Dark Devil Auto: A Community Grow Record

Ok... so I'm quite possibly wrong but I see 3, I repeat THREE phenos of DDA.

1. The deep dark purple that takes over.
Indica. Wide, blue/green hue fan leaves. Short, bushy plant.

2. The PURE GREEN pheno, which is rare.
I mean green, no signs of purple. Narrow, VIVID green, long fingers on fan leaves.

3. The MIX of slight purple only in the last week or two before optimum harvest.
This one is the true 50/50 In/Sa. Showing growth patterns of sativa stalk, stem, and stretch, with indica type bud formations, coloration, and temperature temperament.

Again just things I've put together from the beginning of this thread.

Please chime in DDA lovers and all 420mag family!!! 1 love

So after close inspection of Darla today I ruled out any previous thoughts of lockouts. Starting to just look like her fall colors.
20181213_100427.jpg

Her last feed was a whooping 1300ppm. Starting her flush the ppms only came out to 267. Hungry lil shit. Lol.
Regardless she got her full flush and a finishing feed of 630ppm.
Shes really starting to smell now. Another week and I would need a carbon filter but I'm in a legal area...yay!!!

So I'll be lucky if I get an oz from Darla. She hasn't been throwing any new pistils at all. 45% amber hairs. The popcorn buds easily have another 3 weeks though. Even those suckers are looking pale from the frost covering them.

Until next time!!!

Wow! So many beautiful Dark Devils :yummy:

I posted ages ago some DDA sprouts that I never reported back on. That’s partly because I had a fungus gnat issue and one of them got nibbled on the way out, and dampened off :rip:.

The other survived but stalled completely.

I put it in a tiny pot just so as not to kill it, it started flowering at the 3rd node or something so has become what InTheShed calls a Spog® (Single point of green). In this case tho it’s not got a lot of green, it’s a deep purple up the centre. I’ll probably get 3-5g off it - enough for a nice first taste :ganjamon:

No pics of the whole Spog® today, I didnt take any and now its dark. I did want to share these, though, which I snapped today. Such incredible syrup in those trichs. Oh and it smells divinely syrupy as well
:drool::yummy::drool:

This came from @dynamo1 :thanks: - you certainly got the syrupy purple one going on! I cant wait to drop some more sometime soon - maybe i’ll do it indoor.

(vvv same frosty leaf as the first pic. I couldn’t decide which I liked better :) and they’re pretty nice to look at... :D)

:Namaste:

Oh Amy....... I'm a little stunned by the beauty. Gave me chills girl! :hugs::hugs::hugs: At least one of those belongs at the front door, don't you all agree?

I'm thinkin' next year I'll revisit my threads, one-by-one, and rework the opening posts to reflect some of what's occurred since we started down those paths. When I do so one of these will surely be included.

As a grower of DDA I can assure you the taste will be worth the wait. I'm sure the rest of the happy crew will agree. You'll be wanting to drop a couple more seeds. Lol!

@Amy Gardner, gnats can take so much of the fun out of a grow. I felt like the extra hug was called for.

:hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

Primo pics!

@SweetSue what do you find effective with gnats? I am currently battling them!

I used mosquito dunk packets I found on the rain forest site. They were easy to broadcast across the soil surface as well as soak in the drench water. I kept using them for a solid month. Cleared the gnats right up.

Lovely buds Bob! :high-five: Bet that plant smells divine. :battingeyelashes:

:ciao:@SweetSue how have you been?

Thank you and you know it. My girlfriend loves the aromas.

I’ve been good Bob. You? :hugs: Tell your girlfriend she’ll love the taste just as much. DDA remains the tastiest chemovar I’ve grown to date. My hope is that she really likes the buzz. :slide:

Oops! Almost forgot why I’m here. Lol!

Ladies and gentlemen, may I present DDA 10. :battingeyelashes:

She started making her move this morning.

After about two hours and a few carefully placed water drops she tossed her casing aside and raised her leaves to the light. :yahoo:

Took this seed three days in a solo cup hempy filled with perlite soaked in 1/4 strength nutrients. Pretty standard practice in these parts.

She’ll rest overnight before I transplant her in the morning. She’s an Auto, and time’s of the essence.

My plan is to leave this specimen in the back of BrixNewb’s veg tent start to finish. I want to see if I can get a passable crop under 4000K. The lights run 18/6. If it works there’s always a space in a corner that could fit a small pot, at the very least.

For comparison I dropped a second seed. I’ll sit it next to its sister until I feel it’s ready for the 3000k quantum board and then slip the pot into a corner of my flowering tent.

Once the second seed comes up the experiment begins.

Yesterday was harvest day for DDA, it was washed and hung out to dry for a few hours and then low and slow. I may do a cob today, undecided:hmmmm:

:Namaste:

I strongly encourage a DDA cob dynamo. It actually tastes better than the bud! And the smoke is so incredibly smooth.........

Congrats on the harvest. :high-five:

Thanks for the photo love :Love:

at least one of those belongs at the front door
I’ll keep that in mind :battingeyelashes:

@lazyfish
I can attest to the success of the mosquito dunks.. I have used Bti powder, which is what is in them, and it worked well here. Can’t get mosquito dunks here :rolleyes:, but someone is currently sending me some!

ALso, because I moved outside where they just are (forest, wetlands etc) and seem to love the peat moss in my soil mix I’m also using gnat nix (made by growstone) on top of teh pots and it seems to be working. I also had to put stockings (thanks dynamo for idea :high-five:) around the lower half of my 1 gal pots as they’re were getting in and out of those (with holes up the sides), and that seems to have worked for the most part.

They also hate neem. Drenching with neem, or a neem based product will work too :thumb:
