Cottage 420's Organic Perpetual Indoor Garden

Hahahaha that explains it... In Scotland they use the Peat to cook the malt when they are making (Scotch) Whiskey.... that's where some of the smokey flavor comes from. I think there's a law or something that keeps Peat off the shelves in stores. Should be readily available tho... its every where there. They used to bury people in the peat bogs 10s of thousands of years ago!

I think half your country is covered in Peat Bogs... not joking! I think they try and make the people of Scotland think its going to run out so only the whiskey makers get to use it... that's a lot of bull shit tho... not going to run out, no way no how.

Also they use it up north I think to cook with ... the traditional way, no??

I would think the ashes from the burning of the peat moss would be a good amendment!
Speaking of wood ashes Bob, I know they are a great source of Potassium. I would like to start using some in my soil, what sort of ratio would you suggest starting with? And I know that it can increase the pH, is that anything I need to worry about in my soil? Anything I need to add to counter that? Thanks in advance brother Bob!

Morning Van, I was passing through - bob will set you right on that I’m sure. I’m keen to see his response actually, I used wood ash and didn’t notice any ph issues in the soil (I did measure periodically, out of curiosity, and it was always within range).

You could include some biochar with that wood ash too :thumb:

I have a good amount of bio char already mixed in my soil. I just suspect I am a little short on potassium in my soil so I figured the Wood ashes would be a nice addition and I have a fair amount after our winter. I love to use stuff I have laying around.

:thumb: I thought I remembered that you did! Me too - I use a little from the fire place clean outs. It goes in our compost periodically too.

Buffalato #2 - I harvested this one today... saved a few buds to test and didn't wait to let it dry and vaped one partial test bud. I thought I was vaping straight up alcohol vapors. I got skerrrt a little.
Though something wrong with Vaporizer. So no report other than... can't type and cant see!
B back tomorrow to finish post. o_O

I'm showing off now..
It's nice to show off a bit. Buffalato #2 looking stellar. Great job as usual.

Wood ash is also a great source if Calcium and Magnesium... what's lost in the burning process is Nitrogen and Sulfur (fire turns them into gasses). Everything else plants need are there.

That said yes they are alkaline. So in containers, meh... We add it to our outdoor gardens in the spring ... around now or after the snow it gone and also into the compost. Try not to pile it up, spread it out evenly. Different woods have different amounts of nutrients ...The harder the wood the better (wife suggested that). :reading420magazine:

I actually burn bamboo and use that ash in soil... not in containers tho.... raised beds outside.. got that tip from Conradino.

Biochar is a good substitute for your soil in containers. We make our own biochar from hardwood charcoal grilling. Pile the left over ashes in a little heap beside our grilling area on top of the soil. The ash gets washed away with rain (and into the soil), whats left is the biochar. We let it compost a little for a season, scoop up the pile and into the garden.

Good stuff.

After it has sat for several months, we notice how black the soil gets around the little pile.

I'm high A/F again, test nugs of the Buffalato #2.. Got off to a heavy hit, but now my scalp is curling tingles and laughing.

Spilt my wine glass a little not a total fall over but close. I never do that (almost).

I just trimmed Buffalato #2 today - gotta say this was a REAL easy plant to trim. There wasn't much to throw away. Got a nice box of trim ... hash all the way! wow I think my compost bucket only had stems in it.. pretty sure. Maybe a fan or 2 but that's it. Was perfectly dry .. got real lucky with this one. Thinking head stash promotable.

Buffalato #2 - dried trimmed and in the can - 128.4gms or about 4.5 zips.. all are smallish dark purple green nugs covered in frost. Hard to see the color thru the trichomes. All the trim was a deep blue C.

Pics are coming. Its insane.. first thing I though was this would make some REAL nice hash.

Yah good test buds. VERY smooth... first puff my lips and tongue were numb followed by the rest of me! o_O

Now I know why I was having trouble focusing my eyes after trimming. There must be some "haze" in this one cause thats all I-C.

Hmmmm....this all sounds good except the part about eye focusing. This is why I'm driving less I think.

OK so popped 3 of the Buffalato. Buffalato #2 just finished and in the can.

Buffalato #1 Organic soil nothing but water under @TimberGrowLights COB Vero29s. This Buffalato has a few more days left, she's at around 60 days I have to check. I'll be doing some harvesting Sunday am likely 3 ladies coming down.

Buffalato #1 - nug

Buffalato #1 - another nug

Buffalato #1 - top cola above the lamps. I bent the top over but didn't break the stem just a little crack then hung the cola on a yoyo. Problem solved.

Soon this plant will do the cola dive... then I know it's time!

Labyrinth #4 - She's getting close today is day 63 in flower. She's a big lady.

Labyrinth #4 - close up

Labyrinth #4 - Cola picture. Lots of side branching on this one and when I trimmed her back I almost filled a homer bucket with all the trimmings. I cut away all the lower branches and thinned out in the middle. That's only a little more than 1/2 the plant. The main cola that's in the middle is to the right side in the picture.

Lab #4 - Flower

Chemdawg - Clone of Clones 62 days

Chemdawg - sugar on the fans

PMB # 2 - Polyploid - fatty cola - smells like grape soda.

More fatty cola

Fatty close up
