Cottage 420's Organic Perpetual Indoor Garden

They look fabulous man. Quite a stash you will have.

Thanks there CC - just chopped those 2 in the last pic there earlier today. My VEG room has started to really take off so its time to chop more of the grown ups and make more room.

That one plant there probably will only be 2 zips - she's in a smallish no-til container (6-7 runs) that I am going to retire after this round. I was nursing her to the finish line as you can see she's not looking quite "right". I normally would have just culled her but I wanted to see if I could figure out what the issues were causing the yellow right from the switch to 12/12 when she was perfect in VEG.

The only way to tell would be to have a soil test run which I may do. I pretty much thought it was N deficiency but I don't think that was the whole story. Adding in some kelp tea and kelp foiler did help 100% but as soon as I let off that regime, it was back to fading ... I'll have to test the bud and see if its even smokable! Probably vapable for sure.

We need to learn from the good and the not so good right? If I said every plant was a home run I'd be a liar asshole.

What I did from this result: build some more soil and add in some more N source (rabbit berries),add in some food grade diatomaceous earth - break all that soil mix down with Bokashi for a few weeks and into some larger 7gal pots FTW..

Next round we should see the ladies go down the stretch with less stress and more green.

The next round I've put into flower 4 plants and they are showing flowers overnight or the 2nd night period. WOW ... I'll do pics tomorrow. Already had to cull 1 male and I think I have another male ...

Pretty much if the female bits are not showing in VEG they are males and a night or 2 of dark shows me that to be true. I however like to leave a male hanging out with the ladies for a bit. I think they like him in there. Could be why the flowers show next day!!

I'm going to research the effects of male plants in a room full of females. I'm sure they know he's there. Positive actually. The ladies that I thought were finished, once I put a male in the room, the finished plants started popping out new pistols, and the buds started drooping over getting top heavy. That's a good thing.

Maybe something to it... I've had a male plant in the room (not the same one) for the last week. I've noticed buds getting bulkier and have been staking and propping up pretty much ever since. Of course the males are a sneaky lot.. one day no balls the next day they are hanging open ready to shoot the goodness... Its a gamble - I'm on my toes. I'm getting to the point where I can smell a male plant, they do smell different early on in flower. More grassy... if that's a word.

I've been reading a book "What a plant Knows" ... they know I'm there in the room, they know I'm not their friend, they know I water them every day... they know "I'm their father Luke". Just another reason for me to spend less time in the flower room.

Water and get out of the way. <-- That's my grow technique.

I spend more time with the plants when they are seedlings; a lot more time, as they get older the less time I'm with them. Kinda makes sense, as they grow older the less attention they want or need from me other than water and IPM.

It's funny really. When folks want to see my grow they gravitate to the flower room - but all I do in there is pick off dead leaves, try to kill pests, and throw water on the floor for their roots to suck up. When I show them the door, I wonder what it will look like inside.

In the veg room, I have chairs, tools, a table top full of low plants, older plants in different stages, supplies, worms, tea brewer, and a radio. I know what to expect because I've recently talked to, touched, inspected and pondered the future of the girls in veg.
There's a reason it seems more like a hangout place :circle-of-love:

Knock, knock. It's just me UncleC, no need to run for the air freshener. :)

I see that there's been a lot going on in Bo's world since my last visit. It's always refreshing to see folks like yourself getting it done organically.
:welldone::high-five:

It gives me hope that others will see what you've got going on here and will follow a similar approach to growing instead of feeding the pockets of the blended synthetic nutrient companies.

It's too bad that your Purple Pineberry began putting out nanners toward the end but it looks as though you still ended up with some quality buds. I'll be peeping over the fence while waiting on a PPB smoke report. :grinjoint:

Hey there UC glad to have you stop by and say hi... yup been a little busy.

Organics for the win ! :high-five: :passitleft:

The Pineberry is in the jars as they say. I've not even tried it yet .... errr maybe I did and cant remember! haha My short term memory.. or is it my long term memory? sheesh i cant remember.

I've been harvesting, drying and trimming. I just trimmed one of my Krystalica plants today and got 92g of top shelf quality buds from her. So not too shabby. I'd prefer a bigger haul but its about right for the size of pots they were in. My better half was saying how strong the smell was while I was sitting at the kitchen table trimming. She said it smelled really strong like pine with a fuel smell and very strong. Wow... I'm still buzzed and I didn't even smoke any. Breathing in all those fumes wow.. I was at it for 3 hrs. By the time I'm done I can't see straight anymore. This last plant had a ton of resin, felt like hash with lots of gritty grainy feel while holding the stalks. I'm going to go with Kelp/neem foiler with pro-tekt.

Moving on.. put a few ladies er... what I was hoping for ladies from VEG into flower. So far 2 males out of 4 one was culled the other went in after I culled the first one and she's a he now too! LOTD - luck of the draw. The 2nd one was removed, replaced with another. I think that one is male ... got my 4 eyes glued to the bits. Usually if I cant tell, its a male. I have 2 more still "in question". It's all good I was a little worried I wouldn't have room so things are taking care of themselves as usual.

My veg room has a bunch of plants that I started from seed which I had "thought" were feminized. Was my seed so I'm confused about that. I guess I have some more research to do with regard to seeds and sex of the seeds. I'd have thought all seeds from a hermi bud would be female. That's not true apparently. In fact it seems there are more males for some reason. :rolleyes3 :scratchinghead: :lot-o-toke:

New pics from the garden from a few days ago:

This one is next up for the chop - CBD Lavendar - she's a beast, huge plant with lots of flowers. Looking great smelling nice .. probably chop her Sunday.

Krystalica - she's been in flower maybe 4 days!! I think the male plants are making the girls put out flowers faster - they know he's in there with them...

Close up of Lavender... going to be a bitch to trim me thinks. Lower bud here

Another Krystalica coming down the stretch I'd say 3 more weeks ... this is the one that started clawing with the new lamp... nothing I can do about it. I'll try more kelp foiler tomorrow. Time for the IPM treatment.

pics_01_06_2016_007.JPG

This is Lavender lower bud shot - we can see she's pretty stacked up. I don't want to chop her she looks soo good but I think I'm getting close to stressing her ... this one will make me wait about 10 secs before I chop take one last look, close my eyes and do what is to be done. I'll do extra sets of Starfish pose beforehand ... let the ladies know I care! Karma baby... gotta feed the beast! In this case the beast is Lavender.

She's in a 7gal no-til. most of my pots are 5gal a few 7gal and a few 12 gal. I'm transitioning to larger as long as I can handle this space. I prefer to grow several medium size plants to a few huge ones. Not all eggs in one basket thinking here. If I loose a plant in flower for whatever reason it won't have a large impact.

Organics for the win! :high-five: :passitleft:

Dang, the CBD Lavender is beautiful BB! Your tents look fabulous, as always. I wanted to share something Cajun shared with us. The professional growers have this nifty trick of stressing the plants with essential oils starting three weeks into flower and continuing about every three days through harvest. Here's a nice write-up I pulled together.

It breaks down to:
- The essential oils are a mix of cinnamon, clove, rosemary, thyme and oregano.
- Dilute at a rate of 1/2 tsp. (.25 ml) of mixed oils to a gallon of water.
- Use as a drench or foliar.
- Begin at week three of bloom.
- Apply every three days through to harvest.

I didn't come here to share that, but I was looking at your plants and decided they could stand to benefit too, you know? Cajun posted last night that he'd never seen plants with this much resin on them. Since I'm going to be growing from now on with oil production in mind It's definately something I'm going to follow his lead with.

It was nice to stop by. Fighting off a cold. Wish me luck. Who needs a cold on vacation? Positive thoughts Susan, positive thoughts.

Headband in VEG... wow those leaves are huge.

pics_01_06_2016_012.JPG

That leaf shape is gorgeous. I love the way she covers about 3/4 of a circle surrounding the stalk. Headband is a girl I would admire a lot while contemplating in the garden.

Your Krystallica (and now Lavendar) room photos feel like they come from the times of oral history: ancient druidic tales told around the fire, a reminiscence of battles past, and the contemplation of Ragnarock, the wild hunt or the impending price to be paid the oracle .

Smoke report for Purple Pineberry:

I tried it and its WAY early (in jars a week maybe) ... I was racing in my chair complete body buzzing for a good 2 hrs and couldn't sleep when I went to bed... I like that but pretty classic for smoking good weed when it hasn't had a chance to cure.

WOW I did get VERY high. I vaped this and rolled up a fatty of Krystalica ... I forgot I had the fatty after vaping the Pineberry. I eventually got to the J but only needed a few puffs and I was totaled for rest of the evening. That's going to be a keeper, glad I have a clone or 2 going for next round! Seeds for this strain are sold out in many of hte usual places.

So kinda early but from the test smoke its VERY strong body shaking buzz with of course a pine flavor. I'm going to wait for the cure to smoke it so more to come.

Hey bob, I'm familiar with your kashi recipe but... How often/when are you using it? Just wondering if it is something I can incorporate.

Hey there CC - with the Kashi I use it when I mix up a new batch of soil. Put the new batch in a large tote with a lid - water the soil and sprinkle/cover the top of the soil with the kashi mix nice layer about 1/4" or so and put the lid on and let that go about 2 weeks. You will see the mycelium and other goodies grow out .... when it's finished and you can tell (no more white mycelium - it dies back).

The soil is ready. I mix it up and usually let it sit another week or so. Then into pots FTW! There will be a nice thick layer of goodness when mixing this in. When you flip from VEG to flower you can add another layer on top of the soil in the pot. I've been doing Malted barley teas so that is pretty much the same thing as using the kashi mix. I usually do one OR the other @ flip. I think I got better result with the kashi mix at flip TBH. I've been using the MBT lately as I'm using up a bag I bought last fall. HTH

Ok a quick update with a few pics. Most all of last round is harvested and jarred up. I have 2 more plants to finish, one I call "The Claw" - no matter what I do her fans are all clawed down and I cant do a thing to change it.

It must be the new lamp I started using half way into flower and she started clawing the next day and never stopped. I've got one of her twin sister clones right beside her but she's been under the new light from the beginning of flower and no issues all all. all same soil and same VEG routine.

I harvested CBD Lavender the beginning of the week - she was showing sings of stress from too long in flower so I had to pull the trigger. She was soo pretty and it looked like I could go longer with her but I really needed the room and she was showing early signs of nanners so she's hang drying, hopefully I'll be able to trim her tomorrow.

Tribute to CBD Lavender - she's about done drying already

Next round... this one started flowering in 1 day - I had a male in the room for a week and the ladies went crazy - this one I put into the flower room when the male was in there already and she flowered over night, just like that... amazing I've never seen that happen before and I will be experimenting with male bits more to see if I can encourage early faster flowering. It worked here, I did not do it on purpose. Blind squirrel gets a nut.

New cultivar for me - Mendala's California Dream

2nd day in flower - she did not benefit from the male in the room. I moved him out and replaced with this one.

Hi Bo,

What's your take on defol? Do you employ it in your grow strategy? :):):)

Hi doc - I defol - all the laf and under branches that don't get enough light to improve air circulation. Also I use some of the lower branches as clone cuts. I don't go super crazy like lolly-popping or what ever is the rage these days. I really just like to get the lower branches that come in contact with the soil out of there. Makes IPM easier and gets better air flow to reduce the chance of mold or soil insects getting on leaves.

That said - the cultivar I mainly run has a main cola and many side branches that start down pretty low (2nd, 3rd, 4th nodes) so yeah I dont get too crazy about it and usually dont do anything until the girls get close to flip - right before flip is when I take clones/cuts and trim up.
