Found a new oil making method online I want to try. Guy designed device he calls AVA (alcohol vanishing apparatus). Basically it's an evaporator. Fan blows filtered air over tray inside a sealed tub and vents outside. Alcohol evaporates from the wash at room temp. He claims it works in as little as 24 hours, didn't say how much he processed at one time.
His process doesn't decarb the oil or recover any alcohol, so I'm going to try to combine that with my still. I decarbed some herb last night in an oven bag (thanks Sue). I'll do my wash today and use the still to recover most of the alcohol. Then I'll set up my own AVA to finish the processing. Actually I'll put the AVA together first so I don't end up with another half finished project. Wondering if I can rig our food dehydrator for this.
Besides safety issue this is a quality control issue for me as well. I've ruined 2 batches due to heat control problems. Unless I spill some this seems almost fool proof.

I don't do resolutions so much as try to start the year taking the actions I want to continue throughout the year.
Today I: tended the cannabis and indoor garden, cooked my wife breakfast, did 5 crossword puzzles from the newspaper, showered, worked on building the ceiling for the basement exercise room, had pleasant conversations with the family, spent a short amount of time on 420 magazine and facebook.
I plan to pour myself a glass of butterscotch schnapps and watch some Hulu or Netflix.
I think I'll smoke some cannabis too. I'd like to get high more often in the upcoming year.

I don't make resolutions because I have a problem with commitments.
However, my goals are:
1) take better notes on what I do in my garden, because I can't remember shit anymore, and

I resolve to refuse to allow myself to wallow in any form of negative thought. I resolve to wake every morning with the deliberate choice to feel the overwhelming emotion of gratitude, then get on with my day while doing my best to hold onto that delicious feeling as long as possible.

We were mentioning additional benefits from using cannabis. My wife reports this morning, another side benefit:
Her hair is thicker and stronger. She has always had fine blonde (silver, now) hair, and now she reports that its thicker and stronger.
Have any of you noticed this?

I have discussed that with friends in the past. Hair grows faster, seems healthier. Nails grow healthier....there are a lot of little things that happen that some would not notice at all. I couldn't grow fingernails out most of my life. They were just brittle and cracked right off. Now I can't seem to keep up with them, including toes.
My hair is thicker, my nails healthier and stronger. Before beginning to use cannabis more deliberately, my nails were developing ridges. I was just noticing the other day they look young again. Like Canna mentioned, they grow quickly. Lol!
The ridges are a hazard of aging, and can also happen when you have underlying medical issues. I've also been told by a nutritionist that vitamin deficiencies can cause this as well. So somewhere along the line the oil is correcting this. And I couldn't be happier. I have nail polish in my bathroom cuboard now. LOL

Getting old sucks for sure. Things are going well at Chez Wildjim. Had a wonderful Christmas and New Year. Hope you had the same. Going to start another Auto soon. Just can't figure which. Maybe another Fast and Vast. Will start in about two weeks. Want to clean my tent out. Giant spider took over. I hate spiders. Shiver shiver! WJ

Fast 'n Vast sounds like a good choice. You can be sure to get a decent haul and I'm assuming a good oil producer? You'll be so glad to have another plant to baby. It's a good healing modality.
I had mites hit this year. What fun that can be.
The problem with me and mites is I have cosmic disturbance when I try to kill smaller earthlings when we share living space. Yes, I know, we're talking the Borg, and yet, it was hard to keep attacking them. In the end I try to cut the numbers down. Spiders are your friend.
They eat all manner of critters you don't want in your home. I once took in an old refrigerator from a friend without thinking about the wisdom of that move, and ended up with roaches. 
Not an earthling I'm comfortable with cohabiting with at all. Because I'm so spider-friendly they were wiped out within two weeks. I learned that ecological lesson. Have fun getting set up. It pleases me to no end to hear expectation in your voice Jim.
