Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

I wonder if soil quality is as important with Mega Crop,as it is with other nute regimens?

I think substrate quality matters no matter what.

I'd say "to a point". There really isn't much special about our soil-less mixes. No real nutrition to speak of other than some calcium and magnesium from the lime used to buffer the pH. Does it hold the plant up? Does it drain well? Does it not compact so the roots can spread easily? After that your fertilizer provides all the nutrition.

I'm happy with the cheap Black Magic soil that I use-once I get rid of the complimentary soil gnats that come with it, it seems to work well...
But I've never used it with anything but Mega Crop.

Lol, after seeing Professor grow in the sand from his back yard, I’m thinking this plant is a weed and will grow well in many substrates, or bathroom drains even!! o_O
Black gold is the soil I used in my first grow. Although it was a coco/soil blend. Same thing with the gnats, but I had good results. :thumb:

I'll see your flowering nutes and raise you two Remo Nutes Supercharged kits, 10 10gal geopots, a magical butter machine, two manifold kits, and 2.5 gallons of Terpinator.
The majority of those things, you won fair and square. But I see what you did there, were all a bunch of cheap asses here!

Hey y’all,

you can send me any of your nutes and geopots... I’ll pay you double what you paid! ;)
Is this a, Send to (this) address, and wait for the money to show up?

Should I hold my breath?

Most of the stuff, you will be paying double, free! Hell of a deal! Hahaha

I see the problem here... your ratios are way out of whack.

If only I could make an Excel spreadsheet that would calculate how to keep other more pressing projects from getting in the way of the Chevelle project, I'd be all set.

the Chevelle project

That Chevelle is appreciating in value every day,so the longer it sits, the more it's worth...
So it's in your best interest to put off the restoration for as long as you can...
It may feel like procrastination, but it's actually a shrewd marketing move... :)

If I ever get the front suspension back on it, it needs carpet, a headliner, front seat cover, and the body refreshed (last restoration is 27 years ago). Probably need to sink about $5,000 into it but it will be worth $25,000 when it's back in shape.

Here's a tip to pass on...
I made a deal with my wife early on. I'd fix whatever I could, and be allowed to spend half of what the labour cost would have been to upgrade my tools.

I stopped collecting many years ago. All my tools are good quality, with a chosen few being exceptional.
nice logic Salt. Sadly Mrs GG is very canny now and knows all my angles. repair it and leaves her money for nails and clothes.!! I have een a mechanic in a previous decade it feels like and you never run out of "friends" when you can fix an engine. lol

The way I did it for these last two,is to top them as soon as you can get the clippers between the third and fourth node-around 12 days old-then the next day, shave off node#1,that leaves you nodes 2 & 3 to work with. As soon as you've got enough branch to tie down (day 16,apx.),start the quad training.
About 5 days into the training, you'll start seeing pistils, and flowering will start...ignore the flowers and keep training as if she were a photo...now she's stretching too,so the branches are nice and flexible-but they don't stay that way for long, so you've got to stay on top of it till you decide to let her go vertical- about a week and a half into vertical growth,if any branches want to be "too tall" you'll need to bend these horizontal (supercrop) to keep the canopy as even as possible -if the plant cooperates, you'll get a plant like the Purple Punch-If it doesn't like the training, you'll get a plant that looks like the one I just harvested...not a bad result either way...
Now,this is just the way it worked for me-your results may vary...
I think the key is doing all this stuff early, because the clock is always ticking on these autos

They were only about 4" tall (but real flat) before I let them start growing upward.
bang on the money from my recent experience too mate. autos are fast as hell and catch em quickly is certainly the order of the day. seeing how quickly the flowers build is an education in itself compared to photos. I am impressed with the difference so far. how old is the girl in the picture dean. could still surprise you yet.

Thanks,GG - I was just checking your journal...man, you've got your hands full with
all those autos (which are all looking fantastic this morning!)

The best is yet to come with that one-that girl's just gettin' started...

Yes, the ladies get to know us, sometimes too well. This is something for the youngsters out there. You've got to get them while they haven't wised up to us yet.

Is that so different than VG growing with estrogen? ;)

I think substrate quality matters no matter what.
I used breastmilk and then a substitute when our youngest was weaned. had zero negatives with it at all. I wish I had been braver with the amount used alongside basic plagron nutes. No bad smells or otherwise as the milk never had time to sour or break down above the coco. .was my 1st grow on 420. After decades of farming in secret and alone . !!!! poor me. lol
