SALT TEST HYGROMETER CALIBRATION

HI ALL :ciao: I was floundering getting the drying job done the other day when @InTheShed suggested I calibrate my hygrometers. He was right. Now I can say without a doubt in my mind what the rh is where ever I put any of these babies.

So, the test calls for table salt in containers dampened with pure water. I used distilled. A few drops stirred in just so I can see grains of salt still. Not too much water. Put that in a sealed container for 24 hours and the rh will max out at 75% exactly. That's all we need to know. I did that and now I have a small army of meters with codes on them. Like +3. That means I found it at 72%rh after 24 hours sealed up in the container of 75%rh. I'll know to add 3 to whatever I see. Easy peasy and now I'm confident of my rh and can dry and cure to perfection as long as I pay attention to the numbers. Here's the simple rig I made and will turn back to kitchen tools when I'm done.

Sorry to arrive so late, @StoneOtter. Due to my tardiness, I'll sit here in the back.:laughtwo:

It's been an interesting and informative read. Sorry about the mass seed loss. I had no idea mice liked weed plants and I thought that cats did like them. So that notion has now been turned on it's head for me! :Rasta:

That last bit of info about calibrating hygrometers is golden! I've often suspected that some of my meters were out of kilter. Now I can see for myself. Thanks (to you and @InTheShed).

Please post updates on how good that pussy is!

YET MORE UPDATE

NEVILLE'S HAZE

This little girl is on her own clock. Today's day 59 and she looks like a school kid. I hope it's a learning curve I can figure out or don't have to. She's healthy and growing. Branches are a branching since topping so that's good. I'm seeing her leaves looking light green and think a new home is in order. If all goes well tomorrow I'll put her in a 7 gallon bag to finish. It's 26 days since I put her in this 1 gallon pot.

The leaves look a little papery and are clawing at the tips. What's that about? Is the RH really low?

I'm thinking time to upcan.
I think I got to serial under watering. I have to watch that. Been keeping the tent in the mid 40's for rh so yes and no. Best I can do this season. I go from one extreme to another here. Good observation!

Highya SO,

I'd say it was time to repot! I'm wondering if she's calcium, nitrogen, and phosphorus deficient a little. I'm guessing some new dirt plus your nutes will have her running again. Happy Vapin'

Usually if I keep them this long in my soil I'll see weird things like this. I'm pretty sure I have a problem watering hard core sativas as well. Something like this happened with a lemon og candy that went super sativa growing on me. There's a time when I think I should be holding back but they really need more. I think we caught it in good time.

UP POT NEVILLE'S HAZE

What day is it? It's hump daaaaay! We're over the hump here on this Wednesday afternoon. Pale Neville's Haze got a new home and I'm already doing the happy dance. She should be a happy camper now. Let's see.

I fixed her pot up all Rev'd up style. I'll explain to any new folks. But first I started this time with @DYNOMYCO in the new soil. 7 teaspoons for 7 gallons of new soil mixed in.
Now I prep my gro bags by misting some water into the bottom of the bag to hold the amendments I'm about to put down. First a tablespoon of The Rev's Flowering Floor mix.
Then on that some piles of ground oyster shell totaling a tablespoon or two. Loose science.
Now to fill the bag with the amended soil and go on with the reverse sandcastle up pot. 27 days in the one gallon pot. Here's the roots pic. Someone tell me about sativa plants growing in cool temps. These roots are solid however i should see this x 100 at this time. Maybe I did chronically underwater this one. Oh well.
Ok then! Time to make spikes! First, there's two spikes. A flowering one and a vegging one. Two each pot around the edge where no roots can touch it for a while and get burned. A total of 4. My tool is a rod about 3/8 inch around and I just push it to the bottom of the pot and carefully pull it out not disturbing the hole.
Filling is easy just pour in. About 1/4 cup each hole in the 7's.
This is what the spikes contain.
And topped off with mulch and watered with ro and some LAB (lactic acid bacteria).

I'm looking forward to seeing her green up some. This electric green now is funky cool and not right. Let's hope the up pot went well. I think it did. One more thing, she's getting 530 umols PAR today. You all have a great day, I will! :passitleft: Pinkman Goo anyone?

Highya SO,

Love your sttention to detail! Those pics tell the whole story. All laid out so even a stoner could follow! Thank you, btw! It will be fun to see how quickly she improves.

I've never heard of feather meal before. Must have some great nutrients in it. Anyways, nice job on the presentation.

Edit: I just looked it up and Nitrogen is the nurtient. Guess I need to look up the other nutrients to see if I can improve my soil. Happy Vapin'

I haven't seen this available locally where I am, I wish it was as it seems another good amendment, but I understand it is a good source of slow release Nitrogen.

Thanks Bode, I was hoping for that. Me being just that, a simple stoner.

Huh, interesting, I would have figured everywhere there was chicken/poultry farms there'd be a market for it. Now I have to wonder what they're doing with the feathers if not plant food?
