Will it "hurt them to say f*** you order somewhere else"?
Seems like I remember reading reports that Marc Emery inferred to a customer that it wasn't smart to complain too much when that customer was in a place where cannabis, growing cannabis, and possessing cannabis seeds was illegal.
Just being told to take a hike seems somewhat more mild, lol. Maybe not the world's smartest business decision, but mild. I would consider such a situation to be, err, a voluntary cessation of the business relationship on both sides (because I'd never give my custom to someone who didn't appreciate it). It happens. Sometimes for a good reason, sometimes for NO good reason. Having been in the hot seat (no, not a cannabis seed business), I know that you try to minimize such things. But sooner or later it happens if you're in business long enough.
These kinds forums are good - in this regard - because it seems like everyone who has any kind of issue posts about it. But, in a way, they're not so good. I've seen occasions where things that happened 10+ years ago still get mentioned - and repeated by others as if they were there - as if they happened last week. That can lead to people making assumptions that whatever things were like in the past - either good or bad - is what they are like RIGHT NOW. That's why threads like this always sadden me a little. They're pretty much part of history, will be here for the duration.
It's really kind of a messed-up industry, lol. An established breeder can have bad luck - or even a colossal f*ck up, for that matter - then come out of it having learned, hopefully improved... and still suffer for years because of what gets posted on forums. Meanwhile, a new breeder can throw up a nice website, pass out a bunch of freebies, and float around on goodwill, at least until the harvests come in. It's almost like there's a double-standard, somehow. And Breeder C takes a strain from Breeder A & a strain from Breeder B, crosses them, and gets credit for doing something wonderful. Meanwhile, not much is said about all the work that Breeders A & B did creating their strains in the first place. <SIGH>
