Cooking with The Chronic

Made a decent little bunch!

I freeze them in small packs now so I only take out what I need.

I spry my molds with canola oil before filling them. Works great, but I’ll have to try the cornstarch. Commercial gummies are poured into molds stamped into compacted cornstarch, so no wonder it works well.
That's where I got the idea. I researched the tips of top (non-canna) candy makers. Every one said the same thing... I had to try it. Haven't looked back yet.
I've noticed it also helps with the oily outside texture. It leaves mine with, almost, a waxy & slightly sticky texture. They hold great at room temp... for days actually. I just freeze/fridge to keep fresh and mold free.

Learned a bunch over the last few batches. Try to improve every time.

My next attempt will be tincture & hard candy....

Is that done with butter? Looks to gold a colour.
So how was it?
:goodjob::peace:
Yeah... that was one of my first batches. The cookies were delicious, but not nearly as strong as I make now.

It's hard to do, with butter, what I can with oil. I'm kinda stuck on EVOO right now. Trying my hand at tincture soon. That should open up some new ideas in the kitchen.

Sounds great bud.
I've made tingture Royal vodka. 96% proof.
Gets the party started!!! :green_heart:

Made a batch of Jolly Rancher green Apple gummies. Worked okay, except for a couple of things. It made too much for the molds that I have - could have used one to two more molds to fit it all. Second thing is that my oil separated and I got a layer of fat on them. Not exactly what I was looking for. Maybe I should let the mix cool more next time?

I’ve got my gummy bear army standing in a baking sheet because I’ll put them back in the fridge to dry out a bit. I’ve found it really helps with texture if I give them a couple of days cold drying time.

OMG you stood them all up! That's crazy!

Yes, I let the mixture cool and keep stirring it until it's thickened up enough for the oil not to separate out. Not cold by any means, just cool enough to get some texture

Of course they are standing, that exposes more surface area. As they march off to a very trippy teddy bear picnic. Lol

Noted on the cooling. I think I was afraid of it getting too cool and seizing up on me.

Love Teddy Bear's Picnic, song and book!

I found there to be a pretty broad temp range between too runny to stay mixed and too solid to pour into the molds. I would put a fork in the measuring cup and stir it up, and then see how it ran off when I pulled the fork out. As soon as it stopped being watery it seemed good to me.

Separation when using tincture is minimal, so I wasn’t anticipating this issue. I kept it stirred as I went, hoping it would work to keep it in suspension.

To be fair, they worked just fine. I was pretty darn high yesterday, this is why I got nothing accomplished yesterday. Lol

I just may have to keep this batch for myself. I’ll try again tonight with either raspberry or black cherry. I have about eight cups of oil to play with.

I actually just finished filming the video tutorial and made sure to bring attention to that issue. I wouldn't have ever thought to say anything about it if you hadn't brought it up. :high-five:
#fuckingteamwork

I'm just waiting for YouTube to do it's thing.....
