I'm relatively new at smoking cannabis (3 years) other than for a bit in high school but I have no idea what that was. I feel like I missed all the classics. That's why I have a fascination with ACE genetics. I do like these new hybrids too but they aren't like these pure sativas. I don't know why more people aren't into them, I guess it's the long flowering times. Do you have any suggestions (other than ACE and CBG) on breeders or other classics?

Neik,
Some pure Sativa's like Durban Poison for example make my heart race to the point it's physically uncomfortable, scary and probably not that great for me. I have tried it more than once from different growers and all have done me the same way. I have tried other 100% strains with the same reactions. I need to stay below 80% sativa hybrids or my tried and true indicas That's just my observation and it could be due to other totally unrelated factors. But time and time again the above us true.

Oh I missed a lot of them too... for good unfortunately. I'm doing what I can to sort through genuine stuff that's still around. Usually grown in a proper way these strains stand out easily. The reasons why equatorial sativas have been gone comes down to three things: long flowering time, low to middle THC content and small yield. This practically excludes them from commercial grows, where bottom line is the most important thing, so easier, faster and more yielding genetics wins every time. And growing them indoor on small scale takes dedication and patience, which many novice growers just don't have.

African sativas are racy and upbeat, that's true. Some strains like Malawi Gold or Durban Poison are very hard to handle in upper doses and it's very easy to go one toke over the line with these. These won't have much appeal to smokers who mainly want to relax after long day of work or just simply knock off. However these are also excellent party smoke, which can keep you active for hours. It's all about your lifestyle and buttons you like to push I guess.

Snow High is breeder who specializes in sativas. Has most of them in his stable. :Namaste:
I looked him up. A lot of rare and strange genetics and he's getting raving feedback online.

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

They look big enough to fend for themselfs now. Seeing they survied their first test. Only makes them stronger. I think I'd have to top that one that got buggered up at it's top. Rather than a loppsided plant.. But the girls are looking good.. Have these been sexed or are they showing yet. i uppotted and moved these UD's I have under this LED from veg for a minute. They should be showing sex soon. I keepem short as hell.. One even shows purple stems througout the leaf. Might be intresting. GL and Keepem Green

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Yeah 3-4 weeks outside and if they survive there's little that can hurt them. A lot of rain is hard for the root system, but as soon as they suck it up they'll flourish and I don't have to water till July. Now it's time to outplant the last seedlings and enjoy the ride.

UDs usually are fast in showing sex, once you cut the photoperiod it's 10 days tops. If you get a stocky gal with short internodes you're golden. Just keep topping until the dense bush is formed. She won't reach more than 8 feet unless sativa pheno pops up, but I only saw it once in F1 and in F2 it seems quite rare. Some show purpling in veg, you might also see purple pistils instead of white, but I didn't see any plant get purple in flowering so far.

Hey Conrad, I've been checking things out from the shadows. All is looking well on your side of the world :thumb:
Those Columbians have my eye something shocking, I've been reading your Landrace thread and I'm hooked into getting me some old school genetics in my seed bank. I'm young but i can appreciate the work that many others have done before me in the name of cannabis so I down for scoping the world (while still young) for landrace genetics. Me and my partner had our 1st outdoor serious grow and managed to get 2.04 pounds of some pretty decent flowers. One of which is a strain from the 90's era. large bulky buds with a sandlewood/cedar taste with spicey incense after tastes. Have no idea what it is called though haha.

Good luck with the grow brother and I'll be keeping an eye on those columbian beauties (Hoping you get some amazing old school phenos) :Namaste:

Oh Colombians are great, the problem is flowering :lot-o-toke::cheesygrinsmiley: Which brings me to my plant on hand.

5th week of forcing is coming to the end and I think I start seeing tiny pre-flowers being formed, but I might be wrong. Yeah slow strain with minimal veg that is much longer than 6 or 8 weeks, but hey I just pulled 24 Brix here which is the highest I pulled ever from a cannabis plant. Shit's getting weirder by the day with her... cause I'm pretty sure it's a female. She's around the bend know which mean she's getting stretched as in levelled. I slowly take fan leaves that end up on the top and secondary growth is spurting this way. Easy to maintain I have to say :lot-o-toke::laughtwo: :surf:

Here's Lebanese partly eaten by my cat few days ago, but bouncing back. The problem here it's most likely a male... which on the other hand I'm gonna keep for pollen, cause it's the best I've had in this bunch so far and good genes might be here to be passed onto an F1 cross.

Here are young Sensi Star and Bubba Hash (they're tagged). Freshly after their first shot of nettle/horsetail tea. I'm very careful with these as I usually end up with burnt/dead plants when I let them stay in the sun for too long without a shot of water.

And the sun temps here today are not so low.

Last one is UD which looks like a female to me. Moderate vigour, thick leaves and very defined lateral growth. I'm gonna put her on 11/13 in a week or so.

Very interested in the Leb plant i have 10 seeds for my late summer/ fall indoor grow. Hope yours is a female.

35C is pretty decent lol, those little lovelies will be soaking up all those perfect light array of spectrums. Sun grown cannabis FTW

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Yeah it's not too bad, later it will get worse :laughtwo: Red spectrum makes for much stronger plants, downside is a lot of them die if not watered daily. But I like it that way. Reveg? Never had any :thumb:

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

We're going through first real summery heatwave, this is due to African anticyclone moving over Italy. Plants started to suffer, my fault actually cause I didn't adjust watering schedule to rising temps and the pots were dry before I watered swiftly in small amount. Now I need to to do it every 2 days.

At this point they just make it through the day and sunburns pop up sometimes either due to my spraying in the morning or just from the sun rays. Indoor you very often lack enough light, outdoor at certain latitude there's the opposite problem. Actual shading is necessary if you grow for real. They'll perform better that way. Feeding schedule can be stepped up as well, they'll take more cause photosynthesis needs to be pushed to defense, potassium helps here. In the night they should really start producing with batteries charged to the maximum. BTW I definitely see a pointed pistil there on Colombian, so if she's a gal then it hasn't been wasted time after all :thumb::lot-o-toke::surf:

Contandino dato che anche io coltivo in nord Italia volevo chiederti se potesse essere una idea migliore coltivare solo auto dato che finiscono prima che arrivi il brutto tempo
Grazie in anticipo

Re: Conradino23's Another Outdoor Grow With High Brix Soil - Air-Pots & SoCal Seed St

Still chilly here. Wish I had alittle of your heat. I have your plants under that LED light I just got. Cool little light, but sure doesn't throw enough heat out to veg plants properly. But they are good. Temps are down to 46 tonight. My lazy ass hasthe pots sitting on the floor and temps go down to 60 dgrees soil. Not looking good for us to open the pool soon anyways.
Girls are starting to look good. You sure do have na solid looking sativa going. I've never really grown true landace. They sure are good for seed production into a hybred. Going to be intresting. I always loved that sativa leaf look.
GL and I'll be around Keepem Green

Ciao Gigio!

Ti rispondo subito.
