

MORE BUD PORN!

Looking at my pics from today, I realized I was in a little rush trying to take pictures in the middle of res changes, etc. and the shots really weren't that good. So, I couldn't resist going back in the flower chamber tonight and getting a couple of better pics. :)

Enjoy!:

Hi Mr Krip ! :ganjamon:

All looks great! I loved that you topped the tops on the PE. :yummy:

NEPharmer is right, if you clone a weak plant, the clones will be the same.
It's a shame because those Lucys are really fine powerful smoke.

Your doing great my friend!

Thanks, OMM. The second topping of the PE was based on your suggestion, so you better like it!!! :)

I know that NEP is correct. I was simply trying to find some way to "save" little Lucy, since she's not much use as-is. The only things I can think of that would be environmental and not genetic would either be the size of the container, or the fact that she was started in an STG grow cube. The other environmentals (temp, humidity, nutes, etc.) are the same as all the other plants in veg, so should not be the issue.

Tranplanting into a larger container is easy but the only way to take the STG grow cube out of the equation would be to take a clone and start it in something different. This is why I was suggesting the possibility of cloning at this point.

And, NEP is also correct that there isn't much there to clone, but frankly, if she doesn't start filling out now that she's in a bigger container, I wouldn't mind cutting her entirely out of the STG cube and letting the entire plant re-root in rockwool if I thought that it would make her "normal".

Chrgrs probably has the real answer, which is that this plant is not going to recover and, assuming I want to grow LS*, I should start with a fresh seed. This is most likely what will happen, I'm just trying to see if I can come with some way to salvage the exising runt before I use my last LS* seed.

With my current lack of space, it's probably best to toss her entirely, work on growing the other three strains, and get to the LS* sometime in the future. Again, I'm pretty convinced I won't be able to maintain four strains concurrently in the existing space, and even three will be pushing it, since when I built the cab, I had planned for only two strains. But, I definately want the LS* to be one of them!

Looking awesome in flower! Just took quick glance back at your pics. In my honest opinion, it is the best part of the grow (besides the first hit of course... ;) ) to see those female parts start to show.

Thanks, W1se! Yeah, I have to agree 100% that this is the most fun phase of the grow. Plus, this is the furthest I've ever been in a personal grow, so it probably makes it even more exciting for me, but I'm in total awe watching all these buds develop and start to pack on some mass. I keep trying to imagine how full they're going to be when she's done, but I'll have to wait a few more weeks to find out.

My original goal was for 2-4 oz. per harvest for personal use only, so if I get anywhere close on my first grow, I'll be pretty happy.

If she doesn't respond, I agree throw her out (gulp). it makes sense. Just care for the good ones. There will be another time for her strain. You sound like me...I always want to grow too many. :ganjamon:

Lookin awesome K, all looks good except lucy huh??? That sucks.... What have you been feeding her if anything? She kinda has a burned tinge to her, the la blanca I have had that going on for awhile, I think the ocean forest was a little too much for her but now that she's grown out of her container and into a bigger one shes fine now. I'm sure you flushed her but I'd try that and try to work her up from straight water to a real light dose of nutes for a bit gaining ppm everytime you feed her. When my plant that was acting like that I just kept ppm real low but mine wasnt stunted though so you have some extra work with that.

I'd try working her in slow under some lower light if you can, give her a set amount of time and if she doesnt show any improvement give her the ax. It sucks but sometimes ya gots ta...

Also K I dont know what happened to my journal but its no more for whatever reason and I dont really wanna push the issue with the mods, although I'd like a reason why, they dont really have to give me one, which they havent even responded to my PM's but H pointed out one of his places he showed you as well, I will probably be hanging out over there for the time being, it was great meeting you guys and I'll be stopping by from time to time to see how your grow and a few others are going.

I wish you the best luck K, you deserve a good grow dude, you've definitely earned it.

Catch ya later...

Yup...I have a hunch that's exactly what's going to happen, but until I get real pushed on space in the veg side, we'll see what we can do with her.

W, yeah, I flushed her last week (maybe it was two weeks ago) when she had some lock-out, but it's definately improved and I don't believe her dwarfism is related since, like I said, she was stunted since her first set of leaves.

Dude, all I can say is "WTF!" on your journal :thedoubletake:

And, you haven't had a response from any of the Mod's???

ATTN MODERATORS: IS THERE ANY WAY YOU CAN HELP W RESTORE HIS JOURNAL?

W, Feel free to PM me a link to your new journal (wherever it is!) and I'll check it out, but I'm sure the fine folks here at :420: will get you straightened out.

I know 420 had some hacker/malware issue last week and apparently, they lost some posts and data, but I'm assuming that's because they had to restore from the most recent backup. I can't understand how they would lose an entire journal (that wasn't recently created) unless they forgot to restore some user folders or something.

Either way, I appreciate the good wishes & comradery and hope they get you taken care of soon.

:goodluck: and let me know what happens!

QUICK UPDATE W/ PICS

There's really not a whole lot to update today, since not a lot has changed since my Satuday update, but it's a good excuse to post more bud porn, so here it is... :)

The Hempy Haze is looking GREAT:

hh6.jpg

And, the PE is making a quick recovery since I topped all four of her tops:

pe10.jpg

I've trimmed the rooted AK clone a few times to help her fill out. She'll need to go to a larger hempy soon. When she does, I'll most likely dump Lucy The Runt, to make room:

Speaking of Lucy The Runt...

Here's the original PE clone taken a couple of weeks ago now:

And, here are the four PE clones taken this weekend. None of them have wilted, so far:

On the flower side, the AK is drinking a half gallon of water per day and isn't bothered by the 1540 PPM nutes I gave her on Saturday and the haze is also doing fine, just a little further behind.

Here come the buds!
