Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

The last few days I've been worried about the seeds on the Colombian Gold plant. My fear that I over pollinated it if that's possible. There are just SOOO many seeds on each bud and I wonder if they're going to mature. So today I got out my fly tying visor and put the CG plant up on my desk and started examining buds close-up. Although not giddy, I was happy to spot mature seeds peeking out of their calyxes. The Colombian Gold harvest is officially under way. I think these seeds will need to be scarified very well prior to germination. They are shiny wet with resin as I think you can see in the photo. I've never grown Colombian Gold before and have to say the aroma is not the most pleasant I've ever experienced. It's a dank sort of rotten lemon mixed with diesel fuel aroma. Not looking forward to trimming it as it was making my eyes water just getting in close looking for the mature seeds.

Woohoo! Great to see them starting to mature! Seeds seeds here we come!

So I have been reading about a product now for about a year that would seem to be a must have in the grow room. It is called Great White. Based on everything I've read I went ahead and invested in a 4 oz. bottle. That stuff is expensive!! Anyone use it? If so can you share your results here please??

Yea what penny said. I've used it a few times an the stuff is great. Now I jus use roots powder from docs kit lol.

Glad 2 see ur beans turned out mature. An lol yea I had a plant it was a cheese dominate strain an tht thing stunk like baby shit and a fuely smell lmao. It was some pretty good "shit"

Just finished applying the colloidal silver to the Quarter Pounder auto flower plant. I'm thinking I'll keep brushing it on for maybe another week then call it quits. I think because of the small stature of the plant when I started it's not going to be a prolific producer of female pollen sacks. But, I am happy to say I have spotted a few more today AND see what looks like it might be some starting to grow right in a small but which is ideal. Hopefully what I see turns out to indeed be female pollen sacks. Here are a couple photos from this morning. The colloidal silver, after over 3 weeks of application is starting to take it's toll on the treated branches. Imagine if I was being sprayed on?

Most of the pollen sacks are forming towards the bottom of the branches. Ideally we want them to be up towards the top of the branches. If you notice a male plant will nearly always be taller then a female he's growing next to. Nature does this so the pollen can simply fall downward onto the female and pollinate her. I have been brushing the CS on to one taller branch and thus far the only pollen sacks I see on that branch are also down near the bottom. I've been brushing it on all the nodes on that branch as it's grown taller and taller so in theory it should be producing pollen sacks all the way to the top. But I am wondering if maybe because the top of the taller branch is new growth it hasn't had put out the pollen sacks yet. I said I would be applying it for another week. My plant is to keep brushing it onto the top parts of the branches in the hopes of creating pollen sacks at the tops of the branches. We'll see how that works out. So far I have used 1.2 oz of colloidal silver liquid. Much more then on any other plant so far, and for far fewer pollen sacks. BUT, at a cost of $2.50 per ounce of colloidal silver if I produce just one seed it will pay for the CS I've used.

One of the auto plants I have growing right now that has started to flower is a strain from Fast Buds from @SeedsMan called Stardawg. It is a pretty darn nice looking plant. I hope to be able to gather a bit of pollen and dust a bud or two on that plant to make some QP X Stardawg crosses. Stardawg brings ( Chemdawg 4 X Tres Dawg ) to the table along with a high THC of 22%. Crossed with the Quarter Pounder sativa dom with Brazilian genetics and it's 25% THC has the possibility of some pretty potent buds.

Can I ask you a sexing question? I won't post here to hijack your thread but if you could have a look at my last post in my thread it would be very appreciated!

The very last photo on your thread shows a male plant.

Oh shizz beez hows the view from pollen heaven lmao. Ur bout to have a shiz ton of pollen. I was up painting colas all night to pollinate some bitches lmao.

You're quite welcome. And you're also welcome to post questions and/or photos in this thread at any time. It is educational in nature and if I don't know the answer there are folks who visit this thread from time to time who would know for sure.

With regard to making seeds......if you have a male and a female why on earth wouldn't you make seeds? Sometimes I'll collect just enough pollen to dust 1 or 2 buds and then pitch the male into the compost pile. But I would now have more seeds with which to grow. I've gotten as many as 47 seeds off a medium sized bud. So yeah, if you have a female why not harvest some of the pollen and dust a couple of her bottom buds?

I did some more Colombian Gold seed plucking this morning when I fed her. These hand picked seeds will be the very best. The Cream of the Crop so to speak.

Well it figures that if it has Chemdawg in it you've grown it! :high-five:

I've not had the opportunity to grow any of the Chemdawg family but from nearly everyone I see growing it they nearly all say it's amazing.
