Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Dennise, this was one of the first things I read this morning and I actually let out a loud :woohoo: that made the dog jump! Hahaha!

Such wonderful news!!!! :yahoo: When I got here I made the switch to stevia, because that's what they use here. After almost seven weeks it's become what the body registers as normal and when we're out and I use Splenda instead it now tastes too sweet. My mother warned us of this year's ago, but Dale was resistant to the change so we chose not to pay attention to it. Thank you for reinforcing the awareness.

Every day, in every way, you just keep getting better and better girl. Isn't life sweet? :circle-of-love:

Wow Dennise! What a huge share. I just knew there was something about those sweeteners that was not good. I couldn't bring myself to use them, mostly the aftertaste.
This is fantastic, and you can hopefully now get off the pain pills for good!:cheertwo:

Can't believe how excited I am for you, and how much we appreciate you sharing that information. :thumb:

You go with your bad azzed self girl!!

It took me forever to get accustomed to coffee without sugar.

Oh, and BTW...my uncle who has diabetes and is an amputee as a result, uses that crystal stuff flavoring in his water too. I'm about to give him a call. Just one more reinforced bit of information he can be provided..and then ignore. But I will feel better that I did my best and everything I could to get him healthier.

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

I was reading my "Stoners' Cookbook" and found this little tidbit on the last line of methods and heat settings to decarb Cannabis:

Remove cannabis oil from heat when bubble formation starts to slow down — or leave on heat until all bubbles stop for increased sedative effect.

What's your thoughts on the increased sedative effect comment? True..not true....?

If this has been covered on the oil thread, my apologies. I could not find anything specific, so easy on me, eh?

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Just a quick update. We ran out of oil at the beginning of the week. With in a couple days, we both felt the effects of stopping the oil. My wife found her energy level down. Harder time getting up and moving in the morning. For me, My sleep has not been as good and my restless leg has come back a bit.

Hopefully my Blue Blood will be ready in another week or so.

Thankfully, our friend has supplied us with 2 more syringes of oil, day and night. This should be enough to keep us going till I can make a batch from the BB. :circle-of-love::peace:

In Tim's original how make oil thread, he said the following:

Cannabis produces phytocannabinoids in a carboxylic acid form that are not orally active at least at the CB-1 receptor sites, because they don’t readily pass the blood brain barrier in their polar form. To enable them to pass the blood brain barrier, they must first be decarboxylated, to remove the COOH carboxyl group of atoms, which exits in the form of H20 and CO2.

Decarboxylation occurs naturally with time and temperature, as a function of drying, but we can shorten the amount of time required considerably by adding more heat. The more heat, the faster it occurs, within reasonable ranges, and in fact occurs spontaneously when the material is burned or vaporized. There is another mechanism at play however, which suggests that we need to control the decarboxylation temperatures carefully. When we heat cannabis to convert the THCA and CBDA into THC and CBD, we are also converting THC to CBN at a faster rate. At about 70% decarboxylation, we actually start converting THC to CBN at a faster rate than we are converting THCA to THC, after about 70% decarboxylation, the levels of THC actually start to fall sharply. That of course means that the CBN also begins to rise and the medication is becoming more sedative.

I read similar at another source this morning.

I'm glad you posted that. I am so happy you have some back up!
I had to stop my oil, yet again, due to possible drug testing for work during the layoff time. I stopped on Tuesday actually, on a just in case measure to be sure it's out of my system.
I don't sleep well now, I'm feeling lethargic and I have much less get up and go. This is going to be a long haul for me. It's amazing how much that oil makes me feel human and healthy.
I'm so disgusted with this system.

Thank you so much for finding that Jim! I must have been typing the wrong keywords into the search feature.
This will make a difference on how far I let that oil go down for future batches. Will be watching those bubbles much more closely. :)
This ties in with what Cajun said about converting things to CBN with higher heating. I'm getting this refresher course whittled down. LOL

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

Well, my bad luck hit me yesterday when I was out and about. The grandkids were here with the second daughter-in-law. They were running around chasing the dog, an Australian Shepard who loves to run and never watches where he is going. The rule is not to chase the dog indoors, but five year olds don't have enough control when fun is involved. So as they ran around in the kitchen the dog slammed into the small table where the distiller sat. The distiller hit the floor and the oak table landed perfectly on the opening of the bottom part. The top part broke apart and the bottom is no longer round where the top fits. Unfortunately it is not repairable, parts would cost as much as a new one. It will take me another month or two to be able to afford another one.

Fortunately, I still have the method without reclaiming to make my oil. Sadly, I won't be able to report the proof of reclaiming the 151 Everclear I bought yesterday while I was out. The dinner was nice, but the return home was devastating. I'll be crying in my black coffee for the rest of the day, week maybe.

Sorry to hear WildJim. Will you replace the water still with the essential oil model? I'm still trying to learn how to convert this 580 watt model, with a switch or rheostat, down to 320 watts. It would be cool to do both temps! Trying to convert reset button. Anyone know how?

Ps. Lower still temp will give higher proof distillate due to less water in steam.

No, I will replace it with the same model. Taking 12 hours to distill a gallon of water is just too long.

That is sad news for sure! Thank goodness there was nothing boiling hot in there and no one got hurt.
Keep your chin up, it will work out somehow. And I think Mighty Mouse will be testing this for us as well.

We're crying with you my friend. :circle-of-love:

I was reading on the net yesterday about plug in rheostats, they go between the unit and the power outlet somehow. Like a dimmer switch.
Is that a feasible thing, or dangerous?

re: Cannabis Oil Users Cafe & Lounge

My concern with using my fan controller is that I don't how the cooling fan might react. If it's variable speed...no problemo, I think! If it's not, it'll burn out real fast. Hey, maybe replacing the fan is easier than trying to figure out how to re-wire the heating element.

Test time! Will the fan burn out? I'll be back with that answer.

I will be testing the vodka Monday afternoon and will post the results.
