Crimson Grows

Ok another detail i just noticed. Well actually remembered. There is a general consensus about watts per square feet and i always though a hobby growers specs would never need to match the ones who grow commercially. Now this grow is currently proving my hypothesis -I usually never utilize the 4x4 but i vaped all my Dinachem and Northern Lights and Blue Kush so that gave an opportunity to go for it- hahha.

I have 450 watts reaching to the diodes in my 4x4 grow tent. Which makes 28w per square foot. And in an environment without any additional co2 the results speak for themselves. Happy plants, sexy colas and just leaning branches. So i don’t see a reason to go with 50w per square foot (as mostly some hid guys suggest when talking about leds) unless you are supplementing co2. Lots of diodes, even distribution thus better penetration while experiencing all the cost saving benefits of leds. 4x4 is 1000w hid. 55% less energy usage and still heavy clusters. I love leds. I think everyone should switch. Hahah.

Oh it seems even that gentle tea was too much. Well live an learn. I’m gonna leave them be until harvest. Indigo Lily is pretty close by the way. Almost no white pistils left. I’m gonna harvest it in a week or two, probably. Gotta check the trichs. (I did before posting)

I’m gonna let them fade on their own. Which is something i like generally. The resulting smoke is much more smoother imo and i still get very satisfactory yields. So from now on, go blumats go.

And here are some random pics.

Starry nights. Dinachem. Very beautiful, super potent weirdo with scythe shaped leaves. I can call it Crimson Reaper. My cut. Haha.

Trichomes of the Indigo Lily (purple ones too). Still a bit early but not very long now.

Twin NLs. Result of late topping. Pistils are browned because of all the physical contact i made during staking.

And a nug from the Indigo Lily. Smells like blueberries and peaches and a scent of some acidity. Some sweet acidity. Incredible smell.

Ok, the Indigo Lily got harvested. It looks cool. Maybe a little early but still looks cool.

Tent is going fine also. Everyone seems happy. Little bit of fading has started and i’m just gonna let them. I may water them weekly with a little molasses. I’m not sure yet.

Looking great in there crimson.

I’d love to see more pictures of your harvested lad! :thumb:

It’s drying in a 2x2 tent and looks kinda hectic now but i’ll get some better pics while i transfer the trimmed buds to brown bags.

I just smoked my tester bud and the Indigo Lily smells and smokes just as i expected it to. Blueberry as you would agree smells very berry-like with hints of other fruits. Overall fruity. Purple Afghan Kush also smells very fruity but the dominant tones are grape/pineapple.

So the resulting cross smells more like sweet berries with very faint hints of coffee and banana. On the exhale i feel a little grape and hints of caramel. I’m not connoisseur or anything but these are just what i’m getting with my inferior palate. Hahha.

Well anyway it should spend a good month in jars to show its true qualities but a very fruity and sweet cross, finished in 36 days. Very fast. That trait could come in handy in my future chucking projects.

We’re getting there. I just did a little feeding ‘cause i’m pretty sure that they need a bit of a boost as there are just too many buds on each. Just a tiny bit of humic/fulvic, seaweed extract, molasses and fish hydrolysate. I want them to fade completely but not right now.

Even this nug was solid. NL is just performing very well. It usually does.

The remaining Indigo Lily branches (waiting for the seeds). They are very horizontal now.

That Indigo Lily is so beautiful! I had to go look it up at Seedsman but couldn't find it so I looked back in your journal to discover that you bred that awesome plant. Wonderful work!

I appreciate it man. Thanks. If i was residing in US you would receive a pack for sure but alas international shipping, customs and all that bullshit is beyond me for now.

I’m not sure if 420 condones seed sharing but again no seeds are being shared, sadly.

Thanks for the thought! Hope my message didn't come across as a not-so-subtle hint for some seeds, it was meant as a sincere compliment. I've only been growing since January but that Indigo Lily really inspires me to learn how to breed.

Nah man it’s cool. I like to share my seeds actually it’s no problem for me but i just don’t want to risk international shipping right now. May do it in the future. Take it as an apology for not offering to share with you something you liked. Also i’m aware of the fact that it was a sincere compliment and again thanks. I really appreciate it.

As for breeding, once you get a good mother tent going -bonsai or full sized- preparing cs or sts is a breeze and you just pick a couple of plants which you think can result in a wacky cross or that can compliment or better each other in several aspects and hope for the best. F1, S1 is easy, then if you want to stabilize, backcrossing comes into play amongst other techniques but overall not terribly hard to create an F1 and Indigo Lily is an F1.

Well anyway, i hope you do start breeding but keep in mind that what we are doing could better be described as chucking imo, out of respect to a real breeder who works with the absolute best cuts and who works on a cultivar for several years and generations and with a much bigger population to select and create something really special with precision. My process is not that precise.

We are getting closer and closer.

As you can kinda see in the family photo, the Blue Kush is not doing so well. I mean the buds are looking fine but generally seems unhappy. My theory is that the leaves are dying from deficiency. Happens to the oldest leaves closer to the lights. Lower growth seems ok and i’m gonna clean those brown ones to let the lowers finish the plant.

I also took some samplers from each. From the fluff zone. Dinachem seems solid. It may not be as big as my prior grows, which is understandable as i think it’s infected by TMW or something and it hasn’t started in pristine conditions. Still i think with these solid nugs, it has a chance to catch up on the scale.

And NL was like a little spongey but it has so many nugs that it’s understandable. It has 2 more weeks to go to properly fatten up.

But the lower bud sample of the Blue Kush was the fluffiest amongst the 3. So that again makes me think, deficiency.

This grow i tried that 1/3 super soil and fill the rest with mild mix stuff and no. It’s not for me at all. I’m going to do straight super soil next time and next time Dinachem S1s.

CongratZ on the harvest and beautiful work brother! I’m sure it’s some top shelf smoke because it sure does look that way!

Thanks bro. I’m sure once i clean that brown off, it’s gonna be some awesome smoke also. It smells good and i don’t think that browning will affect the taste much.

Here they are today. These photos were actually 2 days old. Not much changed but i sometimes come back and read my journals so it’s a good move to keep it tidy.

Dinachem. Based on my prior experience has at least 20 days. But it’s very strange because i’ve never seen any colors on it before this grow. Was always green and yellow. Never this burgundy color. So that’s strange but i like it.

Only little yellow at the tops. Mostly from when i was on vacation.

I harvested the rest of the Indigo Lily. To be honest i think this is close to perfect for harvesting. So first batch was harvested a little prematurely but still it’s at most a 50 day strain. Pretty fast, looks and smells amazing. Very dense nugs too.
