Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

A future outdoor grow for me?

I think......NOT

The leafhoppers are much fewer, the katydid larvae are fewer....just when I think I can relax a bit on inspecting my plants....I get the "cutworms" or whatever the heck this current round of critters is. I'm tired of taking pictures of bugs. They look like inchworms, brownish in color on most of them. They are very small, and they want to plant themselves smack into the buds.

Yesterday I pulled 5, this morning in the cold windy air I pulled 6. This is happening to lots of outdoor grows, so I'm certainly not alone in the battle. ;-)

I do not enjoy going out into the cold with my magnifiers on and freezing my bitty fingers looking for bugs to squish.

So, unless I've got some miscellaneous seeds that I don't give a rat about to just throw out there and let em' takes their chances in the elements, I'll be an indoor grower.

Low flyers making me nervous, bugs and critters of all kinds, building protective housing, wind......I don't have the patience anymore. Indoor growing is so much more relaxing and controllable.

:lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke::lot-o-toke:

Rant over....I need some coffee to warm me up. LOL

Okay, Peejay. Still thinking on the Scrog. I am hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas day at my house this year, so the plan was to put the girls in the basement for that one day so they can't be seen by nosy relatives. I was going to put some house plants and pots with soil in them under the lights for any "peekers" to think that I am growing cooking herbs and miscellaneous plants for the spring planting.

So, if I put a Scrog in place that is going to make it very hard to move when I need to. It's not out of the question yet, just thinking on it.

I will be giving the girls the haircut on Saturday, I want to be sure I have enough time to do it properly. :)

Sue,
Thanks for popping in!

I don't have a clue how long a time lapse would take. I want to get the regrowth and results from the plant after the defoliation, which will take time. It should be cool to watch when it's ready.

I feel your frustration, Canna. I'll betcha come January you'll start looking for old windows and doors to construct a cute re-purposed materials greenhouse though.

;)

I wish that they'd get that glitch with the "likes" thing fixed. Is it still doing the same thing for everyone else?

Thanksgiving is still 8 weeks away. The way those plants are growing I'm not sure moving them to the basement is going to be an option! Do you really think you'll be able to get them down the stairwell?

Wow, you mean only 8 wks away. Time sure flies when we get old.

The stairwell from the garage is pretty wide and tall, but just in case, my back up option was the barn for a day.

Trying to get my sis-in-law to host at least Thanksgiving because she is recently retired and wouldn't have to worry about getting things done that week and juggling work. It's been 5 years since she hosted....so it's time. LOL
If that happens, I can relax. :)

The wind gusts are NOT playing well with others today. I had to put taller stakes in the screen house girls and two of the wildlings due to the major bending. The screen house girls have not been out in the open wind, the screen knocked a lot of that down. I worry that they just aren't strong enough for this.

{to the tune of Sonny and Cher's "The Beat Goes On"}.........

"And the grows on...."

I finally found it! I KNEW I had posted this somewhere, it was on RSOiler's blog. I failed to put it on my own. LOL

This is for Shawnee....it's really cute and I knew you were fascinated with Trichomes:

I saw this video on GreatLife4all's thread, I thought it was too cute to pass up and gives us really clear examples of trichomes:

Duh......hellllp Mr. Wizard!

These plants are just exploding. It's awesome. :)

I hung the defective Smart grow lamp until I know if I'm sending it back, and the WW x MK has it all to herself because she is so wide. The lamp is almost 4' and so is the width of the plant so far:

I shifted the rest of the girls so they have more room, and it's still tight in there. LOL

I had the ladder in there so I took some views from above:

I have timers everywhere. I don't even want to see my electric bill this month. :skeptical:

And here's a quick shot of Top Gal this morning, and I didn't find a single critter on her for a nice change. Temps are dropping in the 40's all week and supposed to continue with highs only in the 60's. Fall is here.

My clones are starting to root .....in plain ol' rainwater in a cup on the windowsill...just like Granny used to do.
No bubblers.....:hmmmm:

(that was for PeeJay, I just couldn't resist...)

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

:blalol:

I don't think my two-node clones would've made it in just a glass of water...

Those cool temperatures are going to be harder on the plant pests than they are on the plants! My run of amazing conditions are going away this weekend, but it's been a heck of a ride for the last three weeks or so.

You're gonna move those plants for Thanksgiving? Ha!

Uh, no....I think they shall stay put. LOL I put a call in to my brother to work on him for hosting Thanksgiving.
I could always call in sick to the relatives that day.......

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

I went to close the curtains on the slider and looked in the back yard to see this:

thc_bomb_down.jpg

That's THC Bomb lying flat on the ground.

Yeah, Mother Nature......you can make wind....I get it already!

I uprighted her and to my surprise nothing was broken. I think the reason for that is the longer stake I had put into the pot yesterday, it kept her stem straight. Whew!
She's on the back deck now where there is a break from the wind, I'll just rotate her once a day to keep even sunlight.

:phew:

Edit: Just a short time later after having checked the other two plants and deciding those pots were way to heavy to tip.....I look out and one was down.
Again, nothing broken....it came to rest on the other pot.
All three are now on the deck.

Words cannot express my level of frustration and amazement at the same time.

Hope everyone is having a better day than me. LOL

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Reps to you, Canna, in spades....your plants are beautiful in spite of the PITA....loved the trichome vid, thank you....

re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Thank you Shawnee. :) Today is a better day. LOL

Update on the pollen collection. The branches went from a few pollen sacs to many and they are doing great! The corners of the bags have a lot of yellow stuff already and I should have a good supply to pollinate now and have some for future use.
I tested out the Corn starch and the flour in two separate glass vials and the corn starch stayed in one clump. It wouldn't mix properly when shaken, the flour did well. I'll stick with the flour.

Here's some pics through the bags:

I gave the boy some water this morning, I think it will likely be completely done over the weekend. I'll be collecting some from one of the bags tomorrow.

Looks like a designer floor lamp...

:circle-of-love:

Yeah, kind of a retro thing. LOL

I had an OMG moment. I went outside in the gale force winds (not really, but felt like it. LOL) to check for the dreaded worms and didn't find a single critter on any of the plants. Not one. Zero, nada...zilch. Don't pinch me, I don't want to wake up......
