DC's First Indoor Multi-Strain

When you don't grow organic do you amend the Promix with anything? I've been thinking about adding worm castings or 1 or 2 parts of a quality soil to make it a littler more newbie friendly.
I believe @InTheShed uses promix also. Maybe he knows more about what you can do with it. I’ve only ever used it with the organic stuff and it all comes together in a kit. Lol. I add castings to mine but I’m not sure how it might effect the amounts of nutrients you would be adding. The EWC add nitrogen to the soil I’m pretty sure so you might would need to keep an eye out for signs of too much N and cut back on the nutes if you see them.

Hey DeeCee
Looking great!
Ive used Promix HP and fed my plants General Hydroponics FLora Trio. I think that is what you are using? I saw in your pic.
Ive had some really great success growing in soil less mixes. I am curently doing a grow In sunshine mix #4. Check out my grow journal and see my results
I have a pretty awesome nutrient feed schedule I could give you if needed. I pretty much Only grow in medium like you.
Im gonna pull up a stump.
You should check my grow!

As for watering, I feed every second watering, and I water/feed, as soon as the top inch of the soil is dry. I stick my finger in an inch. LOL If it feels wet I wait, if its dry I water
The big think to remember with soil less mixes, is to supply calcium and magnesium. (CaliMagic). Weed plants use a lot of it. all throughout their life. Was only problem I have ever run into growing in soil less mixes. Buy General Hydroponics CaliMagic and problem solved

I'm in Promix HP as well and it needs nothing else but good nutes. It's a neutral soil-less medium and adding EWC to it would mess with the NPK ratio of your nutes as Magoo mentioned.

The best way to decide when to water your plants is by weight, so get a feel for how heavy the pot is when you first plant and again when you water. Then water when the pot gets close to the dry weight, as cannabis likes a good wet/dry cycle in veg. In flower I don't let it get quite as dry between watering.

In terms of how often to feed, go with the manufacturer's recommendations. I use MegaCrop and nothing else, and I feed every time.

Great advice from everyone, thanks alot for coming by!

I had a feeling I was pulling the classic newb over loving and over watering! I will try out Magoos scale method as itd be interesting to see the numbers move and then once I get a feel for the dry weight I'll be able to tell on my own.

I thought I would have to add Calmag but was going to hold off. I'll pop out this weekend and grab some.

I found a feeding schedule online from GH I'll post it up soon when I check on them and see what you guys think of it.

Hey hippy Canuck I'll definitely check your journal out, you should link it in your signature!

Congrats @Backlipslide on expecting a new baby! They sure do always result in more work I have 3 myself!
Thank you sir!

:Namaste:

youve got three? All boys, all girls? Mixed match?

I’ve got one 2 year old girl right now.:thumb: Thanks man!!

What’s your thoughts on this @Backlipslide
Yeah man, sounds great!!

I’ve never needed to weigh my plants on a scale though, just get a feel for what it weighs after planting, after feeding and after a few days of drying out.

@DeeCee112

It’s key to have a good wet/dry cycle, like everyone has been saying. If your unsure about when to water, feel the weight, go another day if you have to. The worst that will happen is the plant starts to droop and looks sad/depressed. Hit her with some water and she will bounce back within a few hours.

Have I ever told you why plants love BLT’s?

2 girls aged 4 one mine one my girlfriend and a 2yr old boy. We have quite the blended family dynamic, difficult at times but I have phenomenal support for my girlfriend with the kids. We are actually going to see the Wiggles today haha

And yeah I'm going to back off on the watering and see where that droopy limit is so I can see how long that takes then go from there, very thankful for all this advice! I've grown vegetables my whole life but this is all a whole nother ballgame.

I agree to the it can be difficult at times, definitely understand that! The blended family dynamic will blend in to one and just flow like a river in no time! You guys sound like you support each other, and I have no doubt that everything will work out!
Sounds like you have a beautiful family!! :thumb:

Ahh the wiggles lol!! My daughter loved that crap, she’s more into paw patrol or Dora the explorer, or super why, lol the list goes on! I’m just throwing a blank right now. Paw patrol is on the tv right now, and my daughter snuggled up with me, with her head on my chest right now... I don’t get too many of these moments!
I wanted to take her to the wiggles when they were in Alberta, but tickets were super hard to find!

I helped out in the gardens when I was young, I hated it. I’ve grown a few flowers like 8 years ago, but that’s about it. My dad always wanted me to like gardening, just not the same gardening he originally wanted :laughtwo: I’ve given him a big baggy of my home grown so he’s super appreciative to my gardening, now! Lol:laugh:

sorry for the long reply.. oh you never answered did I ever tell you why plants love BLT’s?

DeeCee.
Use this. Every plant I have ever grown was following this. I find manufacturers are way to strong. This works verrry well

Plants love a BLT (bacon lettuce tomato sandwich)

When you feed a plant a BLT but not feed the entire surface of soil, and not water till you see run off. Your plant is getting a lot of bacon, a lil lettuce and lil to no tomato. The soil looks dry, so you feed her with another BLT, giving her another large dose of bacon, a lil lettuce and lil to no tomato, As well as the left over scraps from the lettuce and tomato before. Giving them a mixed dose of BLT. With an improper feeding technique can lead to nutrient lockout or other deficiency problems.

Feeding properly now. You give the plant a nice BLT! Watering the entire surface of soil, let it all run down, filling up the surface of your soil again, and let it drain. Repeat until you see run off. Ensuring you that all of the roots are being fed the entire BLT given. Doing so also ensures your pulling oxygen down with the water, giving a great amount of oxygen to those roots as well, because oxygen is just as important to those roots as the nutrients are.

After you feed them, pick the pot up and feel the weight of the pot. This will give you a good determination on when to water again. The pots will be very light.

You need to create your self a good wet/dry cycle for your plants. So make sure you get a feel for a fed pot, to an empty pot! :thumb:

You did tell me. About the BLT method great analogy!

Yeah that one looks like lesser amounts than mine, I'll post it soon. Do you feed every watering or something like feed feed water?

I feed every second watering. Even when I just water I still add Calimagic. And in flower, I also add Koolbloom to my waterings. I also always add GH floralicious to my waterings.
