I don't think the video will be allowed to stay, it's not cannabis related. So maybe post that on the off topic thread and get the conversation going there? Maybe a new O/T thread..."Baby Boomers Hang Out"....LOL
I do enjoy reading the opinions and experiences of us baby boomers, I so seldom get to talk about that being around so many people younger than me in my world. We have so many stories and we understand why we are where we are based on those experiences with ourselves and what the world was going through... our music was about all of that.

I tried moving the LED light a little closer to the indoor girls and wound up with two leaves curled....I think they were getting burnt. So I moved it right back up.
AND, the predictions for Sunday are large hail at the moment....of course if you wait 5 minutes that will change.
However, I am going to be prepared with some large plastic coffee containers to put over the top of these outdoor kids. I had hail here a couple years ago that was about quarter size, some even bigger. One of those on these freshly planted lil' kids would knock her out. I'm not taking any chances.

Question on Auto's and LED lighting:
When you are growing Autos with LED lights in the vegetative stage, do you still keep the "veg mode" lighting switch only on, or do you use them at full flower power? My understanding is that they are going to do their own thing on their own schedule regardless of the lighting schedule or strength.
Looking forward to learning on that.

Canna I run them with both switches on as soon as they have legs under them strong enough to take it.... If electricity is an issue you don't have to.... but I didn't notice a difference in the utility bill once I started running them with both switches on....

Ugh, sorry about the hail possibility, but at least you know it could be coming and can be prepared. Im sure the coffee containers will do the job.

I personally waited until my auto was plainly flowering before I turned the bloom/red part of the lights on. Perhaps that was an error. I plan to do my lighting a little bit differently next time.

I thought your chicken run had a roof, but I guess the sunlight is better without one.
Probably too late for today, but if you have a tarp, and it's not an adventure to get up there, you might just drag a tarp over the top of the chicken run for a temporary roof.

And Radogast, the "roof" is chicken wire where the plants are. That was put up to keep hawks and coons out of the pen. Plenty of sunlight gets in. There is a covered lean-to on the East end of it, but I haven't put that to any use yet.

Without seeing your entire yard space I can say that I am envious anyway. Id love to be able to have a chicken coop, complete with chickens and eggs. Especially after I got an eyeful of the prices of a dozen eggs at the grocery store this week. $3.50! I refused to buy any. haha
Im also wanting a compost space and a garden. LOL Ive never had any of those things so it would be quite the change for me, but I cant stop thinking about it, so I guess Ill have to give it a try, hopefully next year for some of it at least.

Soooo......I went to start the mower...won't start and battery drained. Put the charger on it, and headed off to check the Wildlings. They were all perfectly cozy, and it was quiet other than the familiar high pitch cheep of the chipmunks...very close.
A while later, out to try to start the mower again....no go. So, let the charger sit an hour or so on it and will try again later. Grab some more spring garlic bulbs that were in the house and head out to plant them in the Haven. "Cheep cheep..." from inside the haven as I approached. I looked in and one of the Wildlings had been uprooted and was lying helplessly on the ground! The danged chipmunks are what's been digging above ground!
Now I have a have-a-heart trap for rodents/chipmunks, but the sheer number of chippee's out here with all the wood piles....well it would be a futile effort on my part to rid them.
Think.....protect the plants......
New invention, where tomato cages won't keep chipmunks away, the Canna-Cage will hopefully do the job until the girls are big enough to not be worth bothering with to the rodents. This is plastic mesh that is supposed to be used on top of rain gutters to keep them from plugging up with leaves and acorns etc. It caused me more work in the long run than what it was worth, so the roll sat in the garage for years.
I dug a round trench around each plant and set the mesh in it, securing it with soil inside and out.
The first cage went around the replanted unfortunate victim along with a little drink of water. By the time I had finished caging the others, she had perked up a bit. I am hopeful that she survives the ordeal.
Now, we'll see what the chippee's do.

Hey Sorenna, I really do love my space. I pray that I never have to give this up.
I have yet to even try a compost pile out here, one day I'll get into gear and get one going.
I hope that we don't get the hail, but we do need the rain.

Canna, it does take thinking out of the box with all the critters around here....hoping these storms aren't as bad as they say....still haven't cleaned up the damage from last week...
on another note, my heart swells for American Pharoah, Triple Crown winner, first in 37 years....what a horse, what a heart, and what spirit in an animal....my goodness, it just takes my breath away....woot woot

I still can't get over the $3.50 eggs.... I don't know where you live... but 'm sure glad I'm here... I bought 1.5 dozen yesterday for $2.79 and I thought that was terrible...

I've paid $2.69 a doz for years now, but they're eggs that actually have color to the yolk and flavor that makes them worth the price. Can't find that quality protein for the price anywhere else. Eggs are my favorite protein source.
