..and dont have much opened or odiferous foods in fridge..

I haven't tried Limburger flavored weed...

Yeah, I don't have a frost free fridge. I'm gonna have to do it the old fashioned way. I'm in a low humidity area so I have to make sure they don't get too dry or dry too fast. I'm thinking of going straight in the jars after 3 days and trying to control humidity that way. I normally put them in brown paper bags after hanging, then in the jars. I'm so scared of losing the taste and smell.

I have a test nug drying right now to try in the vapir rise 2.0. I'm counting down the hours until I can taste what I've been reading about for almost a year.

Cheers buddy

We're all smiling because those of us who've harvested HB buds know what's ahead for you. :laughtwo: I wouldn't be concerned so much with the loss of smell and taste. What you've just harvested is cannabis in another class from anything you've encountered up to now. I'd bet you have a better terpene expression than you expect you have.

I can't wait to hear your smoke report. :slide:

Good evening, by the way. :hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs::hugs:

During my sub-freezing winters there's rarely any unfrozen humidity available anywhere, so I've had the flash-drying issue too. I had 'em go totally crispy on the outside and was really worried about it, but I carefully stripped the stems and jarred the buds with a couple Bovedas and within a day the terpenes came exploding back. :slide: In the end, it was one of my best cures - it held very well after that. I wouldn't recommend it, because it flies in the face of what we know about terpene degradation, but the point is that the Bovedas will stabilize the RH very well. The insides of the nugs are still moist anyway - it's just the outside that dries too fast.

I've gotten into the habit now of keeping Bovedas in varying stages of dryness/plumpness. If I have a dry jar, I swap a nice plump one into it. If I have a moist jar, I vent it for awhile and then put a thinner drier Boveda in it. :cheesygrinsmiley: You might consider leaving a couple out to let them dry out a bit. And you can plump them up by leaving them in a dish or glass of water overnight. The small ones hold 1/4 ounce of moisture - the difference in their weight between very plump and dried hard. :thedoubletake:

:bongrip:

Noob, ya those Carns will be bulking up large about now....I'm VERY curious to see the OGK, when ya take her. Try and get a good comparison between this (late) one and the early one OK...it will give you a very good idea of what I was talking about with flavors and weights....would like to know how you feel about the two. Cheers my friend. MAAAAANNNN your garden looks like heaven....Yeepa, Yeepa!:high-five::bravo::cheertwo::goodjob::surf:
As far as your buds loosing their taste....don't worry...they WON'T! Just remember what I said in my PM bud! They will be fine. Cheers eh!

That's why I'm staying on top of this drying and curing thing. I want to experience the whole shebang. I can't wait to vape this so I can compare the highs I get from my first harvest. I have a feeling that weed will be turned into hash or bho.

That was a great commercial for Boveda Graytail.
Seriously, thank you for the idea. I have some Boveda packs in various stages as well. Does putting the harder packs in with the moist jars rehydrate the pack? I would assume it would.

The whole reason for my fear is my first harvest had the hay smell that we all hate. I don't want to have that experience again. I have a lot of pot that I'm not excited about smoking. (From my last harvest).
Now that I have some primo ganja, I want to keep it that way.

I appreciate your help. Means a lot.

Cheers Graytail

The difference in the nugs of the OGK is night and day. These nugs look like they are packing nugs on top of bigger nugs. Wait until you see.

The Carns and the OGK got a Growth Energy drench and a Brix spray this morning. I usually spray at night, which is the plants morning, but I have been going to be much earlier and I can't do anything until I wake up. I will have to remedy that for my next grow. Go back to 10-10 again.

I plan on taking the OGK this weekend. She isn't taking water like the Carns are. The pistils are receded. She's ready. But I want to push her a little more. Usually, I just give a plain RO water next watering. Any suggestions for the last water for the OGK before I chop her? Or should I just take it that day?

Thanks for all of your help duggan. I would have made this a lot harder for myself if it weren't for you.

Cheers

You'll have primo ganja from now own. Gift the other away and make a friend for life. :laughtwo: Better yet, turn it into capsules. Make it work better for you. As edibles it'll carry longer. Then you can give it away and make better capsules.

:hugs::hugs::hugs:

I'm really excited to make some edibles for my lady. She needs them bad. I'm going to have to steal your brownie recipe to try for her.

Hey guys. Well I managed to Noob up another harvest it seems. I just can't get the drying and curing down. I have 3 more plants to harvest. I want to make sure I do this right this time.

Here is what I did so you guys can correct me.
I trimmed the fan leaves off of the buds and washed them
I hung them in a dark closet with my exhaust fan on.
I waited until they were crispy on the outside and still a bit moist on the inside before cutting the buds and putting them in jars. I left the jars lids off the first night. I came in the next morning and they were a bit crispy on top. I loosened the buds up that were sticking together and placed lids on the jars. I check them every few hours and either replace the lids or leave them off depending on the moisture level.
I did place them in paper bags for a night because I thought they were still too moist for the jars. When I opened the bags the next morning, no smell. They were still a bit moist though. I panicked and put them all back in the jars because there was a bit of smell left when you open a bud.

They are back in jars now with the lids on.

Don't get me wrong, it smokes great. It taste a bit earthy.

I am great full for any advice and or criticisms.

Cheers

Noob...your golden bud ...don't worry OK. The smell your talking about that they supposedly lost , they didn't . it's just that they dry from the outside/ in when out in the air, and when they are sealed up in a jar , they dry from the inside /out. That's why they always seem wetter after a day or so of first putting them in there. The deep moisture is coming out to the surface of the buds ...AKA curing process has begun! Keep doing it this way . After a few days you can leave the lids on , longer and longer. You will soon find the buds have a more consistent dryness feel to them . know what i mean. Don't worry , you didn't mess up Noob. When i dry buds ...every single time it goes just as you say ...but as soon as you handle the buds and break a few glands open , that "coveted" smell your so worried about BANG comes right back to ya. Have you ever got weed and it smelled , just OK , but as soon as you break open a bud...everyone in the room looks over at you....that's how your produce will be...perfect!:thumb::Namaste::high-five:
Noob , a lil tip for your jars. Don't feel you have to move the buds around in the jars OK. Your opening them up often...that will exchange the moist air in them ...after a week or so , all you gotta do is burp them to get rid of that moist air...right now you may wanna leave the lids off for hours at a time, that's OK. Cheers bud.
