Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

:bump: Same question here. :) A gel?

Thanks MM.
I'll have to see about the Arnica, is there anything else that would work in it's place? Is that a gel, liquid, cream?

Edit: Sorry, I didn't see the posts after yours...

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Are you extracting the arnica yourself? It looks like the flowers can be extracted the same way as with cannabis.

The seeds are for sale online, this is a good description from a seed seller:

Arnica montana, packet of 50 seeds

Family: Aster (Asteraceae)
(Mountain Arnica)
Hardy to all temperate zones but best grown at high elevation sites in the temperate north. Clump forming alpine herbaceous perennial native to the the mountains of Europe and Asia. Flowers very large, on long, sturdy stalks. Arnica is a botanical treasure that is treated with reverence wherever it occurs. This is the official plant that provides the basis for homeopathic remedies, and oil infusions, compresses and salves. Makes the primary botanical ingredient of a great number of remedies, the recipes for which stretch back into antiquity. Arnica montana makes sturdy clumps in the native habitat, and should be planted in moist, acid soil in the full sun at about 2 feet between plants, in order to approximate the natural spacing requirements. We have had some success with growing these at around 2,000 feet elevation, and have received reports of good success from folks living at 8,000 feet in the Rockies. To cultivate, use standard flower seed planting method, where the seeds are pressed into spongy potting soil and kept evenly moist and cool until germination, which occurs in a couple of weeks. Light dependent germinator. Work up in pots before transplant.

50 Seeds/pkt., Open Pollinated

You could forgo the Arnica and just up the Aloe Vera, I just like to overkill sometimes. I get it on line from Mountain Rose.

I do not have the space to grow this myself so I buy it. It is steeped in olive oil. Beware of some places steeping in soy bean oil. I will not use soy in anything.

Arnica seems to be a hardy plant with no legal baggage, so an outdoor crop of this flower would be nice to have around for it's pain relief properties, and since there seem to be some extraction rigs around, looks like a great addition to the garden and the medicine cabinet. Just need to be cautious with eating it, there are warnings about ingesting, but for topical use it looks great. Arnica for Pain? - Ask Dr. Weil

Arnica for Pain?

What can you tell me about using arnica to relieve muscle strain?

Answer (Published 12/15/2006)

Arnica (Arnica montana) is a plant that grows in mountainous areas, and can be found in the northern United States, Canada and the European Alps. It is called "mountain daisy" because of its bright yellow or orange daisy-like flower. The flowers and root are used traditionally to prepare topical remedies for relief of pain.

Arnica is great for bruises, sprains, soreness, and swelling and for the relief of arthritis, muscle, and joint pain. It comes as tinctures, creams, salves, ointments, gels and oils, all for topical use. These products are available at health food stores and at some pharmacies. I prefer the tincture, which smells good and feels good. You can massage it into any injured area with unbroken skin.

You can also make arnica compresses to relieve musculoskeletal pain. Mix a tablespoon of arnica tincture with a pint of spring or purified water. Dip a gauze pad or sanitary napkin in the mixture, then put it on the arthritic joint or bruised area.

Never apply arnica in any form on broken skin or on an open wound. Arnica is toxic if it gets inside the body. (Other names for this herb are leopard's bane and wolf's bane.) Never take arnica internally, unless it's in the form of little white homeopathic pills that contain too little arnica to cause harm. I usually recommend the 30X potency as a first-aid treatment for trauma – a dental procedure, for example, or any sport’s related injury or accident involving sprains, strains, or bruising. Pour four pills into the cap of the bottle, then toss them into your mouth, under your tongue. (Never handle homeopathic pills, in order to preserve their energetic qualities.) The pills can be taken every two hours for the first 24 hours after the injury but not within a half hour of eating.

Some people are sensitive to the compound helenalin in arnica. The sensitivity shows up as a mild rash – if this happens to you, just stop using the arnica.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Yesterday there was a White House email from Biden saying there was a cancer summit in a few hours and to send him testimonials - I replied that I hear of someone every week talking about how cannabis cured their cancer. And these are real people with real stories. If their summit does not talk about whole plant cannabis and cannabis essential oil treatments they they might as well send everyone home because it is a farce. It is a national disgrace that Medical Marijuana is not part of cancer treatment in the USA.

I remember myself being a little more elegant in my prose, but I do consider it a national disgrace and a criminal farce that cannabis essential oil (RSO,CCO) is not as available in pharmacies as birth control pills.

Is there a special email for that? PM me. I will send a message!!!!! :peace:

It was a temporary link good for about 2 hours.

I updated a whitehouse.gov petition back when Occupy was doing their sleep-ins, so I am on the White House maliing list.

The petitions seemed to mean something until the US House of Representatives stopped passing meaningful legislation. Then the states sent the same criminal lawyers back to be their representatives again. It sort of dampened my enthusiasm for petitions.

Good luck with that.

I hope one day Cannabis Corp. can topple petro alcohol pharma textile monopolies forever.

Dirty corps have politics in their pocket, especially anti cannabis propaganda.

RSOiler and all the oilseeds, I have just started to try to grow my own med's and am in desperate need of advice. I have started to read this thread and many others but they all grow faster than I can read. I crushed a couple of vertebra in a parachute accident 40 years ago and now I'm paying for it. Back pain depression stress and COPD. The last one makes me very interested in CCO but I really don't know what strains I should be looking at. I heard Sativa's for day med's and Indica for night. I also hear about ratio's of THC and CBD but no final decision on what is best. Also I hear about oil distillers but can't find where they are named as to brand etc. Any advice on any of these subjects would be most appreciated. Thank you. Dan

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Welcome lobosolo, You have a lot of reading to do. For help on growing check out this link Smokeater Smokey is a injured first responder and is getting great help over there.

You need to read the first couple of pages of the two other journals on my link, ask questions that belong to that type of journal. You will find that most of the "oilseeds" here answer the question on those threads.

As for what strains to grow? For daytime you want to grow a Sativa high in THC, and a Sativa high in CBD so you can mix a 2:1 THC/CBD ratio. Nighttime strain should be a pure Indica (As pure as possible) so you can get your rest.

This is a start.....read, read, read...............ask you questions on the other two journals and you will be on your way to helping yourself.

Good luck, and we'll see you soon.

:love::cco::love:

Also, you will want to read page 123 post #1831 on the "Cannabis Oil Dosing Tutorial" written by Motoco about a month before he past.

On the oil distillers, check into the Megahome brand. That's what was mostly discussed here. Some of us have the water distiller, but there is an Esssential Oil distiller model that is a closed unit used more for extractions. The water distiller is not a closed unit, so the exhaust/fumes seem to be the prevalent issue to use it indoors. By "closed" I mean the top of the unit, inside, has a hole to allow the gaseous escape into the atmosphere.
These units are sold under several different company names, once you find the Megahome distiller you can see what it looks like and go from there with your searching.
I've been using mine for reclaiming the alcohol as well as others here with success, but I would definitely advise to do it outside or where there is a strong exhaust fan to extract those fumes that come out during the process. I have mine in the garage now.

Also, please view this video when you have time, to see the distiller in action as well as making the oil:
