CatfishKnight's Grow Room: 420's MarsPro Cree128

Well I am taking off work this Friday to go to another town to get my 2 tanks filled with Co2. Then I will put a fully grown pepper plant in there to see if it survives first. Lol.

I am no expert by any stretch of the imagination but with those 3 lights, I am pretty sure MJ will have no issues growing in your grow room. Though I like that your not in a rush to get started and making sure you have all your ducks in a row 1st.

Haha noooooo I wanna see weed with colas the size of gatorade bottles all over

Before I put the good stuff in I want to make sure it works right. Lol

With a closed Grow Room with no outside air coming through I need the Co2 for the plants. :)

You produce Co2, get in there and start singing. Tell each plant the complete story of your life. Turn on that radio and do your cardio. Work it man, just work it:slide:
Funny you said that. I haven't turned on the Co2 yet, but the Co2 controller said that it was at around 800 ppm. But being in the room working it went up to around 1600 ppm... Lol.

Why do you think it is beneficial to talk to your plants? You did not really think they were concerned with how your life is going did you? :partyboy:
Now my plants on the other hand, they are always interested in how my day is going!

Looking great and I like your easy access, easy cleaning air-filtering system. :woohoo:

I have to say I like his whole set up, well thought out, not rushed, designed for the long run. Nice job all around, Though in a different thread I do recall hearing him say he was broke, had he saved all his money from those Co2 tanks and gear and just spent all day in with his plants doing cardio and singing to his plants he would not be so broke. Just a thought. And as for running out of Oxygen in there I have news for you, those plants your singing to will be producing more then enough oxygen for you. Maybe you can get the wife to bring you your dinners to the man cave so the Co2 levels do not drop during your feeding times. Just some thoughts from an old cheap bastard to your south. :goodjob:

TBH I'd be broke too running 2400 Watts of lights 18hrs/day. Just a very quick calc here, from the kwh alone (€0.12/kwh) this would be approx €200/month *extra* to my monthly bill. And it's already up the roof.

On the other hand, nothing is wrong with spending money on something you have a passion for. Growing, Computer parts, whatever. Better than spending money on other crap, IMHO.

I was just a little surprised that he spent so much on lights and this fancy room while he said he is new to growing, but let's be honest, everyone is jealous of his setup, aren't you too? I am for sure :) Him sitting there and singing to the plants....the thought is hilarious. I didn't come up with the idea yet to put speakers in my greenhouse...maybe I should put some in there and play some Bob Marley, to help 'em growing? :)

You are right Oldergrower, I am starting to sing. Lol...

Flexy I have been growing for about 2 years but with CFL only. So I decided to upgrade and try the Leds. I thought I read somewhere that someone said running one LED unit only raised their Electric bill around $20 per month. Uhmmm...

Hey Catfish

My LED uses about 410 watts. At 14.5 hrs a day and power rates here at about 14.5c per kwh, costs me about $25/month to run it

Thanks for letting me know. I was about running them around 80% also since 3 of them are so bright.

No worries mate :)

If you want to know what they are going to cost you, take the wattage they draw, multiply it by the hours run and divide by 1000. This will give you the kwh per day used, multiply this by the rate to pay to get the cost per day :)

Example: 500w draw X 18 hrs/day divided by 1000 = 9 kwh/day

9 kwh/day times the rate (14.5c/kwh here) = $1.305 per day to run :)

Watts are watts, if you have a simple Kill-o-watt meter you can get an exact figure what it will cost you per month, that and a current electric bill so you can see how much you are paying for your electricity in your area since each area is different. Set your lights to the setting you plan on using, for example, one of my LED can fixtures can adjust red blue or white spectrums from 0 to 100% and any percentage in between. Presently that one light pulls 325 watts at the wall. I run this light 12 hours on 12 hours off, so multiply 325 times 12 to get 3,900 watts per day. Now since they charge per kilowatt not watts you take the number 3,900 and divide this by 1,000 giving you 3.9 kw per day. Here in my area, the cost of electricity is .094 cents per KWH so multiply 3.9 by .094 which gives you your daily cost for that light at 0.366666 dollars per day. Now multiply this number by 30 to average the cost per month = $10.998 dollars per month

Each light will need to be done this way as all fans, pumps, dehumidifiers, heats or any other electrical devices. Now with fans, pumps and such, you will have to estimate what you think the actual run time will be for such items unless they are on a preset time schedule. Add those all up and you will know very close to what you can expect your electricity bill to be each month.
FYI you can pick up a kill-o-watt meter at your local big box hardware store, grow shop or online. Bet even one of the sponsors here on the site carry them. Though I bought mine before finding this sight, I asked my local grow shop and the guy told me to go to the big box hardware store to buy is because they could not compete with their prices, which I thought was super cool that he would do that to save me a few bucks. I think I payed like 19 bucks for mine.

LOL More then you wanted to know I am sure but what can I say, still on my 2nd cup of coffee.
