Carcass' $150 Low Budget Grow 2019

Are the leaves used up and yellow when they drop or do they fall off green?
They're bright yellow - as soon as the last hint of green dissappears, they fall off. For awhile, it was
about 15 leaves a day, now it's down to 2 or 3...so there might be a few left by harvest time... ;)

Enjoy Embrace the schlep.
Actually, inside is only about 10 feet from outside, so it's a short schlep....

She is still just workin it goooood!
3 more weeks of that, and she might end up a (personal) record breaker...
Amnesia and Chocodope are looking very lovely as well.
Thanks, Boo! And no sign of flowers on the Chocodope at day 20 is a real good thing...

Thanks, Trala!
I think our seedlings are the same age as mine and yours have leaped ahead of mine.

The Chocodope is the same age ,but the Amnesia is only ten days...actually, the Chocodope is just a smidge bigger than yours, and yours are going to catch up real soon :) -
How are yours doing today?

I think mine went 32 days….?
That would be real cool if this one did too...11 or 12 "extra" days would be sweet!
A lot can go on in 12 days, especially with an auto...

The "standard" 21 days isn't too bad...it's the ones that flower at 12 or 13 days that can
be a bit aggravating

I grew 2 CBD auto plants last grow that only resulted in little short stumpy single cola plants, I carried out no training.
Next time I grow autos, I will definitely train them in veg with the view to it helping to extend the vegging time, as this occurred the only other time I grew an auto which resulted in a bigger plant compared to a grow buddy who grew the same plant from the same seed batch on the same day without training and his flowered 2 weeks earlier and was smaller and yielded less.

Good evening, Stunger.

Could you please explain how training them increases their time in veg (and stops them from going into flower, presumably)?

:thanks:

Hey HG, I don't know what the botanical explanation is, but that was the effect I observed the single time I did it and I believe that it is something that others have found too. It can extend vegging to produce a bigger base for more buds.

There is or was a view, that training would be detrimental to train autos, but I think now, that it has been shown for many auto strains, that they can indeed be trained. Some folk have great success with topping autos, but I have only LST'd them so far. When I noticed that my LST'd auto was still not showing pistils long after my buddy's untrained plant, I surmised that the training was causing the plant to stay in veg mode for longer and delay it's switch into flowering.

Great looking colas on that IG. :thumb:
she gets schlepped inside at night- not only because it's cold out there, but also to try and keep the moths (and the resulting caterpillars) away.
In my experience, the moths/caterpillars don't show up until buds show up. I believe they are attracted to the scent.

I don't know if it's detrimental, but if they start to flower at the beginning of the training, you'd better hope for some substantial stretch or they never really get off the ground...

I never really thought about that, but you're right...I've never seen a caterpillar on a vegging plant, but I've seen plenty on a (stinky) flowering plant
glad to hear the sun is being more dependable.
And if it doesn't show up, there's always my old light, and the "ellipse of illumination" :)

I probably worded that wrong, but yes I understood that any training of autos should to be done in veg. No doubt there'll be some strains that aren't going to respond to training so well. But the LST trained Gorilla Glue auto that I grew, last year, yielded roughly 1/3 more than a full sister grown at the exactly the same time but not trained. However in saying that, when I trained the GGa, it at least wanted to grow, whereas the 2 CBD autos I grew this year, both grew like little stunted bottle brushes, I doubt that they would have been good candidates for training and because of that I didn't attempt to train them.
