Deege420 Outdoor Garden

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

yea the leaf miners really make stuff look ugly. and I'm sure they are putting daily stress on the plants. gonna look into azamax and azatrol. i know you've told me this stuff before but i neglected to listen :x and got pyrethrin which is highly recommended by a lot of growers. but isn't doing the trick.Does azamax or azatrol come concentrated? do you have to add dish soap or any of that? or just like 2ml per gallon of water type stuff?

That does sound like quite the cocktail of sprays. I prefer to use as little pesticides as possible so I like that I can use one product versus several and it is OMRI certified!

Yes Azamax/Azatrol is more of a broad spectrum killer. It comes in concentrated form with a measuring device built into the bottle, they also make a sprayer bottle that comes with pre-measured vials but I like to use it as a soil drench also.

It is a golden yellow syrup type liquid that turns white when mixed with water. Almost looks like milk after being mixed, kind of neat how it changes Lol

To clarify about the defoliation, I meant 420fied defoliates all his plants after he ran a test to determine if it was beneficial. I'm pretty sure he doesn't grow autos though but I don't see why autos would require special defoliation. The point of defoliating is to expose the bud sites to light by removing unnecessary fan leaves that shade the bud sites so I don't see why autos would be any different because their bud sites still need light too just like photo period plants.

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

If your going to use DE make sure you get the food grade only, If you get the other it can clog up and cause lack of oxygen to your soil.:peace:

I'm pretty sure he doesn't grow autos but I wouldn't see how it would effect it differently. If anything I would just go a little lighter on the defoliation with autos since they have a shorter determined lifespan.

Fan leaves are important but so is light hitting bud sites so you have to find a happy medium. Try to remove the fans that shade the colas.

I've pretty much trimmed a plant naked and it was a full on bush two weeks later

I can almost guarantee they are fungus gnats! They are very common and could of even been in the soil you purchased, MG & Roots are known for having infested soils.

The adults you see flying above ground don't really pose any threats since they live for such a short amount of time. The problem is they plant larvae in your soil that hatches and feeds on the roots before they emerge as adults.

I swear by Azamax & Azatrol. Even though they are expensive I like them because they are more of a broad spectrum killer versus a specific pest. Instead of getting several products for fungus gnats, spider mites, caterpillars, etc I just get one that takes care of all of them. They are OMRI certified and can be applied up to the day of harvest. Just give your plants a soil drench every 4-7 days to get rid of the fungus gnats. I think after about three doses they should be pretty much gone.

I still give foliar and soil drenches every two weeks even if I am pest free and I would recommend you do the same. Like most pesticides it is more effective when used to prevent infestations rather then exterminating existing infestations.

You can also top dress with a layer of Diatomaceous Earth (DE) to prevent fungus gnat & other soil-borne infestations. If you don't want to do both I would choose the Azamax/Azatrol over the DE

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

Man, I think that thing looks awesome defoliated. It's just gonna be a big bud sticking out of dirt!!!

I would think it'd be okay to defoliate but maybe leave a couple of the lowest leaves so they have a food reserve if they need it and can still photosynthesize. I have also heard/read that taking all the bigger leaves off make your little sugar leaves more prominent and grow more, which could lead to a greener taste. Mostly just my speculations though. I hope it works for you!:thumb:

I had seen a couple little fungus gnats around and was able to kill half of them. Unfortunately, I am starting to see more which means I'm sure I have hundreds if not thousands I can't see that are just waiting for wings.

OMM just suggested I try Azamax, so as soon as I get paid I will be picking some up, doing a soil drench, and then foliar feeding, then posting in my journal if it worked. I have heard a lot of good about it so I'm sure it'll be worth it.

I have also heard/read that adding a layer of perlite to the top of the dirt will make your soil less appealing to the little buggers. Gonna give that a try as well!!

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

you may find that taking all the leaves off will force the leaves in the buds to grow bigger giving you leafy bud, its what i read in another journal, some people prune others dont, both seem to work just fine

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

well I guess we shall see in the next three weeks! I just did a bit of a lighter defoliation on the wembley auto and I think I'm gonna leave the Vertigo auto and see which works best. I know it won't be totally accurate tho since They are 3 different strains. But I will see the substantial differences. Thanks so much for all the feedback and input guys! So far nothing that makes me regret the defoliation. THANKS GUYS!

Is one of the main ingredients thats in azamax/azatrol pyrethrin? Cuz thats what I have and it yellowish and turns milky when i add it to water. Its actually really awesome to watch ahha.

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

i have defoliated my autos as well, i pull any leaves that are blocking any other leaves or bud sites, i found doing this to mine got it growing like crazy, it went from not much growth to loads, its as if the light was not getting to other parts of the plant and it was just making the leaves that was in the light getting bigger, so these leaves where blocking the light getting to the nodes below and blocking the growth at these nodes, as soon as i take the leaves off within say 4 hours i can notice a huge difference in growth at the nodes and lower branches, i think if i didnt pull these leaves then it would of taken a lot longer to get the lower parts to grow, as it would of meant the plant getting bigger before the light got in, on the autos the leaves seem very tightly packed,

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

exciting to mix up the next batch haha! do u have one of the Milliliter squirter things? that makes the injection of the liquid even cooooooollllerrr haha. I just made up me new stuff. Im gna record a SLO- MO video of this stuff mixing into water lol. absolutely crazy

Looking awesome how far along are they into flowering?

re: Deege420 Outdoor Garden

loving the pics mate, congrats on the nice plants, cant wait till mine get to that stage, my slow auto that i was going to pull up and throw in the bin just wont stop growing, its in flower, but it grew really slow from day one and didnt go into flower until 7 weeks or more, now it seems that its started to flower and this to is very slow, the growth is rapid but the actual flowering part is slow, it seems the plant just wants to keep growing, i am going to have to re-pot it me thinks, i wonder if the auto i got was not a indica with ruderalis, what if the auto i got was a cross from the indica ruderalis crossed till seeded, then the seeds grown so its 50 auto 50 indica, so im wondering if they then grew this 50 50 , and crossed the female 50 50 with another indica so in theory it would be 75% indica and 25% ruderalis, im wondering if you could keep breeding it out like this so that the plant has a longer growing time but will also flower under any schedule, to me this sounds like it could be a good idea, if i had more room id try crossing and seeing what happens, its give me something to think about, might need to order me some more autos, so i can have a male auto and fem none auto, and then cross the off spring from them to and see what happens, or maybe im just to stoned and thinking way more than i should be,

either way, great pics mate, i cant wait till mine are further along, i need to sort out the smell, my place stinks real bad,
