Well Canna, it's a moot point now. She went to the pigs this AM. Opened the tent and all her pistils were brown. What a gut punch.

So, back to the beginning with the one small (clean) clone of her, which will get everything in the arsenal as preventative.

Good news is it was contained to the one tent. Could have been totally disastrous.

I hadn't mentioned that you were having the issue Heir, I wasn't sure if you wanted that. ;-)
I am heart broken with you on this, I know how much you wanted to see this through for the seeds. Why do you think the pistils turned brown?

I'm going to check back on my pics and do some analyzing of how the plants looked when I first noticed the critters, and during the treatments. The worst of them were all in flower at the time. I had thrips, aphids, and the downstairs girls had scale insects adding to the issue. I discovered the scale insects in one of the pics.

Sure hope today is better for you Heir.

Radogast, yes I learned the lesson on trying to save the unused neem too. It seemed ineffective after a mixed storage, and light degrades it. Thank you for repeating yourself.

The trichomes shots I took this morning are for an experiment I am doing on freezing buds.

Hopefully this works out to show what I want to prove or debunk.



Edit: the duckling portrayal above was taken with the laser light lens over my phone camera. That is as sharp as it's going to get. Useful for checking trichome colors I guess.

I don't care if it's talked about here. Hey, I lose some too. That's the way it is. I think they turned brown because they did, lol. Withering too. Certain die back. If she had pulled though I'm not sure how much more flowering she would have done. Her Mo was broken. Really not the best situation when trying to make healthy, viable seeds. Really it had to be done, I just didn't want to.

Hell, I'll have feminized PP pollen any moment too. Bummer.

I don't care if it's talked about here. Hey, I lose some too. That's the way it is. I think they turned brown because they did, lol. Withering too. Certain die back. If she had pulled though I'm not sure how much more flowering she would have done. Her Mo was broken. Really not the best situation when trying to make healthy, viable seeds. Really it had to be done, I just didn't want to.

Save that pollen! Put it in a container and keep it in the fridge in a dark area. I have those little canisters that 35mm film came in. They are black, so they keep out the light. I have successfully used pollen that I saved, so I know it is still viable when ready to use.

Here's how I store my pollen, for anyone who has not had the opportunity to save it before.

The pollen is from a Master Kush plant last summer (I might have to double check that, but I do know it's Master Kush) that has been kept in the freezer, it has some of the nanner pods in there too...because they have pollen all over them. The pollen is in the corner of a freezer bag, sealed with a food saver and then a small hole cut in a corner to press out the air, then taped.
The silica (desiccant) pack is to remove moisture, pollen does have moisture when fresh. It also soaks up any stray moisture from the fridge or freezer.
I've read that you can store pollen and have it good up to a year. I will test that out this year...outside...far far away from the house.

These were so tiny, they were almost no-seeums' deep inside the lower part of Purple Paralysis #2 on a small popcorn bud:

They went away and a thorough inspection completed on the rest of her. She'll be ready for harvest within a week or so anyway.

Yeah, they are very clear on the lower buds. The top buds are getting amber. I will wait...patiently.

Just in case anyone gets the munchies from "Lilly", I have some 5 cheese canna garlic bread toasted. It has decarbed bud beneath the cheeses and it's drizzled with Canna Olive oil and sprinkled with Hemp seed hearts.

Slice off a piece and enjoy!

(this is my Sunday afternoon gain weight snack. )

These plants do so well most of the time, it's really tough when something goes very wrong.
Extra tough when you don't know why.

Oh, I know why. She got a full strength Monterey spray, very liberally and without mercy. Apparently pistils didn't like it.

Not a big loss, though that was the original seed plant, not a clone.

As it turns out I could use the tent space immediately anyhow. I had 36 fruit punch at the end of week two from germination. Was going to select 25 most even for a 'full tent' and cull the rest. Instead I took the 12 tallest (worked out because there were 12 clearly larger than the rest) and put them in the empty tent. The other 24 stay in the original tent. No culls, just sorting.

So the lone survivor PP clone is put on the back burner for a bit while I make better use of the tent space immediately.

Ya eh Shawnee,...FFS's. I'm cookin supper right now , so it's not so bad...but it's the stuff our beautiful brothas ,...and sistas post after supper and we've had all our 'after supper' puffs and things , ya know.... Ziggs is bad for it...posting these deserts that need my self....hahaha at 8 oclock at night...right at the start of 'feed time'....land of the 'ice cream bar'... Love you guys!
