Derbybud Does CBD Strains In Coco & More

Haha I don’t follow the 42 days, I wish I could get things done that fast like @Asesino85. I veg mine for 60 days maybe longer sometimes. I let mine grow until I see 5 solid nodes (One node-1 leaf, 2nd node-2 leafers, 3rd node-3 leafs etc.) I don’t count the cotelydons (however that’s spelt). I pinch off the 5th node at its neck. Then I eat it! For realz;) I cut away everything but the 4 main branches (quad).

Then I do some “finger training” and brush them gently everyday in the way I want them to go. I tie em up and strap them down a week later;)

I always like to top sooner than later and leave all the nodes I can.... (I if I want nodes 3 and 4 I top after 5 forms). Is there a benefit to cutting off more of the plant???

My lens was supposed to be delivered today.... but nothing yet. I'm sure by Saturday. Can't wait to start the close ups in a few weeks

If referring to topping after letting the plant grow a few extra nodes, the benefit is just letting them grow naturally for longer without stress. The plant just gets off to a stronger start as the roots and everything are more developed. It does increase veg time though as you lose however many days it took to grow the extra nodes. Also the earlier the training starts, the lower I can keep the plant in case I get a plant like the Blue Dream in my last grow that decided to go crazy.

Also if your question was more of a why do you cut off nodes one and two? It's because I just want everything to go through 4 main branches. Those 1st and 2nd node branches just seem to get in the way when training and never end up quite as good as the other branches. "Guiding Energy" concept.

Nobody is wrong in all the assessments of how to quadline. It's all about the X shape and not really what node you do it at. Although I do like doing it early to get the base started. It's the fastest way.

The idea is to veg 42 days so you want the recovery time to be quick

Good Lord!!! To me that seems like an interminable amount of time to veg! Why so long? Does that training stunt growth that badly?

@Asesino85 is the great mind behind it and I hope he stops by to straighten the butchering I'm about to tell ya. Take a photo plant and top it after it has at least 7 nodes back down to the 5 th one. Remove all other growth under the 4 th node. Now take and pin those 2 sets of nodes down too look like an X trying to keep them at the same height. Now you just let everything grow off that base. You keep removing anything that's blocking bud sites and everything under the canopy. Stop by and look over his plants or Dobewan. His journal is Ase's Multi-strain Quadlining in Coco. He has a great feed schedule too.
I'm going to try this on my older clone and qaudline another flowering one and see what shakes out

The training doesn't stunt the growth much at all. Veg time is dependent on the size of area you have for your plants. Most growers here on 420 don't have resources quite like you do Rider. We're relying on airflow for our plants co2 intake and some of us don't have the best of environments in our tents. We're trying but not the perfect scenario in most cases so we might need to veg a little longer.

Oh god, I hope my questions weren't perceived negatively. My only experience with training is a bit of LST and supercropping. I had no idea how doing the topping and training to make a quadline would impact the plants. It's all new to me! But I can def see the benefit for maximizing yield in a given space. Some of the plants I've seen are compact bud monsters and I'm floored by how many colas can be amassed in such tight formation. Kudos to everyone who has the skills to make it happen.

Ok I'm a bit cornfused on the clip of nod 1 and 2 of 5
Also to get the 4 arms, I'm assuming those take time after the top, and assume they are the small shoots left on the remaining nodes

Am I close????

Not quite. Top to 5 th node and remove from the bottom everything up to the 4 th. The 4 th and 5 th node make up your X that you try to keep flat. Everything will sit on that X for the whole grow. It gets super strong because all resources are going to just those 2 nodes and building off of it. All shoots that come off off those 2 nodes you try to keep the same height.

My mind isn't wrapping around this

Do we have a pic of a freshly topped and quadded baby, I saw the one above but it's pretty old

I googled it but didn't find anything

Sorry all but this looks fantastic for some of those damn streatching sativa girls I grow
