Yes I did wash them. I only used two buckets though.

Noob...your golden bud ...don't worry OK. The smell your talking about that they supposedly lost , they didn't . it's just that they dry from the outside/ in when out in the air, and when they are sealed up in a jar , they dry from the inside /out. That's why they always seem wetter after a day or so of first putting them in there. The deep moisture is coming out to the surface of the buds ...AKA curing process has begun! Keep doing it this way . After a few days you can leave the lids on , longer and longer. You will soon find the buds have a more consistent dryness feel to them . know what i mean. Don't worry , you didn't mess up Noob. When i dry buds ...every single time it goes just as you say ...but as soon as you handle the buds and break a few glands open , that "coveted" smell your so worried about BANG comes right back to ya. Have you ever got weed and it smelled , just OK , but as soon as you break open a bud...everyone in the room looks over at you....that's how your produce will be...perfect!
Noob , a lil tip for your jars. Don't feel you have to move the buds around in the jars OK. Your opening them up often...that will exchange the moist air in them ...after a week or so , all you gotta do is burp them to get rid of that moist air...right now you may wanna leave the lids off for hours at a time, that's OK. Cheers bud.
That's how I feel about our OG also. Not the greatest of smells but hits hard.OK. I just don't want the hay smell. That's what my other harvest smells like. It smokes good though. This OGK knocked me on my ass last night. It may not smell like I want it right now, but whoa, what a hit.
Thanks brotha

Here, try some noob
Good to know it could just be the genetics.
Make sure they're not too moist before they go in the jar. The bracts need to cleanly "snap" before I manicure and jar.
Sometimes taking them out for a few hours at 75 degrees and roughly 59% humidity will keep that wet-cure smell from happening.
If they were quite dry, continue burping as instructed. But I suspect you have a tendency to have them too moist based on what you've said about this and past harvests.
Noob, no worries ...i think you need a puff or two of some of that OGK....prolly eh!
Would you advise me to take them out of the jars and let them dry on a screen, then back in the jars. Or would you keep them in the jars and just burp more often?
Thanks Doc
No joke. I'm all paranoid over here. This OGK hits like a brick shit house. Hard to watch football when I'm blazed though.
Just wait for a proper dry and cure....watch out now!!!!
Wow great info on here guys.... I will only say that you will get more comfortable as you go. My recent Ww harvest I had only a 4 day dry because of low humidity and i know it will take a little longer cure to get best flavor but In the past it always gets it.. I just burp it more in the beginning to get rid of those gasses...

Anytime... I am a noob as well so anyone correct me...
But what I do...
I cut and trim all my fans and sugars off.. wash them if this run gets it... and then hang them... i run them hanging off to the side in my veg room under it's light schedule.. gas lantern... so they do get a mix of humidity due to the light fluctuation but .. if it is in the 40 range on humidity lights on i let it dry 4 days min. smaller buds can usually almost snap off stocks.. maybe a stringy or two barely holding them..
If the humidity is more like 50% percent then 5-6 days and if i can get that perfect 60 them a week is ideal. 60% I will jar it and it is even dried buds... anything less then I jar it early to let some of the moisture from inside those buds to even out some in the jars.. If I over dried i use boveda's. If it is early then I can usually tell the buds have become a little more solid and they leave a less amount of stinkier sap on my fingers but not wet anymore.. stickier less wet... I test drying stuff daily and it has good ventilation for me... Nothing ideal but because I run perpetual i am drying every other week and it helps me get a "feel" for it...
Ok to post all this rookie info amongst all these vets?
lol

... Bovedas.
There's no way a jar of buds is 1/4 ounce too moist. The difference between a very fat and moist Boveda and an average one is easily a couple grams. They'll pull moisture out of your buds as well as add it. They'll keep the pH at 62 - period. So feel the pack, and if it's plumper, swap in another one.
Dry a couple out if you think the jar is too moist. Don't dry them hard though, 'cause they won't work well that way - they have to be soft to wick up moisture.
The early cure and stabilization isn't that tricky. I've only had a couple go wrong and that was due to a dead strain ... and occasional carelessness.
