SALT TEST HYGROMETER CALIBRATION
HI ALL I was floundering getting the drying job done the other day when @InTheShed suggested I calibrate my hygrometers. He was right. Now I can say without a doubt in my mind what the rh is where ever I put any of these babies.
So, the test calls for table salt in containers dampened with pure water. I used distilled. A few drops stirred in just so I can see grains of salt still. Not too much water. Put that in a sealed container for 24 hours and the rh will max out at 75% exactly. That's all we need to know. I did that and now I have a small army of meters with codes on them. Like +3. That means I found it at 72%rh after 24 hours sealed up in the container of 75%rh. I'll know to add 3 to whatever I see. Easy peasy and now I'm confident of my rh and can dry and cure to perfection as long as I pay attention to the numbers. Here's the simple rig I made and will turn back to kitchen tools when I'm done.
