Closet Scrog Grow

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

apart from your "saggy" leaves your plants look fine to me, while i never have done a scrog grow, those i know who have always trim off anything under the screen since they nvr get enough light.

Thanks for that, do you have any thoughts on the saggy leaves? like i said after i watered them they seemed to perk up a bit.

I didnt get to finish trimming in time before the lights went out but i am working on cutting all growth that is not above the screen since we are going to switch the lights to 12/12 some time next week.

I ordered a Sentinel EVC-2 Environment controller and im also getting a co2 tank with regulator and plug that into the controller. Can i use co2 on veg plants or is it better suited for plants in flower?

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

Hey guys got back from the hydro store bought some supplies to start a dwc bubble bucket. Going to get that going once the 9 clones are big enough to cut clones from.
Got 2 air stones, big air pump, 3gal bucket, 5 gal bucket, Big net pot lid, grodan starter cubes, hydroton, hydrozome.

Also i got these things called Xtreme Tea Brews from Xtreme Gardening its an easy to brew blend of organic matter that is teeming with healthy soil microbes. Comprised of vermi-compost and humus, the beneficial microorganisms within each tea bag work in harmony with plants to break down organic matter, release the nutrients in plant available forms and help protect plant roots from pathogens and disease.

When added to plants, the entire microbial matrix begins to work in unison to optimize plant growth to give bigger, tastier and healthier fruits and vegetables. Available in packages containing Each Pak makes THREE gallons of compost tea.

Directions for Use:
Brew compost tea by adding the Xtreme Tea Brew to an aerated reservoir, a pail with air stone or a compost tea brewer and add the activator. After 24 to 48 hours, use two cups per plant and repeat weekly. Do NOT dilute.

Ingredients: Composted worm castings, kelp powder (Ascophyllum nodosum), humus and rock dust.

Cool its a benny brew tea bag! cost 50$ for a whole thing of them but should last quite a while!.

I also got a speed controller for my ventilation fan. and a 400w plant max hps bulb for my new 400w Revolt that just came in.

JD LIGHTING has been kind enough to supply me with a 1000w ballast for my next grow, i will have a link up soon.

Thanks for checkin in guys and if any one could give me any thoughts, ideas, or answers on any of the questions i have recently posted it would be awesome! thanks so much later!

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

jakster i have a question about the brew

after it is brewed for the time stated (Mine says 24 hrs) do i shut off the air pump? and also can i only use one batch at a time and throw it out each time. because i made a 3 gal bucket of it and instructions say 2 cups for every 7 gallons of soil. my plants are like 3 gal pots so how do i figure that out?

I started brewing my xtream tea today. will feed it to the plants tomorrow. Not really sure how to use it but lets see what happens.

The SLH and the Chem Dawg seed i germinated didnt make it. it was a foolish error on my behalf i have no one to blame but myself so i am just going to move on,
IMG_20120225_133759.jpg

i have started germinating the LSD and the A-Train Seeds thought so i will be checking them daily, as soon as i see a taproot i will put it into a jiffy peat pod thingy.

We switched the lights to 12/12 on the scrog plants as well. After giving them a dosage of BPN 3 Part Elite Transition Formula also cleaned the nutrient reservoir and the humidifier.

I also cut alot of lower growth off the plants today, i intend to cut more next week.

I also installed a Control Wizard Speedster Fan Control To run the outtake fan at 75% to try and cut down on cost.

VeG Tent

Ok everything is starting to take off in here but i am noticing tiny little flies or something in the grow area, they are noticeable i am a little worried about this. They are mostly hanging out in the soil but when i move the plants around they start to fly around. I think they might be soil mites or something. So i used some pesticide stuff that is for fruit and vegetable plants, its organic it also contains neem oil. It smells pretty rancid but i mixed it with ph'd water and sprayed all the plants , leaves, and soil with it, It says to use it once a week so i will continue to do so. We fed all plants with BPN 3 Part Elite Seedling Formula just to start on, once that reservoir is gone we will go to the next step. We will also feed these plants the benny brew if thats ok to do so in veg. The plants are taking off i just hope the mites aren't a problem

and im waiting on my 1000w JD Lighting Ballast to come in so i can start that journal be on the look out!

I also got most the supplies needed for a 5 gal DWC, I still have to get a small sub pump to run a drip line for the time being. ill keep everyone updated on that.

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

the thing is it, comes with 2 different things, one of them is the actual tea packet, and the other one is an "ACTIVATOR" almost looks like activated carbon, but i dont think the tea bag is intended to be opened, i suppose it wouldnt make a difference. So i should shut my air pump off after brewing? also a member on this site that uses his own homade benny brew said you can overdose your plant with it, so i assume even if i over do it a bit it wont effect the plants much. thanks for your help

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

thanks jakster, its my first attempt at a scrog i think its going well but i didnt account for the stretch, there still a few open spots left on the screen but its going to be hard to fill it up the way the plants are growing. Im going to measure run off like you said after i feed the brew and a watering. thanks for checkin in!

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

got this thing today called a KILL - A - VOLT and you plug it into an outlet, then plug your electrical device into it and it tells you how much watts, amps, hertz and Kv/h it uses. since we are using a dedicated 30 amp circuit we have a 12gauge extension cord plug into the wall outlet, over to the grow tents where it goes into a power surge protected 8 outlet strip (more like a square) it also has 2 power switches to shut the power on and off to either side of the strip outlet. We over spent on the electrical but the peace of mind is worth it to me. SO we will plug that kill a volt thing into the wall outlet, and plug the extension cord (which will be running every thing in the grow room literally everything ) into the killavolt and it says it will give us up to a 2 point differential reading of all those things plus it will give us a guestimate how much its going to cost monthly or even weekly or daily to use the grow room and see what we profit from. Keep ya posted on the numbers im kinda scared to see them. last months bill as almost 200$

yea I seen that at HD... I was going to get it, but I was using my CFL at that time, and it still made my electric bill just about 200... that is what made me start doing some research, when I found out that I am using the same amount of energy, just not getting the LUX that I should be getting with the amount of wattage that I am wasting...

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

thansk for stoppin in! i cut those 4 scrog plants from the 2 original mothers that i started from seed. They have been vegging for like 85+ days something redicoulus, we experinced a few hiccups in the beginign but these new 9 clones are taking off real fast and we problably wont let them get as old as the scrog plants before we flip the lights.

well ill be honest with you, im excited for the both of us, its my first time doing scrog, and i assume its yours too. caNT wait to see the outcome.

Those little flies put me in a bad mood when i saw them. If they still there tomamrwo im going to remove all plants from grow tent and sterilize the whole tent with diluted rubbing alcohol, wipe it down, air it out, then i will try to loosen up some of the soil in the pots and see if any buggers come out, then i will douse them with the pesticide again. put em back in the tent and see what happens. ill let you know but i would suggest going to lowes and picking some of it up, its in the gardening section if you wonder around long enough you will see it. Was cheap for a whole bottle of it you only use like 15ml for a spray bottle of water. Peace

Do you remember how much it was at HD? i think i paid just a lil over $40 for it at the hydro store, it was cheaper online but i was at the store and it was in front of me so i bought it. Its funny cuz i am plugging it in to diff things at my house the cfl barley brings out a reading on the Kv/h meter. I plugged my space heater into it. (if any one is heating there grow room with a space heater, even a small cheep one is pulling at least 1000w at full strength) Mine pulls 1300-1500w at full strength and at half strength it goes down to like 500-600w

Will be useful for the grow room we will have that 1000w JD pumping and a 400w Revolt plus florescent in the tent and the aerocloner running with like 3 air pumps, some clamp on cfls, and not to mention the 2 industrial sized inline fans we have, but we got a sentinel environmental controller to keep everything in check, going to order a co2 regulator in the near future

If I remember correctly, now don't get mad, I'm just the messenger... it was 27.99... (as Astonr420 ducks from the flying Kill-A-Watt from ilikebike)

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

Quick update

new 8'' inline fan came in for the 2 6'' cool tubes we are going to be runnin in the new flower tent, i just plugged it in and tested it out with no ducting, thing will suck your hand in if you bring it to close, pushing 733CFM thats should be perfect because we have alot of runs, were going to run 6'' ducting and just run a 8'' to 6'' reducer off the fan. We will have some 6'' boosters along any turns or 'T' connections.

Im waiting on my sentinel environmental controller should be here by wensday and also waiting on my new JD Lighting 1000w Ballast that DigitalGrow was so kind to let me test out in return for doing a journal. As soon as that puppy gets here ill install it to the flower tent and test her out with plenty of pics.

Probably going to put the Lucy and the A-train in dirt today, been germinating for over 48 hrs

Ill have pics up soon.

My shopping list

-Commercial grade air pump
-Dual Micropore Air Stones
-Control Wizard Products 24/7 Nutrient,pH,Temp monitor
-sentinel co2 120v regulator

PEACE

re: BPN Closet Scrog Grow

thats what i thought but you need a pump with a drip line to give it nutrient water or something. If you go to the DWC section of these forums you will see my post that says 'Thinking about DWC' some one explains it in there also another person gave me a good picture of what you need ill try to find it, if i do ill come back and edit my post later

Picture Update!

Scrog Closet

Temp - 78 - 85 *F
Humidity - 15 - 30%
Ballast(s) Temp - 90*F
Watering/Nutes - 1/4 gal of BPN 3 Part Elite Transition Formula to each plant
Light Schedule - 12/12

Everything looks awesome in here, The plants are really liking the 2 hps bulbs they grew alot since Saturday morning. I kind of broke a stem when i was reworking a top, it didnt break off it just kinda split off the main stem so i put a small piece of tape to it so it will repair itself. I reworked alot of the tops, screen is already gettin pretty full, worse comes to worse ill try to raise the screen just a few inches to give me more room to work with, the screen is just wedged in the closet so if we kind of bang on it gently we should be able to raise it up. The way the scrog is shaped ended up working really good, the outer part of the screen is higher the the middle so it works really good for the dividing the light evenly. The plants look really healthy cant wait to see some buds, today marks 3 days since we changed the lights to 12/12.

(Sorry about pics i was using a crappy cam)

Veg Tent

Temp - 73 - 75*F
Humidity - 20 - 50%
Watering/Nutes - 8 - 12oz of BPN 3 Part Seedling Formula to each plant
Light Schedule - 18/16

Plants are looking good, Still noticing small white mites or something so we sprayed down the plants again with the pesticide, if the problem persist then im going to try and take more drastic measures (Does any one have any ideas?)

They are taking nicely to the bpn elite seedling formula, they also got a small bit of benny brew tea yesterday.

I started an LST on one of the plants, Using some thin yet sturdy wire i just poked it through the smart part and twisted it so it would stay in place then hooked it around the base of the stem, then i bent the plant over carefully and made a 'U' shape out of a small piece of wire, kind of looks like a staple, stuck it in the soil with the plant underneath it so it will hold it down.

I will continue to bring it till it grows to the edge of the pot, then i will start working it around the outer part of the pot, letting it grow up wards and in as it gets older. This is my first time trying LST so well see how it goes.

Germinating Seeds

Both A-Train and Lucy Seeds have both sprouted the tiniest little taproot so we figured we will leave it in the container till morning and then put it into a pre-soaked peat moss jiffy pod. I like the jiffy pods that are peat moss for this over the rapid rooters because peat moss is made for retaining water, so you only have to get the puck wet the initial time and it pretty much keeps the stuff moist enough for the seed to start growing. We will keep a close eye on it and mist it lightly if it drys up. Once it looks like it is starting to grow we will throw it in a pot with soil.

So we are feeding The tea Brew to all the plants right now, the scrog plants got about 1 cup each and the veg plants only got a taste. we will continue to feed them about twice a week with the brew because i do not want it to become stagnate and not work since it is not brewing anymore with an air stone, the package said to stop brewing after 24 hrs. Next time i make a batch i just wont use a whole packet

Still waiting on my 1000w JD Lighting Ballast should be here some time this week cant wait to take some pics and try it out!

Thanks for stopping by guys later!:thanks:
