Chef De Green Does It All: Reveg, Clones, Autos & Photos

Cool! I'll tag along for the ppm wisdom - that's how I like to feed - then I use fan leaf color as a visual feedback.

That’s exactly how I do it too. I always expect a fair bit of yellowing in the lower canopy, that’s why I don’t strip my plants all the way down. I can bump up the nutes until I see low down fan leaves looking happy.

I think we should stop using TDS(PPM) and only use EC. EC is a universal measurement, while TDS(PPM) can be measured on one of four different scales, depending on the region. These scales vary from EC in µS times 500 to 700, depending on which scale is used. When is the last time you saw a member with a problem specify which TDS scale they were using?

youre right, we really should stop using TDS. And for myself, I’ll definitely never buy a ppm pen again. If I need a new meter, I’ll definitely get an EC meter. The thing is, right now my TDS pen works just fine. I have no justification for buying something new if I’ve got something that works well enough. It’s very clear from how the TDS pen levels out, that it’s not super accurate. It is, however, accurate enough for me to get the results im looking for. For now, that’s good enough.

Hey everyone,
Before I do my update. I’d just like to say
RIP Kobe and Gianna Bryant
It’s a terrible tragedy. Although I’m not a big fan of sports, I recognize the loss of a tremendous talent and stand up guy. His daughter who was only 13 had only begun to live. I feel for the families who lost someone in the accident.

Alright, now down to business;

Flower Tent Day 27
Last day of week 4 and I’ve gotta say, winter has come. The CnC is looking frosty as hell. The trichomes go all the way out to cover the fan leaves. I like way my super cropped CnC looks, so I went ahead and did the other one. The NL has this sneaky kind of frost that just coats everything. She’s really sticky already, you can feel it between your fingers. That and her colas are stacking up perfectly. Shes going to yield heavy im thinking. The SP is also getting incredibly frosty. It’s just harder to tell from farther away because of the dark purple.

A word about how I’ve been feeding my girls

I think I’dialed in on how I’m going to finish these plants off. The CnCs have responded really well to 8.5g/gal of MC so I’ll keep them there. My last feed on the NL I gave her 850ppm of MC which was about 9.5g/gal. She’s responding better than I imagined, so I’ll keep her at that as well. I switched the SP to dyna-gro a couple of days ago. She seemed to be unhappy with the amount of N in the MC.dyna-gro has a low N and higher P. I think ive noticed some leaves near the top of the plant flattening out. We’ll see how it progresses over the next week.

I also moved up my CoB panel because i noticed some bleaching on two of the NL tops and one on the CnC.

anyways here they are

@beez0404 you win. Pomelo auto weighs in at 11g going into a jar.
Hay Chef I stopped getting notifications for your journal I will try to catch up after my appointment. Your plants look awesome I Love the green waxy looking leaves and the color

Sounds like a great idea - count me in!

Hey PC! It’s kinda weird but I’ve noticed that if you don’t respond to a subscribed thread once in a while, it stops notifying.

Thank you so much! I’m thrilled with this run so far. Hopefully I can keep it smooth sailing!

@DrCannaCanadian i like #clubEC, but I can’t say only cause I’ve still only got the TDS pen:laughtwo:

They are really packing on the frost. By the time they bulk up they should be frost monsters :thumb:
Hey PC! Thanks! Yeah if I can keep the ship upright til the end it’s gonna Be my best run yet I think.
Things look beautiful Chef! :drool:
Thanks Mr S! I’m really excited with this run. I feel like I’ve actually got a handle and an understanding on what I’m doing

DDa
Well, I decided to check the trichomes today, day 74. I seem to have lucked out and caught it just right. I don’t see a clear trichome anywhere.. and the amber ranges from 5-25% based on where you’re looking. I was figuring on day 80, but her water intake has really slowed.. and now the trichomes look done. So it’s time to chop!

Looks damn good to me. I harvest my DDA between 75 and 85 days as a rule. When I grew my first couple I followed the pack and harvested around day 100. But the more I looked at the flowers and the more the buds at 75 days were smoked I realized I was growing them 3 weeks longer then was necessary. I think you'll be happy with those flowers.

@beez0404 thanks! I remember you saying 85-90 days, so I wasn’t even going to check until 80. I just noticed her water intake slowed down a ton. So I figured I would check the trichomes. They looked great to me, so I popped her in the fridge. I’ll dry trim her later. She’s gone a bit gassy in her final days. She still smells heavily of mango though. I’m gonna do another one pretty quick I think.

Hey everyone,
you guys remember that exhale bag I showed back on Jan, 20? It’s molding up good, it should Be starting to produce some co2 now. By the time my girls are nearly ready to come down, it should be producing at full capacity.

Flower Tent Day 24 bloom (flip+34)
Everything is coming along reeeally nicely. Nice fattening up going on this week. We’re about a week and a half from the half way mark. I’ve got a total of 5.5-6.5 weeks left. The Sour Bubba is going to be ready to go as soon as there’s room.

That’s it for now, I leave it will a family shot

On your last photo of the NL plant was it just the lighting or were there a lot of orange/brown pistils? I ask only because the Sensi NL plant only runs about 49-56 days post flip. Your NL might not have as long to go as you're thinking. I'm gonna guess you'll be looking closely at her in 3 weeks

Yeah there are some orange hairs there, but they’re not that orange yet.
Ahh okay. That’s good to know. That also explains why she got a quicker move-on in flower. She seems a good week ahead of everything else. I know the SP and the CnC is 63-70 days so they’ll be in there quite a bit longer than the NL.

Oh yeah, Beez - the wife and I talked about it. Once this crop comes down I’m going to buy dry amendments and make the switch into organics. I’m really excited about it.

Well just bear in mind that for the best quality soil you'll want to let it cook for 6 weeks. So keep that figure in mind when determining when you're wanting to put your first plants into organic soil. My newest/latest batch of soil has been cooking now for 38 days so it has 4 days to go. That number of course isn't set in stone, but it does come from experienced and respected growers who have been growing organically for years. My Peyote Wi-Fi is in soil that only cooked for 4 weeks and is doing well. But who knows how much better it could be if I had waited those 2 more weeks?

I know that it has a lot to do with the temp your soil sits in, as well as how active your compost is. With very lively compost and warmer temps you might be able to get away with a shorter cook. Either way it won’t much matter. I’ve got 4 more girls I’m gonna run with dynagro or MC, so the soil will have 8-16 weeks to cook... if not more. Is your newest batch amended with your own list of ingredients? Or is it a premixed blend like tha Clackamas Coot mix? I’m going to be buying all my amendments and I’ll be following The Rev’s supernatural soil recipe from his book True Living organics 2.0. I’ll also be making spikes for going into flower.

Hay Chef everything is looking Great and congrats on the harvest. I Love the color :thumb:
Thanks PC! The Dark Devil smells incredible like mangos. Can’t wait to give her a smoke test

Hey everyone,

Ive Just got something real quick. I decided to go ahead and super crop the CnC 2 again! She was so tall, her up high buds were falling behind her buds at a good height from the light. The taller cola I almost couldn’t squeeze, she was just barely on this side of wood.

So I’m poking around 420 looking for something on minimal CO2 supplementation. Just trying to find someone who has upped their CO2 a bit. Not necessarily to the 1500ppm levels with a tank and reg, but just like a 5 gallon yeast bucket or some other DIY CO2. I stumble upon a link to an article at San Jose university about photosynthesis and how increases in the environmental CO2 affects plant growth in C3 and C4 plants.

What I find out in the article is that a mere 100% increase in ppm can have effects of up to 40% increase in total growth. What’s more interesting still is this bit I found about how increased CO2 makes the stomata open in a more narrow fashion.

With higher level of CO2 concentration in the air the stomata do not have to be open as wide. The narrower opening means that less water is transpired and thus less water is required by the plants. In other words, higher levels of CO2 increase the efficiency of water use by plants. This was confirmed in experiments reported by K.E. Idso and S.B. Idso. They found that enhanced CO2 increased growth by 31 percent in plants with adequate moisture but it increase growth by 62 percent for plants in moisture-stressed condition.

When I read this I had an “ah-ha!” moment. My plants have been staying wet for an extra couple of days now. Even the 1 gallon pot can go without water for 3 days. In a 1 gallon fabric pot, I figured she’d be thirsty daily... and before the exhale CO2 bag, she was. I’m going to have to adjust how much water I’m giving now, so that I can keep them in a balanced dry/wet cycle.

Another bit I found interesting;

The effect of enhanced CO2 is even greater for plants grown under low light conditions. The enhance growth is greater than 100 percent for a 100 percent increase in CO2. This compares to less than 50 percent for plants grown in normal light conditions.

Makes me think we should be guiding the newcomers who are starting in a closet with a blurple panel towards CO2 enhancement.
