Dark Matter, Red Sky, Chunky Cherry Thai, BP Skunk In LOS

I don't think dog whistles work as well in the northeast as they do in some other parts of the country. :cheesygrinsmiley:
I think they do, but it's seasonal. They seem to work better in the spring and summer. Not so good when its gets cold and you have to bundle up. :cheesygrinsmiley:

FINALLY AN OUTDOOR UPDATE
:woohoo: An outdoor plant!!

Have you considered topping that lady? I usually top my outdoor plants two or three times.

I would top her now before she goes into flower - which could happen in the next 2 or 3 weeks. It'll give the new shoots time to develop. The one in this picture was topped a couple times and gave me many more top colas than if I had not topped.

Yikes! It's time already here in Mass? We get 14 hours of daylight on July 31, I had them on close to that when I put them out and they weren't flowering. They were on the brink though. Do you think that would be when they start, or are you familiar with my location? I don't know but it seems a little early. Yours are beautiful!

I think the trigger is lessening sunlight during the day which starts on the day after the summer solstice, the longest day of the year, so Sundayish. Though it certainly takes a while to get going and for the plants to recognize the difference.

Inside we go right to 12/12, but that is very gradual outdoors, obviously.

HAPPY FRIDAY HARVEST UPDATE

Hi all :ciao: Black Poison Skunk came to ripening yesterday! WOOHOO! She went 75 days

Yeah, I gotta get that this week then. I was hoping for a bigger plant I guess, oh well. There's a bunch of good branches on her so she'll produce. One more node and it's time then! Now I'm excited!

HAPPY FRIDAY AND HARVEST UPDATE

Hi all, :ciao: Black Poison Skunk got all ripe for us yesterday so out came the axe! She grew for 60 days veg and 75 days flower and gave us 8.5 projected oz's. Another one that had no want for ties holding up her branches! She was a real pusher and would have benefitted if I could have cleaned her inside up a few weeks into flower. What a bunch of popcorn went into the bin.
Here she stands.

And how she went.

Get 'er done!

Why not start a Jadam water ferment with the popcorn? You can then feed it to the next round to help with flower. And, if you grow that particular plant again, the nutrients will line up perfectly!

You're a person with one's head on straight! Nice idea and I'll work with it in the future, but I'm a bit overwhelmed slow with things here for a time. That's Jadam though!

Congrats on the final takedown Otter! Those are some solid-looking buds and more lovely foxtails. 8.5 oz in 135 days is an excellent potential haul.
:welldone:

From the pale leaves across the plant do you figure the soil ran out of oomph by the end?

What Azimuth said:

Absolutely. Plants can go into flower if you go from 20/4 to 16/8 indoors.

I find that when I flower outside (14.25 hours sunlight today), I start to see pistils on most plants by mid-July, so nearly a month after the solstice. So topping now would be a good time to allow the plant to get bushy before stretch is over.

You can just through them in a jar with some water for now and deal with the leaf mold later when you get a chance. If you use rain water there will be some microbes in it to at least get it started. Then just set it aside for when you get around to it. Weeks, months, years?

I'm going to start doing that with all of my trimmings.

Highya SO,

You have raised a question I've been working on for years.

Yikes! It's time already here in Mass?
For one, I think different strains have different biological clocks. Some will start flower sooner, some later. Second, I've tried to determine when the changeover is by counting backwards from harvest. I usually harvest mid-October. If the breeder says 60 days flower, that would put the changeover mid-july.

Your Black Poison Skunk sure was a looker! I'm not surprised she's estimated at 8.5 z's! If she smokes as nice as she looks, you're in for a real treat!! Nice work! Happy Vapin'

Congrats on your harvest, Stone! :thumb:

I'm at 37.3N latitude so it probably will be a bit different for your location. I actually discovered some pre-flowering stigmas today on one of my plants. Actual flowering usually arrives about 3 weeks later. During last year's grow the three plants showed first signs of pre-flower on 6/16, 6/24, and 7/2. Flowering started 7/11, 7/16, and 7/21 respectively.
Yeah, I gotta get that this week then. I was hoping for a bigger plant I guess, oh well.
You'll still have time to get a nice size plant. Once actual flowering starts, my plants typically grow an additional 25-35% in height. If your plant is at 48" when flowering starts, then it could go to 60" by the end of stretch. YMMV

it seems that it's the lessening of the hours of daylight rather than the actual number of them.
I agree. By the time daylight is at 12 hrs here (Sept 22nd), I'm pretty close to harvesting.

BeezLuiz, Man, I just love seeing amazing plants grown outdoors…just amazing.
