Hi BBIf you don't have a compost heap, your local nursery will! They will also likely have bagged compost as well.
2 brands I can get locally are (and recommended):
Coast of Main Lobster compost.
Malibu - BU's blend biodynamic compost (manure based... good stuff).
I can get both of these locally (east coast) - Malibu is from Cali.. so harder to find here where I'm at. My local nursery carries a lot of different bagged stuff including leaf mold (composted leaves).
I contacted Tad at KIS Organics about your question on Coco Choir, here's his reply:
"Bob,
You can do it though I much prefer peat (see our blog for why). That being said you would just need to add some more gypsum to the coco, maybe 1/2 c to 1 c per cubic ft is my guess.
Sincerely,
Tad Hussey

You have been following my journal, right? Stank Soil is basically what you described above but instead of me going through KIS, I sourced my amendments locally one by one. I intend to look at pricing of what they give (KIS), vs what I get when I source locally and have to mix together. I see many of the same amendments I sourced locally and use, are listed in that mineral package that Magic Jim posted.I looked on KIS organics so if I get the coots mineral kit then I need peat moss, perlite and ewc it should be water only with just malted barley teas for supplements. It can’t be that easy! Lol
I think you'd like it. A taste out of my next few harvests will be the proof though.I’ll give it go on my next run, it’s time to sample organic.

Hi BB
I had to use coco because I couldn’t source peat moss locally and I did have to add a little gypsum to only 1 of my plants (White Widow) during veg. I also gave it 1 Epsom Salts foliar feed too.
It made a great recovery and my 3 other plants (Blueberry, Medical Mass & Finola Hemp) are doing great without any sign of deficiencies without having to add anything to them.
I’ll look everything over, I have 5x 10 gallon geopots I’d like to run a good organic mix in them.
I’m in Scotland Bob, I had been looking around the garden centres etc to find it without much luck.Nice... gypsum is calcium without the change in PH plus added sulfur.
I'm glad it worked out for you!
Where are you that you cannot source Peat... it's very common in NA and EU to the point it's used as fuel in EU. Thankfully not in NA.

At the time of trying to start my grow I had very limited funds and a lot of health issues that made getting started a struggle but I’m getting close to my 1st harvest now, I’m on the last 4 weeks
