DC's First Indoor Multi-Strain

Everyone seeks to be progressing nicely.. I think anyway. The hash plant in the pot hasn't stretched or seemed to do much. I hope it's just been busy growing good roots!

Might transplant the other three into pots as well tonight or does anyone suggest leaving them in pucks for a day or two?

I decided to mix some Promix seed starter soil into my Promix bx to give them some nutrients for the first couple weeks. Only mixed in about 1 part to 3 Part soil less, well see how it goes!

The 300w led looks like the larger whiter LEDs and the 600w is the blurple smaller style. Any suggestions on how to best utilize both of them? Maybe rotate plants to ensure they get some of both. I realize they a pretty cheap and not optimal but I'll make it work for this run and upgrade next grow.

They look good!

sorry I was distracted by the steel stud wall in the back ground... typical construction guy here! I deal with those almost everyday all day!

looks to be a 3 and 5/8 stud... but it’s upside down lol

back to the plants. They look good!
I always try to stay clear of those pots. Not saying don’t use them, just saying I always stay clear of them. I read an article a while ago that they like to hold on to unwanted bacteria. I wish I could find it, I’d share it with you, but keep doing what your doing man! They look great!

Yeah I'm a Millwright myself. I've never used metal studs before myself and inherited the half built wall your seeing. There's some leftover too so I might try it out when I finish the basement instead of wood. The guy I bought this house from was an electrician, which you think would be good but.. Ive found a bunch of sloppy work and issues.

It's funny I've learned you don't buy a car from a mechanic for the same reason. They know what they can and can't get away with for cheap fixes!

Anyway I feel you on the pots thing. Since they were first watered they feel just like wet cardboard.. Like damp and yucky. May switch to solo cups or some other plastic pots before its too late and roots have spread.

Nice! My job title is an Interior System Mechanic lather. I love my job!

that’s funny the wife and I bought a house that was owned by a ex wife of a Plummer, and there was a lot of shotty work. A lot was hidden. The house inspector was nothing but a crook and now my basement is falling apart. Horray for owning houses!!

you could probably leavethem in the cupsuntil they need to be transplanted to a bigger pot. No sense stressing the plant out until they actually need the extra room. I would just poke extra holes in the bottoms of your pots and roll with the punches. Then next time, just start out in solo cups, or small pot similar in size to a solo cup. :thumb:

Yeah I've been reading your Blue Angel journal and saw that you were battling with some leaks. Did you end up solving that? Was it from the foundation or plumbing? Also just want to say thanks so much for following along here man and helping me out, I really appreciate it. I know there's a million journals on the go here.

Last night I watered the three newer seedlings until about 5% runoff and got ballsy and threw in 1/4 strength nutes for the hash plant. I know its early and I'm suffering from classic overdo it newbie syndrome but it was a super light dose anyway! This morning checkup, soil is still moist and they all look happy enough. I am thinking of skipping tonights watering to let them get a little drier.

I moved all 4 under the 300w light - it is putting out a brighter light and I just don't trust the blurple dull 600w light yet and the soil feels cooler under it as it is putting out almost no heat. I don't like the thought of cold soil in those cardboard pots. I think the 300w should be sufficient for at least awhile to get them going. I've got it down to 12" from the seedlings without any light burn showing. I've been shopping MARS lights on amazon but I think these will be fine while I learn the basics before I put any more money into this. I am going to pop out today to buy a 4 or 6" small fan to get some air going over them to strengthen the stems. Right now I've left my inline fan off as I don't want to drop the humidity any more it is already getting dry down there, but all opening of the tent are open.

A friend is offering me a larger 5x7ish' tent for free in exchange for supplying him with some of the product grown in it. I'm not sure I need that much space...but free is free! He ended up with over a pound from his outdoor grow this summer so decided he didn't need it.

Anyway here's a quick summary with the first week down:

Week 1
Filtered water with 1/4 dose of B52, PH @ 6.2-6.5.
1x 300w LED RohR light @ 12".
RH 42-49%, Temp - 22-25C
Seeds germinated via glass of water followed by paper towel into jiffy cubes or straight in jiffy cubes - 4/4
Medium - 1/4 Promix Seedling Starter Soil, 3/4 Promix HP Mycorrhizae
Oct 6 - Hash Plant emerges
Oct 9- Blue Dream and TO Cookies emerge

Pics to follow nex post via my phone!

Forgot to mention, I harvest two green crack plants about a week apart. Both have been in jars for roughly 2-3 weeks and burped daily. The first harvest I have been stalled at 67-68 RH in the jar and the second around 71 RH. I know cure zone is 60-65 So today I took them all out and mixed them together and left them out for 24hrs in a small plastic bin in a single layer. Back into jars and after 24hrs we are at 61-63 RH so looks like it worked exaclty as planned. I'll be backing off to once or twice a week burps soon.

I also got 40 grams of OG Kush that I tried dry trim method. I let it dry longer and slower. I found it a much more difficult trim to do with the sugar leaves all curled in but damn were they sticky and trichome covered - if cut wet I likely wouldve taken a lot more off. I think next time I'll try a combination of the both - wet trim fan leaves and the ends of larger leaves and then close trim after dry....anyway I'm rambling point of the story is these buds hit the jar at a perfect 62 RH straight from hanging. Lesson learned - now I know the difference between the feel of almost dried enough and dried enough!

when they poured the basement floor, they never pushed the concrete to the back corner of underneath my corner staircase landing. So when the ground was so wet, I guess it found the weak spot and let water in. That explains one spot, there was another leak somewhere else in the basement, which I never did find where it come in, but ripped my carpet up in a couple spots, ripped the underlay out where it was wet. I should probably cut a two foot strip off the drywall near the other spot, to check what’s in behind. I’m scared if the foundation needs repairing the concrete patio in my back yard will have to be jack hammered up to fix from the outside.

I also have my tbar ripped apart becauseI’m trying to adjust the tellaposts, to “re level” our house so doors can shut up stairs. They’re the older style where the point you tighten is above the bulk head, now I have to rip apart my bulk head to do all that now too.

my fire place chimney in the basement has collapsed as well, so it’s basically a complete gut and re build... (sigh)

it’s a head ache in a half...

And ya man no problem, I love to help new comers! :high-five:

Damn that is a bad hand....foundation issues are the worst. I've been lucky and only had a small leak on a previous house near the surface that I easily dug up and filled with hydraulic cement.

yeah, definitely dealt a shitty hand! It’s frustrating, and overwhelming.

I had so much to right in the last post, that I forgot you had some questions and stuff.

Talk to @SmokeSara if your looking at buying some mars lights. She is the sale rep for Mars, and could probably swing you a deal!

You may think that tent is big now, and that you don’t need that much room. Just wait till you get it loaded up with plants, you will soon realize that even that tent isn’t enough. I can really only do three plants at a time in my tent, the way I train them. A bigger tent would always be nice. Right now, we’re expecting a baby so, the room I do have for growing. Will be going to either the new baby, or our first born. I will have to rip my tent apart and get it into the basement that’s falling apart, has crap everywhere and needs to be gutted and rebuilt. So I may only have time for one more run, (which is set up on my second journal in my sig) then I will prob have to give growing a bit of a break for a while.

Kicking off week two. All the babies seem to be in good health! Hash plant is definitely head of the pack. Blueberry's leaves are pretty curly not sure if that means anything. Its got a nice bluish purple hue to it.

I noticed that the temp drops to 16c for the 4 hours the lights are off from noon to 4pm. Being true Canadians we don't like to turn the heat on until the last minute so the basement is getting a little chilly. May need to fire the furnace up soon or keep the lights on 24 hrs although I've read that seedlings need some rest too.

Hashplant has been receiving a small dose of nutes on a feed feed water schedule and seems to be taking it very well. I may introduce the same mixture to the other 3 later this week. They have all been very thirsty and some days I water a small amount in the morning and another fill at night. I have been taking an extra day off watering now and then to encourage the roots to seek water and letting a dry/wet cycle establish. Added a 6" fan to pull in fresh air and strengthen the stalks. I also found a resin shelf to get the pots elevated from any residual water and to help them dry out so they aren't constantly soggy. It brought the plants up 2"s closer to the lights now at 10" and I now have both 300w and 600w going side by side. They seem to be tolerating it well.

Hey Magoo thanks for checking in! Final pots will be 5 gallon fabrics.

I love the HP Promix +mycorrhizae. I grow organically and it’s the base mix I use. Good stuff. I don’t even adjust ph for the feedings with it. There are some good links in the post that @TorturedSoul left for you.

I did read a bunch of them. So far so good for me I've only ever grown outdoor planted right in the soil so I don't have much to compare to. They seem to dry out pretty quick which I've read it is supposed to do. I don't often go a day without watering.

When you don't grow organic do you amend the Promix with anything? I've been thinking about adding worm castings or 1 or 2 parts of a quality soil to make it a littler more newbie friendly.

Congrats @Backlipslide on expecting a new baby! They sure do always result in more work I have 3 myself!

I wouldn’t think you would need to be watering daily with your seedlings. When I first Transplant a seedling I will give it a good soaking. It’s usually at least 2 weeks before I water again. Lol. Those little bitty roots won’t be drinking that much. And I try to keep the mentality of the dryer the better. Since indoor growing in a container is new territory for ya, I might would suggest weighing the pot after you water it. Weigh it the next day. And the next. As long as the weight is going down you know you are still losing water weight and getting dryer. The dryer it gets the more vigorously the roots will grow. If they stay moist then they stay content. If they are getting moisture where they are then they aren’t very motivated to move and expand. You don’t want the plant to wilt but you can let it get dry before that would happen. Just my 2 cents. I’ve never weighed mine like I just mentioned but it sounds like it would be a good way to see how long you can go before they are dry. What’s your thoughts on this @Backlipslide ?
