Copperrein's Summer 2021 Outdoor Soil Grow

Bajingo in my word. Proper term in the US is cloaca. There's a whole mess of actually really cool stuff in there that gives hints to evolutionary chicken social lives. I could go on a monologue about penile nubs and the stages of egg development but yeah...chickens are cool and they ARE little fucking dinosaurs...especially the roos <3

Ha ha ! Flicks the straw and the poo! Off of them. Lol. I always thought that was crazy that chickens lay eggs out their butts! lol good idea to wash em.
Bad idea to wash them off before it is time to use them. The coating, called the bloom, that the laying process puts on them keeps the yolk and white from drying out. More importantly, it also acts as an anti-bacteria layer and keeps bacteria and germs from getting through the eggshell. All the solid particles can be brushed off but no washing until later. Cleaned off eggs, but not washed, will last several weeks at room temperatures without need to be put in the refrigerator.

But, yes, the eggs have to be completely washed and dried when it is time to do the cooking.

^ FDA and USDA regs in the US are always written for the lowest common denominator, as well as for the industries that lobbied/lobby the hardest. Mid-20th century saw this explosion of food processing and handling tech. Lots of slanted studies muddied the waters of food safety, self-sufficiency, and quality because all these companies were trying to win the canning/packing/convenience/etc markets.

If I say 'canned food' and 'botulism' most people past a certain age think of black olives and dented cans. That whole societal meme started when one batch of olives (out of many) stored in casks went bad and killed a couple people at a dinner party. As a result black olives started to be canned using modern methods with pressure and heat, however the proverbial damage had been done. Metal cans didn't cause the botulism but that one event is largely responsible for the present day idea that a can of dented food with kill you and everyone you love.

My grandma would throw out dented cans. She'd toss a gallon of milk if it sat on the counter for a day and free range eggs would 100% give you bird herpes if you didn't scrub them with bleach. According to her.

MIND YOU she grew up in rural Mississippi drinking milk from her family's farm :|

So yeah...

Actually no fucking clue what the FDA is actually doing for consumers these days...smdh

Don‘t ask me how I know this but it is actually a vagina and a butt in one, we could call it a bagina or a vutt. I think it’s proper name is a chute. But personally I’d prefer to call it a bagina.

That last line of yours legit sounds like a verse from a country and western song.
Ha ha! Yeah it’s crazy! Imagine if that’s what evolution has that in mind for all of us! Ahhh!

I’ve been really interested in contamination recently. Molds and fungi are fascinating to me. I want to go take a chemistry class at the local college. I wonder if I still look young enough I can blend in without having to pay for school?

Chemistry is so much math :cough: Take a mycology class, much more interesting and focused on fungus ;)

I want to mix the chemicals! And have access to them! I will use a calculator! The cool thing about math is it has an answer, even it you don’t know it... it has one. I think. Lol

I want to know who can read pihkal and understand what the hell dude is talking about!! Pm me! Lol

So it's 5:30am here. Woke up to pee, had an idea about some bubble hash this morning:

I put my heavy pizza stone in the oven and set it to 170f. I let it just hit 170, shut the oven off and put my semi-dry stuff on top. Don't wanna decarb but also want to make something a little smoother in terms of grain.

So that happened. Then I remembered since PotM happened...I'd be getting a new system of hydro nutes (tho I'm so sold on Geoflora for soil thus far)....ANYWAYS....Prescription Blend nutes...gotsta googlin and saw hydroxyapatite. Golly that sounded familiar!

Ca10(PO4)6(OH)2

Hydroxy is a very common ion written as OH-

I've always looked at these molecules like quick connect chuck for a dremel: they make one molecule which normally would be a little a stubborn to bong bond (legit spelling error there) with other shit all willing and ready :D Reading further into them now makes me think I need to go back and review ionic compounds...I'm forgetting something important.

Apatite is a common mineral. Our bones and teeth are made of it. Mythology holds that blades made from steel forged in bone charcoal contained magical powers. I'm wondering if phosphorous had more to do with that but that's a whole 'nother part of my life :D

OK...the whole point of this post is I just audibly went 'awwwwww!' at 5:30am because of this shit:

Hüdroksüapatiidi_kristallid.jpg

It's a teeny tribble-like growth of hydroxyapatite...wait for it....on stainless steel. Yes, I have pack bonded with a SEM picture.

Welcome to my brain! Apologies for this rant.

I found some cool info that you made me look up! Lol.
Teeth and bones look similar and share some commonalities, including being the hardest substances in your body. But teeth aren’t actually bone.

This misconception might arise from the fact that both contain calcium. More than 99 percent of your body’s calcium can be found in your bones and teeth. Approximately 1 percent is found in your blood.

Despite this, the makeup of teeth and bones are quite different. Their differences inform how they heal and how they should be cared for.

What are bones made of?

Bones are living tissue. They’re made up of the protein collagen and the mineral calcium phosphate. This enables bones to be strong but flexible.

Collagen is like a scaffolding that provides the bone’s framework. The calcium fills in the rest. The inside of the bone has a honeycomb-like structure. It’s called trabecular bone. Trabecular bone is covered by cortical bone.

Because bones are living tissue, they’re constantly being remodeled and regenerated throughout your life. The material never stays the same. Old tissue is broken down, and new tissue is created. When bone breaks, bone cells rush to the broken area to begin regeneration of tissue. Bones also contain marrow, which produces blood cells. Teeth do not have marrow.

What are teeth made of?

Teeth are not living tissue. They’re comprised of four different types of tissue:

  • dentin
  • enamel
  • cementum
  • pulp
The pulp is the innermost part of a tooth. It contains blood vessels, nerves, and connective tissue. The pulp is surrounded by dentin, which is covered by the enamel.

Enamel is the hardest substance in the body. It has no nerves. Though some remineralization of enamel is possible, it can’t regenerate or repair itself if there’s significant damage. This is why it’s important to treat tooth decay and cavities sooner rather than later.

The cementum covers the root, under the gum line, and helps the tooth stay in place. Teeth also contain other minerals, but do not have any collagen. Because teeth are not living tissue, it’s important to maintain good oral hygiene, since early damage to teeth cannot be naturally repaired.

The bottom line

While teeth and bones might appear to be the same material at first glance, they’re actually quite different. Bones can repair and heal themselves, while teeth cannot...

So both weirdo strains from the Nichole are weird...obviously. But this one with the super-weird leaf 'pinching' is now showing signs of variegation:

Mutation...or am I messing something up?

^ @GrowTina the #BESTVA #p1000w is holding its own in my 2x4 tent.

@GeoFlora Nutrients seem to be making a decent improvement over just FFOF.

Using Azomite as a foliar doesn't look like it did damage.

In other news I'm still in lust with hash:

Aaaaand my mouse is about to get throw against the wall.

I've got butterflies!

12 plants in homemade soil. Soil will be made as soon as the snow leaves my various compost and poop piles.

Starting with 25/25/50 last year's soil, peat, and my own normal compost (all vegetable matter with a little horse poo smattered about the mix)

From there I'll be adding chicken shit, bat shit, and horse shit. I have plenty of all three provided free by nature. Why not use it? Also gypsum and rabbit feed pellets at this point.

Then azo, myco, and humics.

Oh, and perlite until it looks right.

Last year I did SubCool's (RIP) super soil and got some really nice plants:

It worked well but the whole recipe requires a bunch of things, many of which are difficult to get here. I'm also not paying $30 for 5lb baggie of rare dodo bird doodie. If I see deficiencies I'll address such issues in time with supplemental nutrients.

They'll be in 20 or 25 gallon grow bags out under the fleeting Michigan sun. Rain water when available and well water when needed. I guess I should clarify our well...it's tapped into a limestone aquifer as opposed to a normal groundwater well. This bumps up my alkalinity a bit, but HEY....I've got two happy plants living in it right now in hydro so I'm not super concerned.

I've only been seriously smoking cannabis since 2018 so I know very little about 'what I like'. Because of this I am going for variety this year. I've grown only two of the strains before: GG4 and Gelat.OG. Gelat.OG is currently my main medicine but I'm looking for more energetic and creative strains for my rec weed.

So my plants:

Gelat.OG X2
GG4
Alien Rock Candy
Rudeboi OG
Wedding Cake
(sooo excited for this one...looks to be a gorgeous strain!)
Critical Purple Kush
Sour Diesel
(another new one I'm so giddy for)
LSD
HulkBerry
(this, too)
Triple Cheese
And the grandest lady of all: White Widow

I'll be popping the beans as soon as I figure out where the man hid all my party cups :<

SO EXCITE imma vom
Hey looking good my friend! Hey look into a strain called golden goat super energetic and has pain relief best energizing strain I have ever smoked.

You have awesome posts woman! That pic of the hash ball with the eggs is sweet! The hash looks like A perfect sphere! I wanna eat that!

Welp...got a new mouse ordered, got in a fight with the kid, had a hash session with the man aaaaaand something in my shoulder popped trying to push a horny kitten in heat away from our virginal and elderly couch dog. This morning started out with sitting in a cold hair ball. I'm done. Wake me up when it's last frost.
