Here's your frosty Gid, and a tune to keep the party going. An anthem.

And here are some pics of the babies this morning. Happy Tuesday everybody!

They look so happy!

Nice little babies. 🍋
Thank you Keith. I put that down to some excellent advice I received from @Gee64 about soil moisture when starting a new pot. He says that if you squeeze the soil in a fist, it should be moist enough to cause a slight drip and no more. This is the first time I have prepared my soil to the correct degree of moisture.

Thank you Jon. I'm spraying the top with a combo of Sea Brix and Environoc 401, which is a microbe solution. I think planting direct helped tremendously.

A Change In Lighting - Day 6

1717597722758.jpeg

They are leaning into the light, asking for more (thank you @Jon), so I moved the light down to 32 cm / 12.5 inches from the seedlings, at 25 % which gives them about 290 ppfd. That is still within my range for the first week. They are on day 6 today. I will do a proper update tomorrow. I wanted to note the change in lighting.

I am taking a middle of the road approach to the lighting, a less is more approach. The reason I am doing this is that I am anticipating the return of loadshedding. Holding thumbs not, but it seems unlikely they have solved it.

Week 1 Update

It is likely that I will raise the light to 50 % to adjust ppfd to a higher rate. I can go up to 500 ppfd but I'd have to adjust the timing to keep to the DLI, which is why I prefer the middle ground for now.

Lighting Amendment for week 2

I tried putting the light up to 50 % and ppfd doubled, so I dialed back to 25 % again, and just lowered the light to 9 inches / 21 cm above the seedlings. I will monitor this and as they transition to veg I will increase to 50 %.

I’m just an infrequent flier around here and not much of a drinker but would gladly accept a cup of 4g mushroom tea for the evening and a chilled picture of grape kool-Ade.
And don’t forget the cowbell when you get your jam sessions banging out the music.

Looking good Carmen❤️🥰. It looks like you have a leaner😍.

I find leaners produce really nice buds, at least the Durban leaners I have had over the years. They get really nuggy. Hopefully that works out for yours too.

I'm glad you decided against 50% light.

Your approach now with lowering the light incrementally until your plan says they can handle 50% safely is a much better approach.

If you sunburn the leaves, DLI becomes meaningless if the leaves can't take the light in.

Good Call👊

Macallan neat, Hit me Jack🍻

Slàinte mhath Gee man! I hope I have a leaner too then!

Happy weekend and thank you for looking in. The babies are doing well. The Blueberry toppled over yesterday, when I lifted the pot, so I stabilized it with a pipe cleaner until the roots become more established.

Looks no worse for wear!
Resilient little things!

I forgot to mention that I left the lights on 2 hours longer than midnight last night, so to compensate I put them on an hour later this morning at 7 instead of 6. I don't know if that works but it made me feel better 😅

Nice looking first leaves coming in. Great seedling pics Carmen.

Thank you Jon :) I am so happy with these babies. I think they are the best I've seen on my table in a while.
