Colombian Andes Greenhouse SIP CBD Auto Grow

Ok, about some other plants, I need to hang some more light, but I also have some critters.
Are these aphids?
Or beneficial insects?
I hit them with some diatomaceous earth, but it did not even seem to phase them.

I am hoping to find a nursery soon, and get some alyssum and other plants growing, so I can host some ladybugs!
In the meantime, does anyone have any natural remedies?

Aphids, and the DE takes time but should work. Mild soapy water will as well.
Ahhh, thanks, Shed!
I will keep giving them a light dusting each day until I get the ladybugs!
Since I move my plants outside every morning, in the winter when the sky looks like yours I use my lux meter (or the Photon app if you have it) to tell if there's more light outside or under my LEDs.
Yeah, some day I am going to have to make time to learn how to use it.
(At the moment we are still trying to get our workflow back... making excellent progress, but still super busy.)

One day SOON I need to learn how to use it!
@Krissi Carbone , I may take you up on your offer! (Maybe in a few days.)
I have been watching for a few days. I think 8 of them are finally catching fire.
I may have hurt myself with the few cold days before I got the seedling pads set up.
The big surprise are the Northern Lights CBD. I figured they would be the smallest (Northern Light being so compact and all), but they are the biggest of the batch!
I wonder if maybe the Northern Light are less cold-sensitive than the other crosses?
(Don't know, really.)

I have another 8-9 that look promising, and a few that I may need to pluck, but I want to give them some more time.
If I pluck any, I want to plant the seeds in the same buckets, and see how they do when they are started out on the heating mat.
Probably won't be a maximized grow, but already the plants are getting a little scary to watch!
So overall I am excited and happy.
:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo::slide::slide::slide:

Thanks, everyone, for your expert advice and help!
It will be wonderful to have "too much" bud!!

Wow, these SIPs are great! These plants get bigger every day!
(Thanks for the recommendation, @Azimuth !)
It is day 17.
Here is the same Northern Light CBD as before.
Now it has 4 nodes. (I am waiting for #5, so I can HST).
Probably she could be bigger if I had not gotten her too cold.
(There are others that are smaller.)

Now that some of the girls are getting underway, it seems like it is time to learn Photone.
I opened up the app, and tried to follow the prompts.
I bought the LED Full Spectrum unlock for $5.99.
I wrapped the paper around the lenses like it said.
I set it to DLI (is that right?)
Without the paper diffuser it bounces all over the place, between 150-250 DLI.
With the paper diffuser it bounces between 31-35 (maybe @33 ?)
Am I doing this right?
And what is the right amount of light?

I've said it to others before but, by switching to SIPs, you just became a better grower.
No joke!
(Now if I can keep from freezing them half to death in the planting...)

perfectamundo!
Thanks, CBD!

Don't forget to post up some progress pics over in #SIP Club. The more happy growers we can showcase over there there better as far as I'm concerned.

I'll try. If I can get my world to stop spinning. (Sorry to hear about Baked.)
Right now I'm just trying to stay afloat! (When my world stops spinning, then I can post...

Well, here is a quick update.
The SIPs are proving amazing!
Everything is the opposite of what I thought it would be.
The NL CBD continues to grow faster than everything else (I guess I need to get more of those seeds??)
This is the plant from before (I think 22 days?)
(Not the biggest plant for 22 days, but the biggest plant I have had at 22 days...)
It is already showing signs of good side branching, and I should be able to gently and lovingly clip the tip either tomorrow or the next day, to start HST.
NL Long.jpg

This is a short, squat pheno that is my new favorite.
Also good side branching, but tight nodal spacing.
So far these Pyramid NL CBD are very aggressive growers! (I wish I had a male to make seeds!)
I should also be able to begin HST in a day or two.
nltight.jpg

The Delicious Candy (aka Delicious Cheese) also seem to be doing well, although on average maybe only about half the size of the NL CBD.

The the Auto Blue Ace seems to have been hit hard by the cold. Normally they would keep up with Delicous Candy (Delicious Cheese), but they seem comparatively really small!
I keep hoping they will take off, but the NL CBD is out-pacing them by a mile. (Too bad! I love blueberry crosses!)

I plucked out three of the tiny ones that I had to go digging for, because they seemed stunted, and they were not really doing anything.
I soaked and direct-seeded 3 each of 00 Seeds "Afghan Mass XXL Auto" in their place. (Bought from a sponsor.)
CBD content is officially listed as "unknown", but some websites report around 3-4 %. Others list it in the 5%+ category, so we will see.
(I normally like 1:1, but 5% is normally good enough, and in this case I will make an exception.)

I will probably try to plant some more Auto Blue Ace also, to see how they come up if they sit on a heating pad from the get-go (and do not get too cold).
Actually, I poured a little liquid on the soil to pre-wet it, and then I sowed direct (surface temps are around 76F today, and they are all sitting on heating pads).
I will mist them to keep the moist.
With the moisture reaching up to the seed area, I will let the plant take as much water from the SIP as it can, and I will try NOT to hand-water it (or to hand-water it as little as possible).
Maybe that is a mistake? But I was very happy because before it seems like the little plantas were able to drink on their own without me having to hand water. So I would like to try reducing top watering as soon as possible. (We will see how it goes.) :nerd-with-glasses:

I think there are youtube tutorials on calibrating the Photone app. Our resident helper @BakedARea hasn't been around for a while.
Thanks, Shed! Right now my world is spinning, and I have to focus on the main points. I had one girl who was not getting enough light, so I hung one more light, and turned down the dimmers some, "until it felt right" (if that makes any sense. "As if" I have calibrated eyeballs, haha, except I think we can have a sense about "how bright is too bright."

What I would like to do is put the girls on plastic saucers, remove the heat mats, and hang more lights. Do you think the reservoir would be too cold then? Or do you think it would likely work? (Because I am pretty sure I will need to hang more lights as time goes on.)

I don't grow indoors much but if you have a temp gun, aim it at the floor! If it's in the 70s you should be fine, 60s and your roots might be getting a bit chilly - especially during lights off.

Anything you can do to get them up off a cold floor is a good idea, whether that's foam mats or bucket lids.
Ok, cool. Thanks! :thanks:
My temperature gun is actually in Chile (long story), so I just ordered another one. (I will see it in a few weeks.)
In the meantime I will try to get those children's EVA foam rubber floor mats to put down, to insulate the pots from the floor.
Then I will check the temperature gun.
Then I will put down the lids on top of the EVA foam rubber (for spills), but I want to pick those heat mats up, because right now it is 76-78F in there, and I will need to hang more lights soon. So I will need to insulate the tubs from the floor.
One way or another, we should be able to get them up!
And once I can get a few good light bars hung, I will need to hang more lights (as the girls grow).

"Do, or do not. There is no try." -Yoda
Hahahaha!
(Cute!) :thumb:
Only, with all due respect to our little marionette friends, is there no such a thing as genuinely trying, but not being able to achieve?
(Or what happened to me my whole life? Hahahaha!)

(Or is it as perhaps more my dad used to say, "Yes, you are trying! VERY trying!" -- Hahaha. ?)

Ohhh......
Well, this poor little girl is way too small to be going into puberty.
(And 22 days to pre-flower, that is the earliest I have seen yet.)
ohhh.jpg

Ugh!
I was hoping it would not come to this, but I am probably going to have to pull some plugs.... :(

Part of me wants to plant in something else (to make sure I get a crop).
But another part of me wants to replant with Auto Blue Ace, this time on heating pads, so they get a fair run.

But what I don't get is that the Northern Lights CBD and the Purple Kush 1:1 are both looking strong, and the Delicious Candy (Cheese) also looks good. It is only the Auto Blue Ace that is small. So now I am not sure what to think.

[in case they are sensitive to cold, or anything like that]).
Well, it is a good experiment! And the Northern Lights CBD, the Purple Kush 1:1, and the Delicious Candy are all doing well.

Whaaaa? never a dull moment with cannabis! I didn't think this was possible. What does it mean?
I'm not sure, but I think it might mean that I need to pluck and replant the Auto Blue Ace...
😢
(Because the other strains seem to be uniformly doing much better...)
