What is the recipe you’re using?
Good morning,HH!
I use
@Preston9mm 's recipe,with a couple of differences.
Here's what I use:
1 - 3oz pkg regular (with sugar) Strawberry Jello
1- .6 oz pkg Sugar free Jello
2- pkg Knox Gelatine
1/8 cup Light corn syrup
3/8 cup water
1/2 cup infused coconut oil (or evoo or grapeseed oil)
Put all dry ingredients in a pan
Add the water/corn syrup & stir very well
Heat the mixture over med. heat (and keep stirring) till it just starts to bubble around the edges
mixture should be smooth, not grainy -if it's grainy, stir till it isn't...
Add the oil to the hot jello mix,and stir the oil in. (lots more stirring) Keep heating till it just starts to bubble around the edges.
*Now this next step is the important one to thoroughly blend in the oil, since it doesn't really want to mix with the water....
Remove from heat, and stir while letting it cool a bit-as it cools,it'll thicken a little-this helps it hold the oil in suspension so it doesn't just float to the top.
Now you need to move fairly fast,so it doesn't set up in the pan.
Have one of those silicone spatula thingys handy to scrape it out of the pan, then
pour the mix into your squirt bottle, (use a funnel-this shit's messy at this point) and fill your gummy molds, then stick them in the fridge for an hour or two.
There'll be a little bit of the mix that won't come out of the squirt bottle- probably about 2 gummies worth.
If you're in the mood to get high ,you can get it out of the bottle with a long handled spoon and eat it right now, or save it for later-it won't be pretty, but it
will be effective-
I keep mine in the fridge, but if you use evoo or grapeseed oil the freezer would be better- keeps them from getting oily- coconut oil gummies don't get oily (under 76F) so the fridge works for them.
I've got to credit
@BobbyZ with the freezer idea-the extra oil I use made my first batches pretty oily,
but I was also using Grapeseed oil early on....
The reason I refrigerate them is that ,if they're around for long, they can start to mold after a few weeks at room temp.
Mine aren't around for very long though...
One more thing- don't mix "Jolly Rancher" brand gelatine dessert with regular jello-I did, and had a whole batch that didn't set up- so I had 3 molds full of some the messiest goo I've ever had to deal with - too messy to even use,so I had to trash that batch.
Feel free to ask anything else about the process...I'm here all week/month/year...
