Cause She's A Brix House - Noob's OG Kush & Carnival In DBHBB

Duggan's right. I dunked a 10 gallon and a 7 gallon on my last setup. I do Callanetics, so I have a strong back. I needed it for that job. I'm only 5'5". :laughtwo:

I found something at the depot tonight that just might work. It's a round laundry tote. I will take pics next time I water. I think I will do 2 watering on top and 2 dunking if it works like I want it. I'm really concerned about too much run off. I need to figure something out because I don't have the floor space. :hugs::hugs::hugs:

Thank you Sue. I'm trying to figure out what I can dunk these in that won't require 10 gallons of water. I'm going to the depot tonight for some ideas. I honestly don't think I can do it that way because I don't have room for trays to catch runoff. Do they drip a lot when you soak them or do they hold the moisture pretty well? I have plastic under them but I can't have them dripping water everywhere on my hardwood floor. :)

Cheers Sue

I was given some suggestions about a container to dunk in a while ago.

You could use a pot the same size or one size bigger and line it with a plastic bag. Pour drench down the top until she is full, then drain. You'll have very little waste once you figure out how much your size pots drink. My small pots take exactly 3 cups water/drench.

Save your dehumidifier water if you can. I get about a gallon a day. It's all the water I need for my flower girl and 2 vegging girls. My next DIY project is hooking my 35 gallon rain barrel to the dehuey and installing an overflow drain from barrel through the floor. For now, I save the water in buckets.

Edit: Sorry, forgot you said you're using RO water now.

I'm big pots I don't dunk, I just top water. I give my 10 gallon pots about two gallons to drench and pull the water from the saucers if more than a centimeter collects. The green 18" saucers are fantastic and very sturdy. I would highly recommend them, they will last a long time due to their flexibility and thickness. Having 10-12 10 gallon pots lifting to drench is not an option lol. I have though about putting a 4mil contractor trash bag inside each saucer and using flexible plastic and Velcro. I would lift the bag around the fabric pot and then wrap a strip of flexible plastic around it (like those roll up plastic snow sleds) and then Velcro it tight around the trash bag and pot. That way you could drench and not use any excess water. But in the end watering from above has given me great results in flower. I just do it 1/2 gallon at a time to give it a chance to soak in before adding more water. 1/2 gallon poured on top of all plants, wait a few minutes and examine plant leaves etc, then another round of 1/2 gallon, etc.

Yeah, it was hard judging how much water they hold. These are the biggest pots I've ever used inside. My 3, 3 gallon pots use 2 gallons of water so I figure these 4 7 gallon pots should use a total of 6.2 gallons total, or 1.5 gallons each. That should leave just a little runoff. That is more than twice what my tank holds. I'm glad I got the pump to go with it to make the water come out a little faster. I will do an update of my RO filter system install this weekend sometime.

Until then, drink a Stella for me
Wish i had the room for one of those fancy RO systems...lucky you Noob. With my watering...putting out the cash for jugs of water is OK cuz that's my only real outlay of cash for my crops and in the end is very worth the extra $$ knowing the water i use is H2O...nothing else! Cheers my brotha Noob! Have an awesome day would ya

If you watched me drench last run you noticed I set the pot in the tote with the drench measured out and then I very carefully and slowly dipped and poured until every bit of it was absorbed. So the reality was I did top drenching the hard way. How typical of me to take the more complicated path. :laughtwo: I suppose I enjoyed the challenge of moving all that weight around without wrenching anything out of place. It's a rediculous way to prove to myself that I'm strong and powerful. I won't be repeating that in future.

I like both of the suggestions put out by masonman and Shiggs. I'd be looking at those green saucers next time I'm out. Would your real estate accommodate them?

I found my 10 gallon drank 2 gallons in flower and the 7 gallon took just over a gallon and a half. Just a reference for you. I notice others hitting around those same marks.

Thanks for the pointers Shigg. You gave me an idea concerning my lack of floor space and not being able to put saucers under the pots.

I'm glad you got to me before I ruined this great soil that I've been cooking with nasty tap water. I got a good deal on the RO system so I figured why the hell not?
Enjoy your weekend with your boys Duggs. Cheers

I appreciate your post mason. Yeah, I don't need a dehumidifier where I'm at. I may be in Washington, but I'm in the dry part of the state. My humidity doesn't get near 40%. That's probably bad but the plants don't seem to mind.

My calculations say around a gallon and a half per pot but you know how these plants like to keep us on our toes, Sue. Always love seeing your joyful presence in my garden.

I think I'm going to try to find some plastic bags to set the pots in to catch runoff. It might end up being a pain in the butt, but I think it could work. Thanks Shiggity and Mason for the inspiration. You guys rock. I really appreciate all the help and encouragement of this community. It always picks me up when I need a boost. Keep it up guys!

Thanks for checking it out

Cheers everyone!!!

I like that plastic bag idea too. You'll be using construction-grade? You watch, you'll figure out how to make it work almost effortlessly and start a small closet/tent revolution. :laughtwo:

UPDATE

No pictures tonight. Just some observations and training.
When I opened the closet door, I hadn't seen the OG Kush or Carnivals in 24 hours. What a sight. I have seen the pictures with the leaves reaching up looking happy. That's what I saw when I opened the door. They looked so happy. Then I started cutting their heads off.

I topped all 4 of the girls. I think there was somewhere around 36 tops total. They did not look happy when I closed the door this afternoon. But, when I opened the door again this evening, they looked like nothing happened except for the visible wounds from the beheadings.

I hope everyone has a great weekend.

Cheers

Sheesh, where was I a week ago when you fired up this journal? :hmmmm:

I'm sorry I'm so late! And especially for a Carnival grow in Doc's Kit!

I'm honored to have you here Graytail. With Duggan as my guide and the rest of this community helping out, I'm sure I will do you proud. I'm glad to have a Carnival expert around to give me some advice as well.

Cheers Graytail
