Cannabis Oil Dosing Tutorial: Tacking Method

... Also, I've read that CBD may well promote bone growth. ...

Tho I don't recall seeing reference to CBD promoting bone growth, I did see an article on MedicalJane which concluded with:

Although the sample size of this study was very small, the researchers note, "Considering that cannabidiol presents an extremely safe profile and is currently being used clinically, these results suggest that this compound could be useful in the treatment of intervertebral disc degeneration... Although further research is necessary to clarify the mechanisms involved in CBD effects, the present results suggest the possibility of its use for disc degeneration treatment."

So, to cover all my bases, in addition to some supplements that have shown potential to help reduce osteoarthritis pain and increase range of motion, I'm trying to include CBD as much as possible, hedging bets that it will prove to be helpful with bone-related issues as well.

Tho I don't recall seeing reference to CBD promoting bone growth,...
Older journal piece, 2010, here

Another much more recent one that I of course can't find at the moment.
The upshot I got from reading the articles is that CBD helps to achieve homeostasis of the osteoblasts and osteoclasts. Bone growth would be a hoped for result.

That'd be nice!

Tia,
I would recommend a salve/ointment applied topically for pain relief as well. Add the tacking & you should feel relief at least.
I've not encountered actual bone development, but the tacking of the oil should balance/regulate most issues.

As mentioned previously, if you need a "recipe" for a salve, shout out.

Long ways from having bud to make me own meds cajun but I'm a few short days from getting to a dispensary, I'll certainly talk to the folks there about the ointments they carry.

Definitely not an intrusion ... thanks! :adore:

This is exactly the kind of info I was hoping to find. What I'd heard of Blue Dream, AK47, etc ... guess I jumped to the conclusion they'd leave me feeling uncomfortable. But after digging more into these based on your suggestion, the affects (or is that effects?) look very promising.

This coming week when we're in town for some appointments, I'll try to get some Blue Dream or AK47 (and one of those clones ... until I have those seeds) so I can make some daytime RSO. I'll be sure to make this RSO using the ratio you suggested.

Again ... thanks! :adore:

A worthy mention; taking the oil with no 'high' is exactly what you are looking for reading your post. Take what you know about digesting/smoking/edibles and do a complete opposite. It will amaze you how it will make you healthy not only physically but mentally also.
Cheers

Thanks cajuncelt ... and I sure hear ya olderthandirt.

Any suggestions for daytime choices considering the above?

Blue Shark from CBD Crew Seeds might be the daytime you're looking for.
It's Blue Dream x with a heavy CBD. Should be minimal anxiety, etc.

This seed co is creating strains that have the ratio of THC/CBD most of us are mixing up.

You mentioned finding Critical Cure. Keep researching & don't get discouraged. As I mentioned, the strains from med-oriented companies are getting better every few months for us.

I found most bud tenders don't know shit about mmj as a med. I would steer clear of their tinctures, etc. unless you know their product is what you want.

Amen.

Most info out there is bs.

Thanks for that citation! Did some searching and one thing that caught my eye is that some of the journals mention "CBD" which is also an abbreviation for a "cortical bone density" measurement. After weeding out those, I found 2 other citations but haven't yet digested them:

Here and here [this one not yet published].

... My opinion would be to use a topical ointment, salve, tincture to stop the chronic pain as well as dosing with the oil.
If you need a recipe for a topical application, let us know.

Tho topicals are of limited benefit, there are times (i.e. today ... right now) where my back gets 'out of sync' which makes some of the big muscles fight it out with each other. The result being my back muscles feeling like they just completed a full marathon. For that I like to add in a topical. I've been making my own I think somewhat based on BadKat's recipe. However, I'm always looking at tweaks, ways to improve/save time/increase effectiveness.

So would appreciate whatever recipe(s) you can share, especially since its going to be a bit before I have a good daytime RSO.

Blue Shark from CBD Crew Seeds ...

This suggestion caught my interest, too, however unable to find seeds for that. There is a CBD Blue Shark from Barney's but its on the Indica side. The Seedfinder site isn't showing any other similar strains crossed with Blue Dream, nor is it listed on the CBD Crew site. Even a seed bank I've used a couple times to I've found to carry some discontinued/close-out strains doesn't have it. However, one strain I'm in the process of growing is the CBD [Crew] MediHaze that's Sativa dominant so might work if I mix in a bit of Sativa to get a 70/30 ratio since end up 1:1 or even 2:1 on the CBD side.

Blue Shark by CBD Crew will be out very soon. I got my beans from them in person.
Watch their site...
Unfortunately, the oil is not a magic bullet. There are just some situations that are too drastic.
Curing/healing from a chronic issue takes an entire life style change (diet, exercise, etc.) usually.

Many, many cancer patients for example, are/will not be healed from anything, but the oil will help their path in their final days. That's just nature. It's also, unfortunately, an unpleasant fact.
Whether or not the oil, or some other form of cannabis, actually cures an issue; it will still help you biologically in many ways.

Putting on my big boy pants & I look at it as I can die with a slight smile, or in agonizing pain...
I'd choose the former.

The quicker you get to the oil, the better chance for healing.

As far as growing your own, it's your choice obviously.
I frankly will not be told by anyone, anywhere that I cannot heal myself & others. It's my choice & my responsibility good or bad.

P.S. In checking my signature, you'll see I'm growing most of the strains we're discussing.
I don't live in a friendly location.

Exactly. I've always wondered why they don't write down the info on the strain so they know the stats of the strains they are selling. People come in to get a pure Indica for example and walk out with a 60/40 dominant. Its about recreational use to them. They are pretty lost on the medicinal side. The ill end up paying as they do not get what they are seeking. Take it on yourself and learn as much as you can from MMJ reviews, etc. and do a thorough study on each strain. Keep in mind reviews are like yahoo's, everyone has one. Concur with cajun, if possible always make your own 'everything'. A shame to be sure because some folks simply do not have the resources.

Good thing your not a regular member

I had no idea 420 had so many medical threads that I'm almost ashamed.
Y'all probably knew, but there's threads on everything from CB receptors to treating your pets.
I'll be posting lots of info on the ECS. Might be useful to someone.

I hear you Brother! I usually just stay in the two threads on the norm. When I first joined 420 I looked at all the ailments and for a minute felt overwhelmed. Going through a lot of them most just have the usual generic web post that is everywhere. I've tried to just keep things narrowed to two threads as to keep things in a general location otherwise feel like 'have gun-will travel'. I think a Q&A in the Medical section would be nice. Doesn't matter what aliment one has they can ask their question there instead of 50 different places. In most part it is not too scattered. Anything with receptors Brother, we'll be there :)

Yeah, I've never really looked around the forum it seems.
I started with grow journals & came here when Motoco got this up n going. So, I'm with ya. I found all kinds of stuff last night.

I'll post stuff & link to my sig I guess is the easiest way.
There's SO much info missing... just not there, that I'm looking fwd to it.
Time to get us out of the dark ages.

A lot needs to be done in the medical section cajun, thing is I'm so busy just don't have the time to do much of anything except help others. That is always on the top of my priority list. Most days now are 18 hours long but the reward is worth every second. A lot of things need to be updated and as we know misinformation is abound. Glad you're here friend.

How is it possible not to get high using the tacking method? I made the mistake of eating after I tacked... I was messed up for over 24 hours.... I will never do that again..... I wish there was an external patch for this.
Thanks

Late response because this tutorial is in a couple of places? But for anyone reading this the answer is always eat before taking your oil. What happened in this case is when you 'tack' the oil and then eat the food pulls off the oil and carries it down to the stomach and its liftoff! Also when 'tacking' you don't swallow saliva, water, anything for at least 15 minutes after dosing (no hot drinks/food for at least 30 minutes). As a safety feature it is recommended for folks starting out is after you 'tack' you can take a small drink of ice water, no swishing, no swallowing. Let it stay around your gums for a few seconds and gently spit it out. If you see any oil in the glass 'tack' better next time. Also the chilled water locks the oil on your gums. Another important technique is to flatten your dose with a cuticle pusher/butter knife/similar. What happens is when you don't and press the oil to your gums some can roll off and down the hatch it goes. I see many folks with a good day bad day situation. Check your dosing protocol and make sure its spot on and see a huge improvement. If taking larger dosing amounts the oil works much more effectively if those amounts are broken down into more 'tacks'. Always keep in mind when you tack; if you ingest more oil than you tack its a 'sloppy dose' and the oil doesn't work like it should. Doubt? Try tacking much smaller amounts more times and watch the results vastly improve along with a positive attitude.

If you swallow the oil by accident and know it you can 911 yourself by taking a 1/4 grain of rice and 'tack' it properly to avoid getting euphoric. If you do not tack a small amount right after you suspect you ingested some of your dose, in two hours like clockwork you will get high. If you don't think because you are not feeling 'high' even an hour after you tacked but do get high approximately two hours after you 'tacked' then do the '911' on yourself with a 1/4 grain of rice and 'tack' correctly. You won't feel as good as a 'clean' tack but it will bring you down. Always do an efficient tack, keep hydrated and snack in between meals (never before 30 minutes after you tack) and you will always be in control of the oil. It isn't how much you can take of the concentrate, its how efficient you tack your dose. The more absorbed through your gums equates to the most efficient use of the concentrate. Thinking you cannot absorb the amount your dosing? Cut it down to where you can. Where did the 'gram' a day come from for treating cancer? A lot of things have been edited and very vague on dosing techniques, using whole plant instead of flowers, Indica dominant healing, etc. Just have to put your thinking cap on, if all the other things related to the oil has been edited...

A worthy mention; many folks who use the oil for treating variable ailments sometimes complain the oil doesn't feel like its working. If you tack properly the oil will manage your system properly including blood pressure, heart rate, sugar levels, pain, etc. It is very easy for inexperienced/experienced people doing the oil to rush their 'tack' and have more oil drain down then get the oil absorbed through the gums to the CB1 receptors. Because a 'tack' was attempted or you have been doing the oil for a while and its in your system the euphoria will be mild and easily adjusted to. However, it does not control the above mentioned and in fact can cause 'racy' heart rate, anxiety. People will argue that they are 'tacking' correctly but countless times the bad days are sloppy dosing.
