Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I want to try my hand at compounding some topical's today. For anyone who has used CCO mixed with melted Coconut oil, do they mix freely without heat? If not, how long do you heat them beore they go into solution? Not sure which way I want to start out.
Thanks

I have only made coconut oil from trim and bud with my MB2. Coconut oil has a low melting point (74 degrees or so) I would "melt" both and blend well. An immersion blender would probably work well for that. Good luck!! :peace:

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Now I have an extra step!!!

I HAD a nice glass mortar and pestle left over from the good ole days thought I'd try to heat it up (before I got your message SG.)
I evidently was to rough with the pestle as the mortar split in half and the contents are now in the water bath.
Guess I'll do a lil evaporating and start over.

(Is today Monday or something?)

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Once I get the CCO incorporated into the Coconut Oil, I am going to try adding DMSO to the mixture. Hopefully that will pull the cannabis right through the dermal layer and directly to where I want it. I realize some CCO is absorbed through the skin... I just want as much as possible so I have my fingers crossed. But... first things first!
I did add the contents of 4 big shoots off my Aloe Vera Plant too.

Coconut oil, hmmmm, good idea.

I found that as the coconut oil solidified the cco settled to the bottom. So I used a hand mixer with one beater to mix it all back in there while it was still liquidy enough to do it. As it cooled from there, it stayed mixed in with no trouble. :)

Thanks Cannafan, I'll give this a try. I'm almost done boiling off for the second time:rofl:

Immersion blender would probably work too, as SG suggested.
I've never mastered one of those. Can't tell you many times I wound up with stuff flying everywhere. LOL One of these days I WILL get it right.

I just have an old fashioned "Hand Mixer" it says, I was able to just use one beater too, it's gonna have to do for now. How long did it take to cool to the point that it stayed all mixed up without separating?

Just a tidbit but I bought a package of strainers that painters use instead of coffee filters and they are awesome for what we do here.

If I understand your question correctly, it took a long time to cool. A few hours, but I have been reading that it's best to cool it in the refrigerator to keep it from being grainy if other ingredients have been added in regards to bath and body items.
You might check into that further if you have time.
I may have posted that to the blog, I'll check and get back with you.

I did the oil mixing when the mixture was opaque enough that you could not see through it.

It is the first day of the Lunar Year of the Fire Monkey.. I guess the monkey got over excited over your blending an offering.

Very glad Cannafan had some good info for you - she's the bomb!

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Funny you mentioned the fire monkey Rado.....he was verrrry good to me today. Furnace is up and running beautifully!

I am sorry about the mortar Beav. Damn! Those are so nice to have around, hope you find another. You've told me what not to do, so something good came from it. And you managed to save your goodies to try again.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I am finally happy with this 1'st batch, I had to keep adding beeswax to stiffen it up just a lil at a time.

I wouldn't give it to my wife for a facial cream, but it's gonna be just fine on my back (for starters.)
Thanks for the help. :thanks:

Looks inviting Beav. Let us know how it works for you, and congrats on getting a batch done! :cheertwo:

This spot on my leg that gets the irritant blistery thing healed up and gone within 3 days, where normally it can take a week of itching and sore. I'm liking that cream I made for sure.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Monkeys are tricksters. In chinese horoscope terms they are nicer to some signs than others. But a trickster can play tricks on friends too :)

From sources, today/this year should be most auspicious for Ox and Rabbit - least auspicious for Tiger or Pig.

As an Earth Dog, Fire forms Earth, Tongue and Mouth are partners, Dog and Monkey share lucky numbers - so I'm fine :)

If you are a Water Tiger or Water Pig, a cracked glass mortar is a small price to acknowledge the year of Fire Monkey :)

If you were closer I'd give you a lil sample.

I've had that mortar/pestle packed away since August of 1996 and today was the first day I had a need for it. I might replace it because it did come in handy.
I'll let you know how the mixture works out but it wouldn't be right to give a report today.:tokin:

Edit to add:
After getting cleaned up I grabbed my stick deoderant and finished it off.... NEXT TIME... I'll make it just a tad thicker and pout it in the empty container. If it works... talk about no muss no fuss.
