Yeah man, I'm pretty stoked. It would be a shame to get new armor together and not be able to use it. After I broke those ribs I realized I might wear to little body armor. Well at least for mace fighting I do and my grow is way behind because of those 3 males last round. So I need to put some loot together fast. I've never had a problem finding work. It's easy for me to find people are always going to eat. I'll have new gear before my ribs heal 100% ;) My grow supports my hobbies and when I needed it the most I failed. So I'll get back on the big horse and ride it out for a while in a kitchen. While my current plants bang some flowers out. Harvesting 2 out of 6 hurt. (that first urkle blew too).

While I wrote those instructions for my Nephew I realized where I had been going wrong and corrected it. My yield's were very dependent on my cloning tray and trimming those roots. I started taking clones in dirt and was unable to trim them up and veg them like I was. Small spaces require some different methods, this is one Doc put me up on a couple years ago and it works out fantastic for my area. I am back to doing that. That is how I pulled 22oz from a 600w light. We also got almost 1lb off a Chem Valley Kush in hydro because I trimmed those roots a few times. 30 days in the tray is amazing. Try it. I'd bet the farm you'll have to supercrop them.

Excellent news, Curso.

I get all pent-up and grumpy when I'm not creating or making sumpin, and I don't have fighting for an outlet! There's just something irreplaceable about taking a bunch of ordinary stuff and making something much more valuable from it. It's like mini-magic. Presto chango - voila!

And the attaboys don' hurt either. A man needs his attaboys on a regular basis. :cheesygrinsmiley:

:Namaste:

Thanks bro!!!

Yeah fighting is an amazing outlet for any sort of pent-up aggression. I'm rather grumpy because I can't fight atm. I might try tomorrow...I was trying to talk my buddy into fighting tonight he wont fight me either (he broke my ribs)...lol!!! and my wife caught wind of what I was trying to do and hid my helmet...

Your right the attaboys do help. A great chef told me once...for every 1 fuck up erases 10 attaboys...I have some attaboys saved up...

Root trimming! I would have never thought. I abandoned plugs when I realized I could dirt clone.

Few ?s. What are we feeding our plugs after the first couple of weeks? Just de-stress?
Why do you think trimming the roots makes such a difference? My guess would be that with all those roots filling the plug, once it hits dirt it'll throw roots in all directions?
How big are your clones getting in the plugs?

I've been dirt cloning in small 3x3 pots, and keeping them as mom plants. I let them get real dry all the time and plain water 4 times out of 5. Sometimes I put couple drops of energy. These little plants are so shiny and brixed out. Really making me use less product. I'm using .5oz/6plants drench these days.

I'm gonna try the rapid rooters again I guess..

Thanks bro for the knowledge bomb.

If you buy actual brand name rapid rooters by gh you dont need to feed them. They have a nute charge. I do spray them with destress (I am currently out of it but alas more is on the way). I to have been letting them rip in dirt and this method does make some really, really nice plants. However, they are a far cry from the yield from what I get when I trim them.

You're welcome bro. Our spaces are similar this method might help your yield. It also saves loads of room in veg.

I follow Doc's cloning method with the rooters 16oz (1pt) of water and cover for a week. I leave them uncovered after 10 days and just keep them moist and trim until I need them.

I'll take pics next time I trim them, they dont get very tall at all if you continue to trim the roots.

Yep your on the money with the rooter filled with roots and shooting them everywhere. Then if you veg under 50% of your flowering light...once they hit the big light...LOOK OUT...;)

Tavo!!!! Here's the first trim of the roots :)

Hey bro are you saying don't grow in plastic 7gal pots?

Very easily...Plastic pots give you thick roots. Thick roots don't have as good surface area as many thin ones. The math is fairly simple. The smartpots also allow for loads of soil to recycle. Use what you wish...as I stated that is what has worked for me. I have had much better success with smartpots. What works for you, works for you. Those are instructions for MY grow.

Sounds good bro, i have smart pots but never tried them. I will give it a go.

Im about to run another test with these clones I have in the tray. I'll actually share this one. It doesn't involve any products.

Here's what I am thinking. I have been using smarties for veg too, I like them because I can leave them in the bags for months and to water them I throw them in a tub of water. However, I'm going to try this...Instead of vegging for 2 months in the bags. I'm going to do one month in the tray trimming the roots, then one month in a 2 gl plastic, then into a 7gl smartie. I think this will give a much, much bigger plant in flower than what I am currently doing. But flowering in smartie's to me is the only way to fly.

Thanks for sharing the pics I'm definitely going to try this!

After all this veg talk I was thinking about up canning plants and how pot size affects growth, yield, vigor..now I have 3x3s, 1/2gal, 1gal, and 2gal to use during veg. I'm trying all kinds of combos. First run was 1gal airpot to 7gal airpot. Next was one gal plastic to 7 gal airpot. Then I went 1gal-2gal-7gal. This run I'm using 3x3 baby pots, and will use my new 1/2gals I just got. I've noticed some interesting trends but nothing conclusive enough to share and give people the wrong idea lol. I'll definitely try the root trim.

Thanks!

I think that is exactly what I will be doing from here on out. I did something similar but went from the plug to a 3 1/2 inch square to the 2 gallon plastic then to the 7 gal smarts. But it felt they lost steam after blowing the 3 1/2 apart then transplanting again and I often thought how much bigger the rootball would be going straight into the 2 gal plastics and leaving them uninteruppted. However you do get that additional root zone/transplant soak when upcanning to the 2 gal. But tbo with the trimming method they are ready to explode and they rip through the 3 1/2 in no time anyway. I did this with my last set of Wild Thai's and the difference in size was amazing. Going to see how this idea works out for you. My guess is that it will deliver.

Peace,

Any2
