I find an infused coconut oil a better match for many recipies. That's just my preference. I find it tastes better than butter and it's about the same price for organic. I use infused oils in the capsules, so using it in cooking as well means less work for me. One big batch of oil covers it all.
That sounds pretty appealing to me. Makes sense being able to have 1 big batch for both purposes. Is this recipe of yours floating around one of your threads by chance?
That sounds like it should be a decently potent batch. I don't have a magic butter machine or anything so is it still good to go with simmering on the stove like I would for making butter? Curious if there is a better method to do this for this as I haven't tried using olive or coconut oil before, only butter. I'm sure it's mostly the same process?
I do it all in the oven. Decarb in an oven roasting bag. Keeps the kitchen from smelling like weed when my kids friends come in. . Then tun the oven down to 200. Put meds, oil, and lecithin into a big bowl and cook for 4 hours. I will open the oven and stir everything up when I think of it. Sometimes I will start the oil before I go to bed and set an alarm to get up at 2am. THen I just shut the oven off and strain everything in the morning.
Thanks Dave. I haven't tried the oven method before except for doing a decarb. So when you say you turn your oven down after the decarb, do you do the decarb at over 200? I always thought anything over 210F would start to boil off some of the cannabinoids. I'm certainly interested in trying new ways, would like to find one that works best for me I always used to simmer on the stove after a 20 minute decarb at about 200F
SweetSue! Thank you for your pix! After looking at Hubby's chromed shelves like yours, I think that is the route to go. I was at a Dollar store today, if I remember correctly there were some tarps, blue, green, and I'm remembering black, but could be wrong. What I save there would go towards the shelving unit. I'm gonna let hubby pick it out, he does better than I finding the best place to purchase.
I was thinking I may use (if I can find..) the "Space Blanket", mylar with reflective foil in it, as inside walls, under the tarp.... Dollar store didn't have them. Was looking for the kind you put in a First Aid Kit, or what they use to keep athletes warm after a race.
Once I put this together, I think it may suit as a full time veg tent. So far, I like the idea! I may have a couple four foot fluorescent bulbs laying around. I hope. We've been cleaning out the old house, getting it ready to sell. Lots of junk in the basement that has no use here in new house. Anything left will be sorted for recycle.
Good ideas here! Muchly Appreciated!

We have found (i believe from Skunk Labs) that 230 degrees for 110 minutes gets the most out of your decarb. I used to decarb for 40 minutes at 180 degrees. I would say my oils are at least twice as strong since I switched to the 110 minutes @ 230.

Thank you everyone for the great advice. Learn something new every day I will for sure be doing a longer decarb now and turn the heat up some. Maybe this is why my butter wasn't quite as potent as I'd like it this makes me happy like music to my ears!
I'm in for the quest also .
