Canadian Growers Group & Friends

How do you handle the size of the sativa plants indoors, do you bother to run a veg cycle?? or straight 12/12.
I grew some Malawi from ace seed, i had to give the mother away it got so big, clones went to straight 12/12 light no veg, topped several times, and still out grew room. The stone was insane but you could feel that parnoid feeling lurking around in back of head and i had some friends that wouldn't smoke it because it screwed with them to much.

Last night I had a chance to sample some small buds that were nearly dry from my Mango Karot plant. This was a tough plant to germinate from seed. No seeds would pop until I learned they have to be scratched with sandpaper. Apparently, some seeds need that. I remember throwing away 10 T.N.R. seeds from KC Brains because they didn't germinate, and now I'm thinking they might have if I scratched them first. Anyway, I digress. Before hitting the Volcano I was thinking I would not grow Mango Karot again because of the long flowering time of 16 weeks, definitely a labour of love. After 5 good hits off the Volcano I experienced perhaps the best sativa high I've ever had in my life. Although not devastatingly powerful it was the absolute clarity that was unique. It was like I had taken a pharmaceutical-grade upper. A half-hour later I played my guitar and came up with new song ideas that came freely. After watching Netflix with my wife I went to bed and fell asleep easily with that lovely euphoric buzz.

In summation, there was no mental fog, denseness, raciness, or paranoia at all, just a euphoric, clear, super clean high that lasted for hours, super easy to converse and to concentrate when I needed to. Not trying to diss indicas or hybrids here, I grow some of those too because they finish quickly, I generally use those for sleeping meds only, but this sativa is in a category by itself. Being a 100% pure sativa freak I've grown Zamaldelica and Golden Tiger before and they were great, but this was better, again I must stress it was not more powerful just cleaner and more euphoric. Of course, there is a chance it was just the setting, and the next time I vape Mango Karot the effects may be different to me. Nevertheless, I can't wait to see what it does after a good curing.

Hi Mustang92. I started growing tropical sativas outdoors three years ago. My technique involves starting seeds in early April indoors and growing the seedlings under LED lights for a month. Then they get transplanted into 20-litre pots and gradually acclimatized to the outdoors. Around May 15 they go outside for good until the middle of October when it gets frosty. Then they go in front of my south-facing window until they're finished, and usually get about 8 hours of strong natural sunlight a day. I'm not saying they are as strong THC-wise as those grown in the tropics, but they're a reasonable facsimile considering it's 50 degrees north.

I agree about some Malawi strains. I lived in Africa for a couple years and tried lots there, but I found Malawi to be the strongest stuff of all; we called it Malawi Wowie and you could buy it for a buck a cob or roughly an ounce, really insane stuff. When we volunteers of different nationalities would get together for weekend it often involved drinking cases of Castle laager, and smoking pot from all over southern Africa: Malawi, Lesotho, South Africa, Zimbabwe and Swaziland. But man that Malawi Wowie would kick your ass-I remember trying to catch a frisbee and I saw 5 or 6 tracer frisbees fly by me. Very psychedelic and electric weed.

I think Thai stick, Golden Tiger, Zamaldelica are a little easier on the head, but the Reunion Island Mango Karot is even cleaner. I had some more last night and again it was an amazingly clear high. Hey, I like your seed scratcher, good idea.

Day 102
6th Week of flower
OG Kush
This is my first grow so I love the praise. Even more I love any tips or tricks in this 6th week of flowering...
Tomorrow is a water day... Was thinking about a half dose of some liquid bloom, but wanted to hear some opinions. I've already got a top dressing of gaia green bloom I did about week ago. Would I do more harm than good?

you can start using Unsulphured molasses, usually beginning of flowering to feed your soil. i believe your flowering plants stop feeding the beneficial bacteria and the soil will break down the sugar to carbohydrates which feed bacteria in the soil. The soil bacteria then produce CO2 that’s used by your plants, i think it also prevents salt built up and kills insects because they can't process sugar. Also some people swear bigger buds but that would only come from better soil microbes helping plant because i don't believe that plants can intake sugar. i use it sometimes and can't really say if it makes differnce, water smells goood.

note; we did molasses way back oudoors and i've never researched anything i have said so i don't know for fact it works. that said i've never seen the plant react badly too it either. you might want to research a little more than my hippie talk.

Merry Christmas Brother, I appreciate you weighting in... I get the disclaimer. It's a never ending learning experience. A lot of Bro science mixed with a lot of real science. If I hear both I can triangulate and form good commonsense responses. I wish more people weighted in. I had a light problem 6 weeks ago at flip. It was very difficult for me to decide on what lights to buy for grow. I even went to other forums, but very hard to get real advice. I mean I knew nothing and what I was reading scientifically only confused me. I really needed more people to help me and I feel I got some but not enough because of the lack of participation in discussion. Lots of likes that were no help at all. I took what info I found and information by members on forum and triangulated decision. I ended buying a Mars Hydro TS 3000. I feel now six weeks later so much more knowledgeable now about light. I love the lights, but knowing what I know now I feel slightly under powered. Don't get me wrong. The Mars Lights have worked very nicely, but I just don't feel I would have made this decision for a light if more people told me what they were using and so many people not jumping in with their two cents isn't helping anyone. I love this forum and people have helped and I really do feel my first grow would have been very disappointing without the forum. I do feel it's like pulling teeth sometimes to get people to tell me what they do. I think everyone is doing thing so differently and finding their own success and feeling like they don't want to give bad advice too... I say bring it!!! I will use my commonsense and some triangulating and not blame anyone but me for my grow.

I have buddy who does maple syrup
I would think you could just use the sap - if you are going to water it back down - save all the energy and expense of turning it into syrup. Should work the same.

I'm curious about how many people on this thread are outdoor organic growers, or are most of the members indoor growers? Myself I prefer to grow outside and organically. I swear it's a different high, but who really knows for sure.
growing season is too short in most of canada .. get many more grows indoors eh.. and the moose, elk and polar bears dont eat your buds..

I do both - most outside but I try to keep 2 in the greenhouse - not sure if I'm organic or not. I was going to really try to stick to 4 this year but that darn Backlipslide has corrupted me with more seeds!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm only one man!!!!! What can I do!!!! My curiosity gets the best of me!!! :thumb:
