CBD Joy: A Community Garden Experience

You could also purchase some black and white poly and a few small pieces of lumber and screws and make a small tent for time being. There are all sorts of ways to do it and you can make it whatever size you want to. I had to do the same thing when I first started.

I ran a Shark Shock CBD that finished about a month ago. It was one that I put into flow early to reduce my plant count an to find out how it smokes. It only amounted to about an ounce. It is a very mild high for a mostly Indica. It is very relaxing yet not sedating. I have taken to adding some to other strains I am consuming. It takes the edge off of hard hitting strains.

I took two cuttings that are around 8-10 inches now. I will post some pictures as they grow.

This is the harvested one in early flower.

I made the second page and am looking forward to seeing everyone's CBD plants along with their use of them. Like JPinkman, we're trying to germinate some Freedom Dreams right now with the hope that we get some viable female plants from them.

And, again like JPinkman, I much prefer a balanced THC:CBD ratio for my meds as I find the <1% THC strains just don't work as well for me. I recently made some canna-infused oil using a proprietary strain from my LP that essentially has no THC in it (<1%). I made the oil to treat myself for daytime anxiety but I don't think they're helping at all and now I kind of wished I hadn't made capsules with them because it would be easier to add another canna-infused oil made with a THC strain to the CBD oil but I seriously doubt I'm going to open all the capsules to add a THC oil. ☹️

I also use CBDs for rheumatoid arthritis pain. I'm currently on the lookout for a CBD strain that would work during the day as I find the indicas make me sleepy during the day. I've been buying the CBD Medi-Haze from my LP but am hoping that Crop King's Dutch Treat, which is one of the strains we'll be planting in our summer grow does the trick.

In the meantime, I'll just pull up a chair here and enjoy the new thread.

:passitleft:

Hash Girl, make some THC capsules and take one with the CBD caps. That way you get pain relief and inflammation control. Mara Gordon, who runs Aunt Zelda's, claims that when their patients take the CBD meds two hours apart from the THC meds you can reduce the doses of each. Together they form a powerhouse couple of therapy, but CBD appears to be an antagonist for the CB1 receptors, blocking the THC from attachment.

We have to keep in mind that all this is based on lab tests on animals and in petri dishes. There's a serious lack of information on how this all works within the human system. In many ways, we're attempting to work out what the labs haven't had access to. We are the lab rats as well as the citizen scientists. The fact that Aunt Zelda's has been able to control doses at lower levels using this directive makes it something worth considering.

In a case like yours I'd be inclined to start with the CBD dose. My reasoning is that this might give greater potential to the THC.

Another good one Sue will be watching for sure

:welcome: qaza. Jump in with comments whenever the spirit moves you. Are you growing any CBD strains yet? If not, planning on it?

Alrighty, looks everyone has gotten a good start to this thread. Woohoo!! :cheertwo:

Time for me to get in on the action, got busy over the last couple of days. So I will briefly go over some of my CBD plants and any of you can ask any questions from there if you'd like :)

The only CBD plant I have harvested to date was CropKings CBDream and I have another in flower now so lets start with that one.. These one's I did not journal so I lack pictures.
I found that this strain can be a very stretchy one even with the lights close, it is very hardy and I have had no issues with it ( aside from the stretching ) this far in. Buds form up very nicely, not super tight, but nice and compact. This is a 1:1 strain.

Here is the one I harvested almost 2 months ago.. Think this was a week or 2 pre-harvest (the one up front 1st pic, to the right 2nd pic.. Will get nug pics later)

Here is the one in the flower room right now. Both of these plants were topped and that is it, they definitely need to be trained down which I didn't do. This is 16 days into flower

Now.. I also have another CropKing strain in the flower tent, that is CB Dutch Treat. I had some issues the first time I tried to grow her out, they don't care for high heat, needs to be 25C or below it seemed. This is my 2nd attempt and this one was transferred from a hempy cup because of no growth, due to humidity.. And look at her now :)
SAM_4702.JPG
SAM_4703.JPG

And for my wee one's in the veg room I have a CBD Jam from Delicious Seeds and Purple-Orange CBD from Dinafem Seeds. CBD Jam has had reports of up to 13% CBD and THC between 4 and 6%, but, there are 2 phenos to this strain, one that carries a 1:1 ratio and one that has a 2:1 ratio of CBD:THC. Purple-Orange on the other hand has a bit lower CBD level of 10% but only 5% THC, so this is a claimed 2:1 ratio CBD:THC.
Lets have a look at these wee ones shall we, they are very vigorous growers at day 15 yesterday. (CBD Jam first, then Purple-Orange..

That does it for my collection so far. I will keep updating on these ones every once in a while to keep you all informed on anything new. I have found that these CBD strains grow a little quicker than the others so far, that's 1 nice thing about them.

Sue, I seen you liked JP's post about the Freedom Dream strain. I also have a whack load of these seeds, more than I need. I just haven't grown a bunch out to find a good mother plant as they are only regular seeds and not very stable at all. I would have to grow out about 20 of them to maybe find a good one. Maybe JP will get luck and do this for us to see :) I plan to use these for cremes and edibles for the wife in the future when I try my hand at more adventurous things lol. Oh, yes, back to what I was getting at... What part of the world are you in? Maybe you could get some of these if you're interested in them, private message me if you'd like :)

Nice collection of CBD strains Dick. :high-five: You've been a busy little camper, haven't you? :laughtwo: Love the looks of the CBD Dutch Treat. I think I have some of those seeds. The CBD Jam and Purple-Orange CBD really have my attention. Glad to have you along for this adventure. :hugs:

I have a Dutch Treat growing right now :) Just posted a couple pics of it above your post. I will let you know what I think when it's done!

Edit: And the CBDream I have harvested actually isn't to bad for during the day, I use it all day and mix in a joint of something else in between.

Are you administering cannabis by inhallation only Dick? If so, we need to talk about some capsules. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Hi All!

Good news and not good news (just not horrible news...)

Good news first! Squeee!

My Mars-Hydro lights came in! All excited! But may have to order one more... maybe another pair. But excited none-the-less!

Not so good news....

My tent is back-ordered for 2 months.... I'm on the "notify" list to get one as they come in. :::sigh:::

So, I need to figure out something to use in the mean time. I don't want to buy another tent, and really the heavy duty wire (chrome} shelving would suffice, but need them wider than hubby's 18 wide shelves. So, I'd be into it for $100 bucks, plus the silver mylar tarps and some how still maintain all the paramaters, humidity, temp, yada.

Not sure what to do... just knowing i need to get some seed, and get it germinated, growing... so I don't have to depend on the dispensary and their horrible prices.

Starting from ground up, with no accessories is expensive. But going to the dispensary is cuckoo, which I will have to do until I get a harvest...

:::sigh:::

:green_heart:

P.S. Any thoughts, ideas, are very, very welcome... I gotta keep the costs down for make shift tent! BTW, I'm doing hydro, so the big barrels and recycle nutes reservoir are out side the tent anyway... Thanks in advance!

Dory

This was my solution to the dilemma you face Dory. I needed more space for the two 7-gallon pots that would need another month of vegging before flipping. Prior to their transplanting into the finish pots the plants were in 1-gallon pots and were growing off to the sides of my tiny closet. I can't fit 7-gallon pots into that limited space without relocating the DDAs, and the closet is their designated growing space.

What I have is an 18" wide wire shelf and some T5 lights. So I improvised. Remember, that first two months your space needs will be less than you'll need when you flip and they have to be in bigger pots. You start either in 1-gallon pots or in solo cups that are transplanted into larger pots, typically 1-gallons, to get the best start on root ball development. This means you may be able to get away with something this size for the first month or so, while you wait for the tent to be delivered. It'll take you time to get the seeds anyway, that's at least two weeks, if not longer to get them delivered.

IMG_632210.JPG

I have black blackout curtains that could replace these green ones that don't really block the light, but in veg this isn't the concern that it is in flower. I veg 20/4 in a closet with no door on it, sitting right next to a window. My plants don't care about the lighting, as long as there's lots of it,until I get to flowering.

IMG_63239.JPG

IMG_632411.JPG

I getto-rigged it to give me more space front to back. It simply done with bamboo sticks, a curtain rod, some Velcro strips to hold everything in place and wooden clothes pins to hold the curtain on. This space is for vegging. The openness of the arrangement lets heat rise right out of the grow space and keeps everything cool, except the room, but I have air conditioning to handle excess heat.

IMG_632512.JPG

It's not much to look at, but I used this same arrangement in a room that could be darkened to run a shelf of clones to harvest. It works, and sometimes that's all we need to be concerned about. When your tent is delivered you simply move everything into it.

Thanks Sue, yes I am usually pretty busy. Things will be setup more perpetual very soon :)

You have some Dutch treat seeds you mean? Or the freedom dream? Can't wait to see Dutch tream bloom out but am really interested in the jam and purple orange as well!

Are you administering cannabis by inhallation only Dick? If so, we need to talk about some capsules. :cheesygrinsmiley:

Mostly yes, I do have a cookie here and there or some candies, and have had some capsules before but this all from dispensaries. Been a while since I have made my own butter for edibles but would like to get back into it once I have a more steady supply.

Interesting idea, Sue, thank you.

I actually already take 1 balanced THC:CBD capsule for pain when I get up in the morning and then a couple hours later the CBD capsule. Are you saying I should reverse them?

Or are you saying I should make some THC only (or mostly only) capsules? I suppose if it was an indica, I could do that but I still might get high as my experiments with the Hash Plant oil showed. :laughtwo:

The main problem I see with this is that I take the balanced capsule when I wake up for pain and I take the CBD dominant capsule before I leave for work. If I do it in reverse, I'll have to live with the pain until just before I leave for work. I mean I could do it but it wouldn't be my first option.

Go with your gut and stick with what works for you. Cannabis is so individual in its expression that we can really only give guidelines. You need the pain relief. This protocol idea of spacing the doses by cannabinoid dominance doesn't mean the components are isolated, because we encourage whole plant medicinal formulations, so there will usually be some of each component. These Freedom ones, and I believe there's another similar strain whose name eludes me at the moment making its way around the US, will give us better control of ratios when dealing with specialized conditions like seizure disorders and cancer. They're a new player.

From what you describe you already split the major cannabinoid doses in a way that's working for you. Stick with that plan. :battingeyelashes:

I find an infused coconut oil a better match for many recipies. That's just my preference. I find it tastes better than butter and it's about the same price for organic. I use infused oils in the capsules, so using it in cooking as well means less work for me. One big batch of oil covers it all. :cheesygrinsmiley:

These are my current choices for CBD strains.

IMG_633011.JPG

The Advanced Female Seeds is 10 CBD Mass, their version of CBD Critical Mass. The Industrial Plant Auto has been my biggest frustration. Started with five seeds and I'm down to one. Not a single sprout so far. I could use that one too. It'd be good vaping meds for the daughter. Now I'm paranoid to try, but there's only one seed left, so sometime this year I'll try again.

In a small space there's only so much you can grow. Anyone else dream of a greenhouse or a barn? :laughtwo:

1st I want to thank everyone who has helped me here in the last 9 weeks. That said I want to apologies as well in advance...LOL... I'm a Scorpio, so I dive in head 1st in everything I'm passionate about and my new Passion , Medical Mota and specifically CBD strains. So if I ramble on and on and on and on and on... again, I'm sorry 

I also want to thank SweetSue specifically.... She has inspired me, with her epic threads, to just, well, Be Me

A quick tidbit on me. I recently got my Medical Marijuana Card. I used to smoke a lot as a youngster as well as dabble at growing. That said after 20yrs of "I'll Lose My Job If I Smoke" I had anxiety and paranoia smoking in the last few years after I stopped working. I am not a social smoker, all my smoking is at home, camping or backpacking. I mainly started again to assist in my Pain, Motivation, as well as slowing down my Beer drinking, I don't usually drink when I smoke.
I started with some Sativa Strains for Motivation, most have a lower THC and some have a 5% or so CBD. I found some gave me an intense anxiety, which I understand now is normal for some sativa. Funny thing I found out the Higher THC Indica really didn't give me the anxiety as I had assumed the THC would do. I haven't tried combining the Sativa with Indica for a nice combo of the two, well besides some Hybrids I have tried, I'll be working on that soon.

As I started researching CBD vs THC strains I really learned a lot. I have chronic back pain and sleep issues, as well as motivational issues. I started trying some strains at the local dispensaries. Here are a few key strains I tried and how I felt about them

Kilimanjaro ---Sativa, Very Motivational High but also High Anxiety/Paranoia. Liked it but anxious high
Arianna--- Local CBD Strain. 6.3% THC, 6.8%CBD , originally my top contender. No Anxiety and motivational as well.
Platinum Purple Kush--- Tried this after I started my Purple Kush. That's when I found I like the Indica's Buzz and pain relief
Strawberry Cough.. Really Liked this.. Sativa.. Not as much anxiety, good energy, very tasty
Also Tried, Tangie, Purple Monkey Butt, Citrus Sapp, Bubble Gum, Girls Scout Cookies, Animal Cookies.. and Im sure 4 or 5 others...

Then I discovered ACDC... I started looking at CBD vs THC and what it does as well as Dominant strains. Unfortunately I found ACDC after I had already placed my 2nd Seed Order which was all Auto's and heavy on CBD strains, I'll talk about those later. I saw that ACDC was a 20/1 CBD/THC strain. It averages from 16-20% CBD and .42-1.2% THC....
So I got my 1st try of it Locally.. Absolutely LOVED it!!! Yes it is a Sativa Dom strain, but it's the higher THC in Sativa strains ive tried , I assume, that gives me anxiety/paranoia. Now they do say the top Side Effect is Anxiety, but I haven't experienced that at all. As I say that, well, I found a 2nd dispensary with it, well there are 5 actually, so I decided to try theirs as well. Ya... didn't like it as much. I got pretty high, not really anxious, but I was high and the original ACDC I barly got a buzz, which is what I liked. Ill still experiment with the 2nd strain more for sure.

This brings us to Today... well Kinda....

I started with 2 Tents. One 4x4x6'6" and one closet 2x4x5'6". Plan was Big tent for Flower.. small tent for Veg... Kinda worked that way. Today I have 3 Purple Kush and 3 CBDutch Treat in 2nd week of Flower in Big Tent. In the small tent I have all Auto's. I have 2 Dark Devils, a White Widow (thinking she is NOT an Auto), a Girls scout cookie, a CBD Tangilo Rapido, CBD Pakistan Ryder and a CBD Siberian Haze.
That's currently 4 CBD strains growing as I type this, but that will change soon...lol

Lets Talk about the CBD strains I have growing Now, cuz I know yer chomping at the bit ta find out about em all

CBDutch Treat, it's an Auto, Sativa Dom, 8%/4% CBD/THC. Nice to see a few of us growing this now, cant wait to see what we all think about it
Tangilo Rapido, Sativa Dom, they say High THC at 12-15% and a High CBD but no %
Pakistan Ryder , Indica, Excited for this one, 20% THC, and High CBD but no %
Siberian Haze, 50% Sativa, 40% Indica and 10% Ruderalis, says High THC/CBD but no %

Now as of 4 days ago..I received my 3rd seed order, All CBD strains besides all the free seeds..LOL. I have 2 of the High CBD Strains that I started to germinate yesterday, and went into Dirt today
Candida, Indica Dom/Sativa CBD level of 11%-20% and THC never above 1%. This is a cross of ACDC and Harlequin
Green Doc, Sativa Dom CBD 16.9% to 10.2%, while its THC count ranged from 12% to 3.7%. This is a cross of Candida and a Haze strain

In the wings we also have Nightingale but just no room for her, Yet, she is very Similar to Candida, Indica Dom with very similar 20/1 CBD/THC ratio

Now for some Pics

My Dutch Treats, in 2nd week of flower and getting WAY TOO TALL...lol

Hoping to learn more about making Oils and topicals as well as Cooking Oils and Butters cooking is a big ZEN thing for me just like Backpacking, something about a campfire that just lets you release all yer stress and pains.

Im also wanting to learn when to harvest to increase the CBD in the plant

Hope I didn't put you all to sleep or bore the poop outa ya

Thanks for reading

I created a 36" x 36" shelving unit by placing one in front of the other, then wired them together for sturdiness. Both are on wheels so I can move them a bit to vacuum up dead leaves, dirt, and cat hair from the carpet! I used 2 of the rolling closets, which give me a 72" height for flower. When used for veg, I put thepots on crates, tables, whatever I have o get them close to the LEDs.

In your case, another $40 shelving unit will allow you to expand it to a depth of 36". A big white sheet covered by a dark sheet or blanket will serve for the cover. Use binder clips to attach to the top shelf, and leave the top open to vent heat.

Very cheap until you can afford better.

Very effective too. With some planning you can flower like that. It's not optimal, but it works.
