Creating Female Seeds Using Colloidal Silver - With High Brix

The changes in un-sprayed branches could be the hormonal change migrating higher into the plant. Not unusual. I would feel comfortable using ANY of the created pollen in its originally intended role without hesitation.

My experience with auto-flowering plants amounts to a big zero though.

My experience with auto's is somewhat limited, but personally I get the feeling auto's are more apt to do this than photo's. I saw a lot more of it going on during my last run. You do see it from photo's sometimes, but the difference seemed to be there was more of it and it went on a lot longer. Right up to harvest.

The photo tent got a little crazy this time too. I cut the treated branch off after and put her back in the tent. A few weeks go by and I find the base of the branch had produced already blown out male flowers. Of course a few days before this I'm thinking I'm going nuts because my Sweet God plant is seeding rather heavily lol.

Me too. Other than the stripes WW seeds are very small. You can't tell because I cropped the pic so small and it got bloated up here. The Bubs x AK are nice and plump.

Has anyone ever grew the albino seeds? Wonder if they are even worth giving a go.

Do it lol.
Check out Gert. With the skirt and a hairy leg. :dreamy: Barney's Farm Critical Kush Freebie. :)

Harvested fem seeds from my first round of girls. It was a success except for 818 and Bubblelicious. Just a bunch of sacs and no pollen from those 2.

Here are the harvested seeds :slide:

Nice! Just out of curiosity because I'm still very new to breeding. How come you got so few seeds from your crosses? Looks like you have a lot of the AK47's but the crosses seem to have produced a lot less. Do you pollinate less of those?

To be honest, I treated them as potential duds and culled them. Any unusually odd shapes, cracks (I gently ground them in my hands/fingers, but I found a few crushed) off-color or still pale, they got culled.

I was the same way 'til I met Gert :laughtwo:

Any odd shapes still go but from now on I think I'll try the white ones with good shape. Won't spend a lot of resources on them but after seeing Gert turn dark and colored in water only to reappear with a white clam stuck on her head.. I figure it's worth a shot lol

AK was my only plant that the pollen sacs opened on their own and pollen spilled out everywhere so I had a ton of pollen and went crazy with the q tip application on her. The other plants the pollen sacs never opened even after 4-5 weeks so I took the sacs and chopped them up. Not much pollen from them. Apparently nothing from 818 and Bubs. I only crossed a couple bud sites of Bubs and WW with AK pollen so wasn't expecting much from them and that's why not too many seeds. Plus the clones I worked with were very small to begin with. Here's what they looked like. Text is Ak47:) Got a good amount of seeds for how small she was.

I'm trying things a little different this time to see if I can get better results with pollen. I've let my current Bubble Gum clones get well rooted before starting them. Prior it was 10 days after cutting and I started flower. I also lowered my CS solution to 100 ms and will stop spraying as soon as I see signs of male. I also gave the CS girls a week head start in flower (as suggested in this forum) so I can be more patient with them. Trial and error for me as I have no science background on this stuff. Fun hobby!

Thanks! That is a lot of seeds off of that AK for as small as it was. I will be happy if I can get that amount off of my GSC and she will be a lot bigger then that when she finishes up. I might have to steal your idea and take a few clones off of my Blue Dream (Photo) just to pollinate them. Good idea! Do you have more pollen left over/stored from the AK47?

It works well. I've done it a couple times now and AK is the only one that opened on her own so that's why I'm changing things up a little bit. I was worried how the plants would turn out but my first grow of my own seed was very nice and good quality. This is a Sensi Seeds NL5xH crossed with Dutch Passions Blueberry that I called Light Blue Haze.

Sorry, I'm so proud and had to show her off. I only have a few seeds of her left and will make some more next go around :)

I've never stored pollen. I'm in the hunt for a nice little fridge for the basement so I can mess around with that. I'll be sleeping in the basement if Mrs. Smiles see's anything cannabis related in the kitchen fridge. :laughtwo:

Isolation is always safer. :thumb:

The differences in appearance could be as simple as being strain-related, or a difference in time (as you've asked) or even the difference in expression between autos and photos. I couldn't really say, but yours looks fine.

I made her a little makeshift tent and threw together a few CFL's as a grow light.

You were right on with the hormonal changes migrating up. I had a chance to examine her really good as I was moving her and I noticed branches close to the height of the ones sprayed have started to produce pollen sacs but any of the beaches higher up on the plant including the main kola are normal looking buds.

I even used a divider so that I could spray the two branches without overspray hitting any of the other branches so your hormonal migration is a really good hypothesis.

I have read a little bit on pollen collection and storage but I would really like some opinions from people here. Best collection practices/methods? Best storage practices methods?

I can't say definitively yet if my method works. I have some stored in the fridge and will test its viability in my next round. My methods and tools are fairly well-documented here already, but went mostly like this... isolation > gently shake plant over card stock > place in open container to dry (dessicant optional) > move to final (sealed) container > use tufted q-tip to apply.

I covered the container with a wash cloth and laid a few silica-gel packs on top of it to draw out the moisture. After a few days I closed it and put it in the mini-fridge. It'll be a few months old by the time I try it out.
