Colombian Gold Grow: Come Learn With Me How To Produce Your Own Seeds!

When I pollinated my SSDC I didn't know for sure if it took until I was doing an inspection and a mature seed popped out 6 weeks later.

The DDA I doused with pollen daily for 3 days had seeds (immature) showing in less than a week. Magenta calyxes with stark white stripes.

I'd bet at least a dollar that your pollen did it's job. It seems from the photo like the calyxes are just slightly swollen and the pistils appear mighty sparse.

I know sometimes when I've pollinated when the female was early into flowering the plant grows bud material around the seeds so you don't see them as readily. It would be fun to get seeds off that three way cross and see what they produce but not the end of the world.

All of the hidden seeds in my SSDC were in the lower portions of the branch tops, leaving me plenty of smoking material and about 30 seeds.

I get them too and I am horrendously lazy as opposed to your hands on approach. I am curious to see if you can figure it out before me so I dont have to work too hard. ;) the deficiencies I see in flower dont seem to really bother anything so I just ride it out. Somebody told me yesterday or the day before that they get excited at curled leaf tips on the buds, I think over in my journal as a matter of fact. Maybe it is really commonplace and people dont talk about it. Lol.

Do you use a ph pen? I use strips from China.
Hey Ganja, Are you using the kind of strip a pool/spa would use?

I bought them off of Ebay. The only English on the package besides the numbers on the chart says "PH 1-14 universal indicator paper"

Hey @Ganjagrowergu how come you're not breeding to make more of your Colombian Red Point X Unknown??

So today I read in a post by @SweetSue that she had a Carnival seed in a hempy solo cup for like a week and it wouldn't germinate for her so she put it in a paper towel. I guess that didn't work either so she squeezed the shell which was having a hard time opening and I understood that is cracked open revealing the tap root.

Well I found this to be really interesting as I have had two Kilimanjaro regular seeds in a hempy solo cup now for over a week and they're not doing a thing. So I uncovered them and squeezed them both till the seed cracked and I re-buried them. If either of these seeds germinates I think my overall germination success rate may just go up another 5-10% with that hack.

Thank you Sweet Sue

Here is a picture from this afternoon of the Colombian Gold female that I seeded. I can tell she has been well pollinated. All I have to do it keep her alive for at least another 5 or 6 weeks.

I'd have a nervous breakdown.

Well, being honest I actually squeezed three seeds. Two of them (the Kilimanjaro) just cracked along the seam. The third, an auto flower seed from Fast Seeds squished when I squeezed the tweezers but that one had been in the hempy cup for 2 weeks. This was my last hope for it. We'll see what happens.

Nice work beez! :high-five: Was the wetness to deactivate the pollen? May she produce many viable seeds. I have no fears about your capabilities to get her successfully to the finish line.

Nice red leaf veins in the NL x DDA! I’ll be interested in a smoke report. Do you notice differences in scent? Is she expressing a terpene makeup similar to one or the other?

I am pleased with the purple showing through but also with the fragrance of the plant. Not exactly like a DDA, but definitely not bland like the Northern Lights in flower. I detect a sweet, floral aroma from the buds. There is good sharing going on with this particular cross.
