Carestaker's Chemdawg Crosses In Soil & Coco - 2016

Absolutely gorgeous CS!

That's upsetting to me about the FFOF. I've heard so many stories like that and the batches that are full of fly larvae. I've only used it once. Give Tupur Royal Gold a shot next time. Good stuff brother!

Thanks Doc! :thanks: I will definitely try the Tupur. This run was almost Tupur, but instead has 30% of their more heavily amended, Royal Gold Basement Mix Coco, in addition to the 50% FFOF, and 20% perlite. :Namaste:

Yeah I forgot lol. You're always in the know. The tupur might not be amended enough. I add the KIS nutrient pack so I'm never underamended lol. Your ladies are beautiful buy the way. :circle-of-love:

Thanks brother. :thanks: Sounds like you have a nice recipe, I might try that as well.

For me - So far so good. I'm ferting as if they were in 100% soil, so we will see what they do. They are not quite where I want them, but they are going in the right direction, and they are showings signs of improvement. The roots need some time and work I think, and I'm using old benes. Time for some fresh colonies I think. Everything else, should work itself out naturally :) :volcano-smiley:

Happy skunkdaze brother. You made not order any more ffof. I just got some Pete to mix with my old ffof.
the last bag I got come from Amazon and I do believe it was a perfect mix of fresh bark and fungus gnats. Took me a month to get rid of those pesky mo-fos. Thought maybe I had some bad luck. Then I read your post and went with the Pete. Plus I got 3cuft for $20 can't be that. Gonna mix it with my old ffof and amend it with some goodies and give of a go. Fingers crossed knocking on wood here we go.

UPDATE

OK, so I took these two days ago, but am just now making the time to post. I'm getting close to the flip, but I'm not pulling that trigger just yet. ;) The bigger two girls are drinking their pot dry in about 6 days. I've been letting them dry out at each watering, just to the point of flagging. I may find that with this new mix, that might not be the best method. After I flip, I'm going to water a bit more frequently, and so at lower PPM. I hoping also to get a measure from which to try to guess at the density of the root system. They are almost ready, just a bit more time to stack a few more nodes and push a few more roots.

The ECSDH is going to climb I'm thinking, the ChemDcookies is also looking like she's going to run tall. I think those two might take the back row, and I'll put the smaller 3 in the front row, or arrange the smallest in the center spot. That means I can flip them all together too, as I'll be planning on letting the big girls take a little extra space in the back, and the younger girls should be able to fit if flowered just a tad earlier than I would like. Plus, it's just easier.

They are all looking pretty good, if not perfectly fed. Most of these little darlings are a bit finicky in their own way. I still do not have them all figured out, but my impressions so far -- The only thing the really have in common is that they are all Chem and all very smelly divas. ;) Except maybe that SSD - she's easier than pie. Bubba likes a lower pH in this mix, high temps, high RH, and yet a low/moderate feed. ChemD wants N, but not too much P. I once thought BG was sensitive to Ca, but Knope, she likes it - she's just a brat.

Groups. First pic is top-left going clockwise: ChemDcookies, ECSDH, Buddha Tahoe, Bubba's Gift, SSD

ChemDcookies below. So dark and strong. Her and her sister ECSDH were tied up together, but have recently been released for good behavior.

ECSDH below, my love. She's got some polyploidal traits, and I'm sure her genetics tell a strange tale. Her growth is very vigorous, all the time, even when left to dry. You can see a couple of examples of whorled phyllotaxy if you look close. There is one where are four branches and four petioles coming out of the same node/level of the stem. That same main branch is now creating a triwhorled top with three branches and leafs.

I should have taken more pics of her, and you can't really tell in pics, but she's looking exotic, with this dark color and texture to her leafs. I hear she won't really stretch, so she might need a step stool to hang with these wild chicks. Sorry bad angle, don't get seasick .. holy cow I got dizzy trying to figure who this one was.

Buddha Tahoe. I love the smell of this one. She's got the dog poo skunk dankweed smell and it get's everywhere ... it's like smoke.

SSD.jpg

SSD below, she's a peach. Only real easy plant in the bunch, but maybe it's me changing everything up too. She's got some stretch to her, might be a preflower response - we will see. I love her color right now. So many shades of green.

Peace and love! Got my filter set up thankfully, it was getting a bit nutty in here. These are all high stink ladies, and it's going to get hot in may for harvest. I'm going to have to kill some skunks down the street to blame it on.

Wow! Congrats on the ECSDH. Those are extremely rare and like gold when you find them. I'm getting excited for you brother. All your plants are very healthy and some are looking a little waxy. Sure sign of high brix. Looks like you've got everything under control here Carestaker. Master grower with killer genetics = happy patients.:thumb:

That's the exact reason I ended up finding PJ soil mix and mixing up my own soil... FF and the friggin gnats were driving me crazy......:circle-of-love:

I swear I have a few now in winter..I'm like nahh - and they're like - yeaaah. :circle-of-love:

That's the beauty of it my friend. Always seems to work itself out when you have a solid foundation. :high-five:

:high-five: Let's hope for no whammies.

I have had so many, I can now catch a flying gnat - with just a single chopstick.

Dude, 20 bucks is a great deal on that. :thumb:

I'm also pretty excited for the ECSDH. She's stacking pretty tight right now. I hope she's a good pheno, she sure grows nicely. I think she's a low/moderate feeder, so I'll try not to give her the claw. Her leafs say that she should take a low feed without trouble though. I'm guessing high Calcium too, as she's got Haze in her.
Thanks for the kind words Doc. :thanks: I still have so much to learn, but I hope to be lucky enough to have a few masterful plants here and there.

I'm going to be the happiest patient of all my friend. :Namaste:

They look fantastic. Some very noticeable growth since your last update. You can see they are hitting their stride now.

Amazing looking plants CS, a lot bigger than the last time i checked in, such healthy happy girls :circle-of-love:
:thanks: Feral, I'm hoping they stay happy and stink like..:hippy:

They are finally hooked up - took forever! :partyboy:

Veg at its perfection CS....damn nice plants. Do you "tailor" your feeding by each plant's individual requirements? That even sounds like lots of work, but would obviously be the best approach. I feed all the same & the light feeders usually suffer from it. While I know that your mix is only part coco, coco doesn't like to get fully dried out & no worries about root rot or other heavy watering effects since it drains so well. Plus coco always retains at least 25% residual O2 no matter what. My more recent "heavy watering" coco grows have been the best. A master grower friend has told me this all along. I've learned that he's always correct, but I still experimented & have since confirmed all his coco tips are very effective.

Thanks BL. :Namaste: I hand water them, so I tailor it to each plant. I'm shorting the ECSDH and the BGift on nutrient right now, in comparison to the others. I don't vary that much, but you know when some are hungrier than others, or have different needs.

Your coco plants have been grown perfectly, when I try a coco run, I'll be stalking you more than usual. :) For my take on the 50/30/20 mix I'm using, I think I'm missing an opportunity to push them a little, by not watering and nuting in lower volumes, but more frequently. I'm OK with that, I can be patient, and they seem to be doing well enough in a less is more kind of way ;)

I wonder if watering coco everyday would be that much more work than doing what I'm doing now... :hmmmm:

Dang CS! Nice update. Plants are on point! Sure looks like you have them all figured out. Lovin them all but the ChemDcookies makes me gush. Beautiful brother.

Aww shucks lol, thanks man. She's got an exceptionally dark look to her. Nice cupped leafs, strong stems. She's a smelly girl too, in the good way. :hippy: I don't think she'll get a shine, her leafs have that matte satin finish to them. She's stretching in preflower right now. She's gained a couple inches in the past few days. I should flip them soon, they are about 16" or so from soil - and 18-21 is my target. Soon. I can't wait. :high-five:

UPDATE: Had to water BGift, SSD, and ChemDcookies today, so I took a couple of pics. I'll cut from 18hrs light to 16hrs today.

Feed today was 1 gal water - with 5ml Ca/Mg, 2ml B52 Vitamin, .5ml Protek, 5ml Voodoo bacteria, 10ml Bushdoctor fungi, 5ml molasses

They got sugar for the first time today, they should be ready to flip in a few days. I'll drop another couple hours of light in 2 days, then 12/12 on Monday. We're at about 18" from soil, maybe a little more.

I think Bapple was interested in this one too. I'm liking what I'm seeing so far from a friends grow. Here is a tester bud of 707Truthband pulled at day 49 flower. This one's a little whispy, but it was a straggle-branch. Nice frost and color though. Her larger nugs are stunning, and super dense. Testing is ongoing ;)

Hey Carestaker, the girls are growing up beautifully. I'm getting antsy watching. I can only imagine what they're going to do in flower. Great growing my friend!
