Cola Monster's Perpetual Solo Cup Grow Feat: ViparSpectra's P2000's x 2

Good morning all! :passitleft:

Just a quick update for the journal before I head back to the garden where I had to chop off the main cola on my indica dominant Jilly Bean plant today due to bud rot unfortunately.
The main colas on the indica plants are so compact that the stems can't even get air which leads to mold eventually and why I'm removing the strain from the rotation after this run and then sticking to the sativa dominant strains going forward.
So no more Blueberry Feminized...OG Kush Feminized #2...or the Jilly Bean strain which all have dense compact flowers that are prone to getting mold if the humidity is not kept in check.:lot-o-toke:

A couple photos of the minor damage:

I'm really hoping that my sativa dominant Sager Bloom Haze F2 plant can hold on for another week or so before harvesting since she has thick compact colas herself but with no signs of bud rot issues whatsoever.:thumb:

Well that's it for today's journal update, I hope everyone is doing well and have a great day mates.:Namaste:
That sucks about the indica bud rot hope you got it all.

It only struck the main colas on the indica plants with all the lateral flowers doing just fine as of now. With less then ten days left to go for most of the plants I think I'm good, or hoping that is.;)

Clear eyes and steady hand on the tiller and ten days will slip by. Hope you’re in the clear - but not your first time at that dance, right? Just treat and watch?

Hey Cola... :ciao: ...what do you have for air flow where your grow is?...I'm kinda' anal about air flow, cause I can't justify the expense (initial cost and operating costs) of some proper hvac equipment...I have a half dozen clip fans, three or four small turbo fans, and an oscillating tower fan in my 6 X 7 big grow room in the shed at various heights throughout...I get some pretty crazy humidity #'s, but never have had to deal with any mold in that room...cheerz...:high-five:...h00k...:hookah:...

How's it going dr. h00k?:high-five:

Like you mentioned above I'm now thinking that it's not only the lack of air circulation in my grow room that caused the minor bud rot on a few of my plants but a bit of over watering on my part as well which is a lesson I'll carry into the next grow.
What temps. and humidity levels do you have to deal with on a regular basis where you live? Just curious!:hmmmm:

Here's some photos below showing my grow room setup and the present fan locations in which I need to add another small @VIVOSUN 6" oscillating fan at the other end of the room and possibly one on the table itself to blow air up underneath the canopy.

Thanks for dropping in and for the sound advice as well, much appreciated!:thanks:

hehe, your grow space looks a lil' more sophisticated than mine with all those controllers and such...I'm very basic...just a cheap hygrometer...I run my fans 24/7, including the 6" exhaust fan at 75%...I rarely see RH below 50%, and usually in the 70's I would say...depending on the year, temps lean to the cool side, especially spring/fall...I would say the average daytime temps would be around 65F, with swings of mid 50's to upper 80's...I run my lights at night , both to save money(off peak rates) and provide heat for overnight lows...my turbo fans all are on the floor blowing upwards, and the other positioned to blow through the plants...pretty basic, but so far has worked for me, even tho' I have a tendency to overcrowd the space(so many strains...so little time) ;) :D...cheerz...:high-five:...h00k...:hookah:...

Afternoon all! :high-five:

Mystery solved!🧐
The lack of air circulation in my grow room that led to bud rot on a few indica plants was not only a mechanical problem but human error on my part as well for not checking over the equipment to see if everything was working properly in which there seems to be an issue with my cyclestat or the photo cell possibly that automatically shut off all of my aux. fans after lights out and I didn't know until this morning when I opened the room early and saw no fans running at all. Grrrr!:lot-o-toke:

I'm really surprised that there wasn't more damage to the plants with no air circulation at all during the dark hours and I corrected immediately after finding out by plugging in all my fans to direct power in which I'll turn them off manually now if need be.;)

Hopefully things will take a turn for the best before harvest which is less the 10 days away.:thumb:

Well that's it for this journal update. Have a great day mates!:Namaste:

Ride it dude. Stress mounts I know. 10 Days

Deep breaths. Little steps. Hit ten days.

Then fast dry a sample and taste and then take deep breaths again!

🤣

Nick
I'll do my best Nick!;)
It's always the last couple weeks of flowering that I have to be on the lookout for either possible bud rot...nanners...or who knows what like my cyclestat failing and my fans not running at night. If it's not one thing it's another which to me is part of the fun of growing.

Hope you're having a great day mate and thanks for dropping in!:Namaste:

I have 3 strains between potentially 1 and 3 weeks harvest between them right now. 21 of them 😅

I feel your pain bro! We gotta just roll on and watch, not constantly, for that way lies madness! Just continue to check and worry and wonder what might of been but can be improved for the next time, because that’s where the joy is to be found.

But we both got this far. Both 10 days out. We got them this far. We didn’t suddenly become plant killers! Sleep well. 9 Days now! Your (bountiful) harvest inbound!

Nick

Instead of duct hangers you built your exhaust a little shelf...cute!
Afternoon Shed,
The fan is screwed to the top plate of the temporary partition wall I built for the room. As you can see I was in a hurry to finish thus the blue tarp above the doors which I had to cut a 4" hole through in order to run the exhaust hose.
That's all I had on hand at the time and another change/fix I'll be making after this run is over as well as cutting a 4" hole in the floor to bring in fresh air from underneath the house instead of the warm air it pulls in from outside the room currently.

Hope you're having a great day mate! :high-five:

However you worked it out, it's a solid fix! All's well here as I keep wandering into the garden to see how my sprouts are doing. :)
Is it hot down your way today? It's mid 80's outside here and near 90 degrees in my flowering room which has me sweating, no pun intended.:laughtwo:

Hey there mates,
A couple quick changes in the grow room where I moved the @VIVOSUN 6" oscillating fan from its previous location since it was just blowing warm air down onto the plants and built a jig to clamp it to the opposite side of the table to move air upwards through the canopy which within 5 minutes time made the temps. start to slowly go down.
I also shut off my CO2 burner completely to reduce the heat that is thrown off by the pilot light itself and I hope will help get me through this current heatwave we're experiencing. :lot-o-toke:

If anyone has any tricks up their sleeves to help keep my room cooler during the hot days without using my A/C which is expensive as can be to say the least please feel free to chime in at your convenience and let me know, it would be greatly appreciated.;)

Not even close! Mid 60s and partly cloudy today, but a little higher toward the end of next week.

Keep cooly cool CM!
Lucky you!;) We have a couple cool days ahead but then it's back to the 80's for about a week the forecast says. Why does it always have to warm up at harvest time?:laughtwo:

Good afternoon my friends!:ciao:

Please pardon the week long interruption in the updating of my solo cup journal but I've been busy as a bee here harvesting the last plants I grew while rearranging and cleaning the room for the next crop which again is now in progress with the new gals being on day 1 of flowering.;)

I'll post some harvest photos when I get a chance but until then I'll leave you with an updated video of the girls basking under their two @ViparSpectra P2000 lights which they absolutely love.:circle-of-love:
Have a great day mates and thanks for all the  and continued support of my work, it's much appreciated!:thanks::high-five:
