Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & More!

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

PeeJay, I've got a tub full of crushed eggshells gathered. Time to use them up and make room for more. Would it hurt to add them to my seedling soil? Or would it be best just to mix them into the big girls' soil?

Thanks!

Thank you! I kept trying to figure out a word to describe the feel and the look of the leaves on this plant. Plastic foliage like you would see at a craft store. LOL
It is just impossible to keep them down. The video after I rolled the stem of the leaves to soften them enough to bend was cool. They bounced back up within minutes. LOL

I left a shout out for breakfast at Smokey's for ya. Geez I miss the waffle houses.

Edit: I found a way to hold those big leaves down without snipping them off. I have the wire coat hanger stakes in use. Works perfectly and they can still draw energy etc. from them. :)

I'm still catching up, but wanted to share a thought on getting vigorous fans out of the way. I have a wide assortment of S-hooks that do this very well. Wooden clothes pins can be used to clip them out of the way, and Vlad hangs strings with nuts and bolts from his, although I think with him it's more for LST of side branches. But I used S-hooks to great benefit with my first grow. They slip right onto the petiole and pull the leaf down. Then, if the S-hook is long enough, you can hook them out of the way. Might be worth a try Canna.

B A R was the one who inspired me to try clothes pins for this chore. Such a versitle tool. :laughtwo:

I do use the clothespins and the nuts/bolts drops when doing them on the outside of the pots, ( I had to use the nuts/bolts on the wild wide plant in the garage grow last season, if you recall) when they've grown enough. I find the bent plastic coated coat hanger pieces work very well for training inside the pots until they get long enough for outside training.
The best method I have found is the jewelry broach pins that you buy via bagfuls at craft stores. They pin onto the fabric pots anywhere I need them and I tie the LST to them any direction I need. Some people use safety pins as well, either one works great.

Thanks for the tips. :)

While on the subject of the fabric pots, I'm going to try the round tops of the tomato cages to insert into the top folded/sewn area of the pots. This will assist in making the edges sturdy and not pull inward when I'm LST'ing. I think that's going to work out great, and I might even try bending some coat hangers into a good round and try those.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

I read the bit about the broaches and immediately began thinking about how to attach small bits of colored glass to them to throw the light in interesting ways. :laughtwo:

Great idea with the tomato cages Canna. Mine are in crates, so I could tie off onto the them. Hmmmmm....... You have me thinking about stability in a new way. This'll be my first serious attempt at training.

Thanks Beast, I'll start looking over her over and see what needs to be opened up on her now. :bitingnails: LOL

On the tomato cage support, it worked out perfectly....and how cheap are paper clips? Then I'll use the document clips for the LST'ing.

I'm going to get a bigger cage ring for this pot, that should spread it out where I want it. But this size will work perfectly for the fabric pots!

And here's the Hemp plants today, they are going to be used for some grafting tests when they are big enough:

I'm not one to dawdle when I want something done, so I took a larger round of tomato cage, cut it and fit it to the pot size. Then I wired it together. Now the size is perfect!

Yeah? Queen Chit?

I just finished one of the fabric pots with the tomato cage ring. Needle-n-Thread, every couple inches and it works perfectly. :)

After:

Took maybe ten minutes. I'm going to do the rest of them tomorrow.

Re: Cannafan's Perpetual Grow - Where Everything Changes - Autos - Photos - Seeds & M

Durban Poison looks a bit shy of clothing, and I only took off 5 leaves. LOL I did some very light spreading out of the limbs with some slight LST bends. It opened her up and all of the bud sites are getting light now:

Well, I think that If I do a scrog again it won't be with a reveg plant. There are LOTS of buds on this girl, but they are kind of small compared to what I am used to:

Here she is before I did something to her:

I removed the SCrog screen and she is under the Budmaster LED for her final week(s), I think it will be a good thing:

The LST girl didn't spread out as much, but I think the buds are thicker and longer, she's on the right:

Here's the third plant in flower:
