Watching out for the bad bugs!

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

Thank you so much for the warm welcome and for stopping in and checking out my humble little grow! I think Gabriel is hungry, you can feed her even a chunk of burger meat from tweezers. If you very slowly put the meat next to his(for some reason I think he is a she) mouth he will automatically start eating. You could always grab a bug too. It is amazing how fast these guys eat. They get very fat before laying eggs. It looks like gabe will molt at least one more time since he does not have wings yet. There was a jumping spider on one of my sunflowers that caught and was eating a large wasp, I gained a lot of respect for jumping spiders after seeing that. I am putting up a pic too if you want to see.

your plants are looking lovely, I like how all the leaves and petioles are facing up. It is clear that these girls are feeling very loved. Keep it up!

Here are my weekly width height measurements update...

Height:

Take these measurements with a grain of salt, not the most scientific form of measurement.

Anyhow H#1 got alot wider because of pull down of branches. Pretty much general trend of getting taller but not that much wider.

Hey RainStacks, so when they get wings will he/she find a new home?

I am just guessing, but I would tend to think that as long as there is plenty of food they will hang out. But maybe they would leave to find a mate. But maybe the males come find them, I know this is the case with spiders, but I'm not sure about insects. Sometimes when mantids eat the female will eat the male while they are still mating! The mating keeps going even when the male is headless, torsoless, it is just so strange. Talk about sacrificing for your kids!

Checked the ladies this am like normal, looking good. But something strange, just one plant had water drops all over its leaf tips....

Not worried but just curious, has anyone seen this? Or know why? Seemed like normal water. If they all had it would just call it a morning dew, but it seemed weird that only this one plant had it, but no other plants right next to it had the drops, strange.:hmmmm:

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

I have the same thing happen, it occurs in localized sections of the plants, sometimes on top of underbuds. My guess is that the specific plant decided to sweat, and then re-condense the vapors and have it settle as a liquid droplet during the cooler nights as dew point approaches. Why this occurs with one plant, and not all of them - my explanation for that is that each plant is different , they are not all the same, they have moods and different characteristics for how they express themselves, the one who sweat may even have had excess water content stored in the leaves.

Like saying, that one specific plant had to go pee during the night, and the others didn't. Anyway, I'd say definitely associated with morning dew. Just need to watch out for those things during flower, otherwise it could possibly turn into a slightly moldy situation!

Just my two cents :hookah:

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

Thanks Lester, interesting idea.

Plant is happy as can be though. All perked up and starting to form buds. So real happy about that.

Like I said, just my two cents. Don't sweat it :)

Cheers and Happy Blooming :cheer::cheer:

I had the same thing going on a few weeks ago in my indoor grow........only it was sweating thick and gooey sap from the edges of the leaves.
Believe it or not, the girl then started "bleeding" blood red sap from her stems........craziest damn thing I ever seen:scratchinghead:
And after 2 or 3 weeks it just disappeared.......go figure?
Anyways.......Im subbed......nice looking plants Bro

Re: Crawdaddy's First Grow in 10+ Years Greenhouse/Soil -2013

Welcome DirtyDanny. Now that is strange. Did your plant come out good in end?

Its still a work in progress........another 2-3 weeks I think.
Im just now finally getting the buds to fatten up...........The smell is intoxicating:thumb:
I guess things could have went better........but this was my 1st grow with LED's and my 1st grow indoors in almost 15 years......
So Im kinda "rusty" on the green thumb skillz........
